I had an old clawfoot tub that previous owners had painted with latex. It drove me crazy with paint drips and chips. I finally found Supertubs and got Ed to restore it to it's former glory! Ed was wonderful and finished within one day. The results are spectacular!

install seemed ok. Was not aware until after the install that you can not use mats with suction cups or the finish peels off. Surface is not really safe without a mat. Purchased special mat for these tubs but it slips around. 2 years later the finish is peeling off around the drain area. Called, they came out and put clear silicon sealer around the drain. Looks like a 3 year old did. Do not resurface your tub, replace it, not worth the money.

Ed was a professional from start to finish. I called Ed at least 5 times with questions about the tub refinishing and each time he was courteous and informative. I would recommend him to anyone needing their tub refinished. I paid $650 for this service and that may seem like a lot of money but it was nothing compared to the thousands I would have spent to replace the tub. Please check out the photos I shared, they are before and after pictures of the bathtub.

Ed refinished our old blue tub and it looks like new! Responded quickly to touch up one small spot after completion.

Ed from Supertubs did a spectacular job. Before Ed's magic, the finish of the tubs was very poor - chipping and discolored. Ed arrived around 8am and spent the entire day completing the job. When he finished, we had two, practically new-looking tubs. We were able to use the tubs the next day. One impressive feature is the no-slip finish on the bottom of the tubs - great for showering. We had previously gotten quotes from other companies to remove and replace the tubs, but the prices were very high. We ended up with just-like-new tubs at a fraction of the price. We recommend Supertubs without reservation.

Ed looked at the problem and concluded that maybe the problem wasn't what I thought.
He tested the surface and after some intense elbow grease Ed removed what we thought was wear but turned out to be accumulated grime.
The point is that some other service providers might easily have done a refinish without  considering if it was necessary.
That kind of honesty makes an impression and I know that's not the only time Ed has shown that.

Very nice gentleman. Assured us that the job would out last us! He said at least 25 years. Unfortunately, it lasted a few months. He came back out and did a touch up but the tub looks like it did when we bought the house 4 years ago. I gave him a $50 tip for coming out. He gladly accepted. So disappointed to spend a lot of money on something that didn't last.  It's like the paint wore off! We used the cleaners he recommended and the old, ugly tub has returned.

When we purchased our house it had a lovely robin egg blue sink, toilet and tub that had to go!!!  The sink and toilet were no problem to just replace the whole fixture.  The tub was in great condition and I did not want to rip that out and replace it.  We called Ed and he came out and refinished our existing tub to a nice, bright, clean white!!  He was very prompt on his arrival and was very clean.  He put drop clothes down all over and taped off everything he could to keep it from getting anything on it.  He was in and out in less then a day and the tub was ready to use 24 hours later!  We had a few questions afterwards and he promptly replied.  There was some miscommunication about the project.  I asked what needed removed before he got there and no mention was ever made about the fixtures or anything.  I assumed he removed them.  Instead they were taped off and he went around them.  Had I know, I would have had them all off beforehand.  When I asked he gladly said he would come out anytime and fix it if we wished to remove those things.  All in all, I am very happy and it's much cheaper than replacing the tub!

Ed arrived at the appointed time. He was very upfront about whether the repair would take or not. The crack had been repaired by the company who installed it many years ago. He cleaned up before he left. Ed was very professional and we would use him again.

Ed is extremely personable and very pleasant to deal with. He responded in a timely manner to our original request for information and covered all issues and questions that we had. Ed called the day before to reconfirm the appointment and our color selection of the shower/tub refinishing material. He arrived right on the dot and worked straight through finishing in less than six hours. He performed the refinishing process in a most professional manner with respect to cleanliness and minimal disruption. We've never had this type of service performed so time will tell with respect to the durability of the process but it looks fantastic and we are very pleased.

Years ago, I ruined the finish on the one and only tub in my 1960 home. I attempted to repair myself (using a product from Sherwin Williams) only to find drips and uneven surfaces inside the tub. Hot baths led to my finish peeling and, well, by the time I decided to call a professional, the Tub had large areas of thick paint and many areas with no paint and no glazing left. It was nothing short of a prop in a horror movie!
When Ed arrived at the house, I was honestly a bit embarrassed to show him my tub; I expected him to turn down the job and to walk out of my home. But he smiled - big - and said and quot;this is going to be fun!and quot; He began work immediately and over the next six hours, Ed carefully and patiently scrubbed, sanded, buffed ... I really do not know what all he did in there - just that when he was finished, a miracle had been performed. I was now the proud owner of a tub worthy of a high-end hotel!
Ed is a rare contractor; he is clean, polite, patient, honest and focused. I happened to be home the day Ed repaired my Tub but had I not, I would have no hesitation of giving him a key and letting him alone in my home - AND - I say this about very few people. Much to my surprise, the process was remarkably quiet with very low odor.

Note: Ask questions about what to expect the finished product to look like.
Called Mr. Smith and explained that we would like to have our tub refinished as we were in the process of updating the main bathroom and had just finished tiling the walls in the tub area . He gave us a price of $550 over the phone and explained that that included the refinish, a new overflow and drain and a non-skid surface. We had called a couple of other companies and did not get any responses so we decided to have him do the job. This about the 9th of july and he made an appointment to come out on the 18th at 9 am.
Ed was here by 9am on the 18th. Brought alot of tools of the trade and drop clothes to make sure everything stayed clean.
During the job he expressed concern that the paint was not sticking to the finish on the top ledge of the tub. (A little history about the tub: We had a shower door on the tub sometime ago but removed it long ago but left the frame on. We justed tiled around the tub area this past month so the frame and bottom rail was removed. Securing the bottom rail to the tub ledge was silicone that would have to be removed before the refinish. And that is where our problem began.) According to Ed, silicone does a number to the finish of the tub and therefore forms pits and depressions on the finish and the silicone that is in these cracks won't let the paint adhere to the tub. We really did not notice alot of unevenness in the top before so we didn't think it would be a problem when the job was done.
When the job was complete we went in to look at the tub and it was a beautiful white color, nothing like what was there before.
And Ed pointed out about the problem again and we noted a few bumpy places on that top ledge. Initially, we thought, well, the rest of the tub looks pretty good. He said to wait at least 48 hrs before we used it but we still had painting and other things to do in there before we were going to have that bathroom functional again. Four days later we went in there to work again and looked the tub over . It was not looking the way we had thought it was going to look. You can pretty much see where the shower bottom rail had been because it bumpy and uneven in almost the whole length of the tub. It really takes away from the new refinished look of the tub. I called Ed on the 23rd to ask if he would come out to take another look at that ledge because it just does not look good. He explained the problem about what the silicone did and he really doesn't know what to do about it but that he would make some calls to others that have been in the business for a long time to see if they have a solution. He called me back right away the next morning and said he was really sorry, but there was nothing that could be done to fix it. We appreciate that he took the time to call others in the business and to call us back right away. We are totaly DIYer's but this is one job we did not want to tackle. So it is hard to accept that something can't be fixed but we admit we don't know anything about this type of work. I did tell Ed that we wished we would have known about this problem beforehand because we may have taken a different route like bathfitters or the like. Replacing the tub is not an option as we just finished tiling the walls before the tub refinishing.
We really wanted to be happy about this job but we should have asked if there might be any problems that would make the tub look less than perfect.
But overall, Ed was professional, on time, cleaned up after the job and friendly. Answered any questions (wished we had asked more) and phone calls.
Note: The job has a strong odor. Ed brought his own fan and we put some up too as the day he did the job was very hot. We went and sat outside till the job was done.

Ed did a super job. He removed the doors and even took them away for disposal for us. On the first day he changed a bisque tub to white, at my request, and I couldn't believe how great it looks. No one would ever know that there had been doors on there. It actually looks as though he installed a whole new unit! I had forgotten to ask him about putting a non-slip surface on the floor of the tub but he did it anyway! On the second day he did the same with the second tub except that one was already white.
Ed is very professional as well as personable. We are thrilled with our and quot;newand quot; tubs and would definitely recommend Ed of Supertubs to anybody.

I contacted supertubs (after contacting several others that did not respond) and recieved great service. The gentleman arrived when he said he would; performed the repair (which, by the way is excellent); and left a very clean workspace.
I could not be more pleased and would recommend Supertubs to anyone with a and quot;tuband quot; issue.

We had an old tub that I had refinished using a DIY kit many years ago. It was OK, but there were some spots that I hadn't cleaned well enough and the finish eventually peeled off there. I had considered a tub liner, but those were expensive and had some possible downsides I didn't like. After finding Supertubs here on Angies List, I called Ed and scheduled to have the old tub refinished. He arrived on time and hauled in a ton of equipment. He removed the old caulk, sanded the tub smooth and refinished it. We took the tub from white to biscuit to better match the bathroom. When the tub was done, Ed applied new caulk around the edge.
We are very pleased with how the tub turned out and are glad we made the decision to do what we did rather than have a tub liner installed. We're now replacing the shower fixtures and feel like we'll have a new tub and shower when we're done.

Ed arrived a few minutes early which is nice to see. after the introductions were complete, he started by laying out dropcloths for all his gear. He was working on the tub in no time flat and before you know it, he was done. Ed is very professional and cares about his job.

I had Supertubs refurbish my old porcelain tub in 2009, a few months before putting my house up for sale. When I bought my next house, I recognized immediately another job by Supertubs. I also found the receipt left by the previous owners. About 18 months of living with my tub, an area started to blister and peel. I looked for the receipt, but all I could find was the receipt for my original work, in the house I sold. There was a 5 year or 2 service call warranty, so I decided to give it a try. The owner remembered the work, and scheduled an appointment to look at the tub within 2 days of calling. He arrived, fixed the tub, the sink where it was peeling, and any little scratches starting to show. And then, since he had thrown some things in my trash can, gathered up the trash and took it with him. The customer service was fantastic. Even though it states there is a 5 year warranty, in this day and age one just seems to expect a battle over it -- not so with Supertubs. I would encourage anyone that needs to fix up a tub to consider this procedure over the fiberglass overlays. I would recommend Supertubs to anyone.

Ed from Supertubs came to repair my bathtub. He was very personable and did a great job. Unfortunately, I told him my bathtub was white (looked white to me), but when Ed got here he told me it was actually bisque, and he had brought white along. I told him that was okay, I was more interested in function than in it being a perfect match in color. He did the repair, and it looks very good. The area is whiter than the tub, and Ed said if it bothers me I should call him in about two weeks and he would come and cover it with the bisque color at no extra charge. He was very, very nice, and I was very pleased with his work.
