Gave me a quote three days after contacting them, and completed the work the same day as the quote. Seemed very knowledgeable about trees and offered to do minor trimming of a third tree free of charge. The crew worked efficiently, and their trimming was exceptional. The trees look healthier, my yard is brighter, and branches no longer hang dangerously over my roof.

They are great. I came home from work and it was fantastic. The owner, Tom Jansen, is very professional and knowledgeable. Also, he is very honest and ethical.

Arrived on time, took care of the work quickly. Suggested a couple of extra items that were needed that I had not thought of. Will use again.

They were extremely prompt, professional and cleaned up immediately.

I had storm damage to a large Oak tree on my property, the top of the tree snapped and the branches were stuck in various levels of the tree threatening my drive way and my neighbors driveway. I called two tree companies, one could not come out for an estimate for 4 weeks, Jansen came out the same day I called to provide an estimate. They did the estimate the day they said they would, they verbally provided my husband with the information. I did not receive a formal estimate for the work. When I called them to set up the work they agreed on a date. They called later to say they would be in my neighborhood on a earlier date and they could swing by and remove the branches so I agreed. When they arrived the branches were too high for the crane they had, so no work was done. I had to call them to get an explanation as to why the work was not complete, and when they would be coming back. They said they would be out the next day but it was two or three days later before they returned to do the work. Again I had to call to get a copy of the work order/ invoice and to make the payment.
The work they did was fine, they were faster then the other company in coming to get the work done which is why I went with them (the hanging branches were scary) but from an organizational stand point the experience left something to be desired. If you don't mind having to track down the company for every step in the process then it's ok. I usually prefer that the contractor handles the work.

I contacted Jansen Tree Experts in order to get an estimate on removing one tree, and to get some professional advice on whether to cut down or treat another tree. I received a prompt response (1 day later) saying that someone would come to my house the next day. No one ever came, nor did I receive any kind of communication explaining why no one came. I waited a day before contacting Jansen to mention that no one stopped by. It has now been 5 days since I reached out to them and I have yet to hear back.
If this is how they treat prospective customers, I can't imagine how they treat customers who signed up for their services. Reading through the reviews, it sounds like I'm not alone with this issue. I'm not sure how they are recognized as an Angie's List Awards winner. I obviously will not be using their service.

Contracted Jansen to cut down a tree in front yard and remove the stump. They provided a contract with two prices, first to cut the tree down, then to grind the stump. They removed the tree and asked for a check for the first price. Jansen said they would be out the next week to get the stump. That never happened. I gave them some time and called them about a month later. They said they would be out the next week. Now two weeks later and about two months after the start of the job, I still have a tree stump in my front yard. After calling them four times and them saying they would come and grind the stump four times, they still have not showed up. Now, I will likely have to pay another contractor to come and get the stump. I will never use this contractor again and I suggest that you do not waste your time with them either.

I woke this morning to a huge tree limb that crashed into our roof. It was massive. I called the hotline at 8:30. By 9:30 Tom Janson had driven out, inspected the site and gave me a quote. By 11:30, Tom, a crane, bucket truck and a team of 6 were working to remove the tree limbs. They did a great job even though it was a tough landscape. By 3:00pm they had cleaned up and left no sign that they were there.
I would definitely recommend Tom and his Tree Service. Top Notch. They exceeded expectations.

It was astonishingly fast. They showed up at 3:30 pm and I thought it would take several hours to finish the job. They were done by 5 PM. Everything was cleaned up using a blower on the driveway and street to get rid of debris. Their price was the same as a friend quoted but he never showed up, probably because he doesn't have a crane. When he looked at the job he said it was worth $1800 but he would give me a break on the price. I was expecting Jansen to be around $2000. The owner ran the crane and drove the truck and there was a 6-man crew running the chainsaw and attaching the sling to lift the tree. I chatted with a couple of the guys as I was photographing the removal. Everyone was very personable, despite the fact that they were at the end of a hot day and looked exausted.

They did the job fine, they did exactly what they were asked to do, the only small compliant is it was a small job and it took quite a while to get around doing it but i have anticipated it, there was no emergency, there was no hurry, I don't think that should be the real factor in judging their work. They were polite, they showed up and did the job so I'm satisfied with what they did and with the good price.

On Monday 5/12/2014 I called for an estimate on the work I wanted done. On Tuesday, 5/13/2014 Larry came out and gave me an estimate of $575.00 to prune the tree. This required thinning out inside branches, removing branches over hanging the house and removing branches that were growing around the electric service line to the house. The quoted price also included removing brush and debris.
On Wednesday I received a call from the office saying that the crew was on their way. Larry arrived with a climber and ground man. He said the rest of the crew would be here soon after they finished another job. The climber began doing the cutting while the ground man removed the cut limbs and debris. The rest of the crew arrived with the chipper and began the clean up process. When the job was completed, there were no limbs laying around anywhere. My driveway was completely clean and no wood chips could be found anywhere.
I couldn't have been more pleased with the professionalism and cleanliness of the entire crew. If someone drove up to my house, there is no way they would know that I had tree work done.

The job went smoothly. They removed the tree less than a week after I called to request an estimate. I received the estimate the day after I called. The stump grinding didn't happen right away, but maybe 7-10 days later.

It looks great. I can't remember the exact date of service- I'm guessing at November day.

Called JTE early Tuesday morning and asked for an estimate. Mr Jansen called me back when he arrived on site 2 hours later, and provided my with a quote. I accepted the quote, and 6 hours later when I arrived back home, the tree was gone and all debris was removed. Day later when the stump grinder was repaired, the stump was ground down. Wood chips will be used as mulch this week.
I've used JTE before and I will do it again.

They did a great job. I am totally satisfied with their service. When they were gone they cleaned up so well you would not have known they were there.

Tom Jansen showed up the next morning after I called for an estimate. He was professional and not pushy. When I asked him about the second tree, whether he recommends removal or maintenance, he told me maintenance, which I thought was nice and honest. The estimate was on the spot and was very good, substantially better than two other estimates I received. Unlike one of the companies, they said the would be able to remove the tree without putting trucks on my lawn, which was a factor in my decision. Unlike the other company, they did not need to close down the road to do the work. So it was a no-brainer to go with Jansen.
Scheduling the work required a couple of calls to the main office, but the second time I called, it was scheduled for the next morning. The team showed up right on time and worked for about 5 hours. They took down all the big branches with a crane, then cut the trunk down and removed all the wood. Everything was done professionally, and while there is some grass torn up on the lawn, I think this is to be expected from the big pieces of wood laying on it. The second tree was trimmed nicely as well.
So overall, this was a very good experience - particularly since the tree turned out to be in pretty bad condition. Based on my experience, I would call Jansen for my next tree problem and for maintenance.
