Very well. Estimation done quickly from 1st call. Install scheduled based on my time frame. Installation crew was timely, polite, and did a good job! Good guys.

Great. Lots of samples in showroom and a no pressure sales staff. A first rate job that ran about a half a day over. Friendly employees who treated our home with respect. I'm grading price as a C since I didn't get any other estimates. Paracca was our first choice based on a previous positive experience. The time between our acceptance of their proposal and job start date was approximately 6 weeks. They started the job on time.

Paracca did a great job. They were competitively priced, on-time (yes, I said ON-TIME) with the projected start/completion dates. The crew showed up every day between 8-8:30 & worked full days completing the tasks on the timeline. The craftsmanship is terrific & the crew's ability to adjust to surprises along the way was terrific. I have had a lot of work done on my house, but this is the only company that has planned so well that they actually finished in the time that they said it would take. I would absolutely hire them again and recommend them to family/friends.

Very well. The sales staff was nice to deal with. They let us take various samples home without any sort if commitment on our part. Their price for the work was about $250.00 less than another well known business in our area. (This was for the exact same carpet and pad.) They quoted their price without playing any games, while the competitor finally arrived at their price after finding other "discounts" we were magically eligible for. The only things we had to do in preparation for the install was to disconnect the TV and remove any small items from end tables. They moved everything, did the install, placed the TV and furniture back in the room in the correct locations, cleaned up and hauled away the old carpet and pad. The workers were personable and respectful of our home.

We are very pleased with the new carpeting we received from Paracca. The sales process was slow on our end, because we had never purchased carpet before. We researched online, called three providers, and waited for estimates from all three. In addition, the carpet had to be installed twice as the first set of carpets had a color defect. Paracca responded to this issue quickly and we had the second set of carpet installed within a couple weeks. Kudos to them for the customer service.
The most difficult part of purchasing carpet is understanding exactly what you are getting. We used a website called howtobuycarpet.com, and this website goes into great detail regarding the types of carpet, and carpet specifications to seek.
We were surprised to find that none of the companies that provided estimates made it easy to compare their products, as none had the carpet specifications readily available (others tried were Young Floor Coverings and Nest Expressions). Some said nylon was the best, others said P.E.T. was fine for our use given it would be lower traffic. No one provided the pile height, pile density or face weight stats that the carpet buying website suggested were necessary to effectively compare products. These stats ultimately help you determine how long the carpet will last - though I expect our carpet to last approx. 10 years.
We ultimately chose Paracca based on price - but we nearly went with the middle bid for a few reasons:
1. Paracca's flooring estimate did not initially list the square footage. When I requested this information, their square footage estimate was 25 sq ft higher than my own measurements AND the other two estimates (not great when paying by the square foot). However, their total cost was still cheaper than the others. As expected, we have over 20 sq ft left over from each installation.
2. During our research process, and after we received bids, we tried to compare nylon carpet cost to PET with Paracca. Both Paracca estimates were priced exactly the same (to the penny; though I believe the Nylon was not as thick/high). The other two providers were approximately $0.75 - $1 sq ft more for nylon. I thought this was strange, but since we were not planning to use nylon given lower traffic, we let this go.
3. When describing the products in their bids, Paracca used the exact name of the carpet, without ever attaching it to a brand. For instance, our quotes included names such as Appealing Endeavor, New Chapter III, Enticing Objective and Awesome (Nylon). I thought they were making these names up, and had to search online before I found that Mohawk had specific carpet styles with these names. It would be nice to see the carpet brand in front of the name of the style.
All in all, there is still a shroud of mystery with respect to the specifications of the carpet we purchased, but we are pleased with the service and product that Paracca provided.

We have used Parracca before and we're very happy. They are prompt, friendly and very fast. The sales person took a lot of time with us and came up with a really cost effective wood to match the style we were thinking of. The installers worked very quickly and the whole process went very quickly.

Salesperson was knowledgeable and quickly found the material I was looking for. This was the only floor installer that had the ability to remove the old slate confidently and able to give me an accurate estimate for the work. I asked three different installers who refused the job for fear of what they may find once the tile was removed. Paracca knew exactly how the old floor was installed and knew exactly how to remove it without any surprises. I could not be happier.

When we accepted the bid, Mike checked with Lauzon and said it would be 5 weeks to get the wood. We scheduled the job for 5 weeks out. The wood arrived and the job started on schedule. It took 4 and a half days to complete the installation. The installers, Steve and Brian, arrived on time. They walked through the rooms to orient themselves with the job, then got right to work. They were both pleasant and professional. They kept the work area very clean and organized. Once they had removed the old carpet, they needed to confirm the thickness of the plywood needed and then pick up the plywood at a local store. They did that quickly and by the end of the first day they were half done with the family room. As they moved furniture onto the hardwood floor, they added furniture pads so the furniture wouldn't scratch the wood. They seemed to work well together and knew exactly what they were doing. Each evening they cleaned up and took everything with them, so there was no equipment to navigate around during the process. Paracca did the staining for the molding (we picked the color to match other molding in the house) and they did a good job. Steve and Brian installed the molding in record time and it looks great!
The floors look absolutely gorgeous. We are so happy with them, and with our selection of Paracca. In the future we plan to put hardwood floors in the rest of the house and we plan to work with Paracca Flooring again when we do it.

Before I even moved into the house issues with the floors were reported to my builder. The builder did not resolve the issues and instead referred me to Paracca. In Nov 2009 Gary Paracca came to my home and I reviewed the issues with him. He assured me they would correct the issues. It's now been 4 years and while they fixed some of the issues the majority of the issues remain.
The hardwood defects involved numerous boards with a damaged finish and/or cracked/split boards. The defects were identified in the family room, entry, office, hallways, master bedroom and master closet: in other words every room that contains the hardwood. The tile flaws included cracked tiles, unleveled tiles and missing grout in both the kitchen and master bath.
April 2010 - Jan 2012 I communicated repeatedly via email with Parraca's administrative assistant trying to arrange for the floor repairs to be completed. The tile issues were partially resolved although I still have grout failing in the shower. There have been attempts to repair the hardwood a number of times but the job has yet to be completed. In addition, an endeavor to replace one board in the Master bedroom was completely botched.
In April 2011 Paracca sent one of their own inspectors to review the hardwood floors once again. As a result of that visit I was informed in May 2011 that no further repairs would be completed as scheduled and that a claim had been submitted to the
manufacturer. Based on the claim submission, the admin informed me an independent inspector would be scheduling an appointment to evaluate the floors. In June 2011 the inspector, Ron Starkey, examined the floors, took pictures and interviewed me. At that time, he estimated that over 100 boards needed to be replaced. I requested that I receive copy of the report that would be sent to Paracca. Every visit for repairs and inspections required that I take a vacation day from work costing me valuable time and money. In June I checked with the admin and she had no update on my claim.
I sent a letter to the Manufacturer in August for resolution and was informed this was between Paracca and the distributor but they would try to get an update. I heard nothing more from Somerset. I paid Paracca $16,255.40 ($8890. hardwood floors alone) for a quality product and installation services. I feel I paid for an inferior product and improper installation. I reached out to Paracca again in Jan 2012 and have yet to receive an update from Paracca or a report from Somerset.
I can’t express to you the level of dissatisfaction I have with Paracca, with the quality of the Somerset
product and the handling of this situation. I regret my selection of the Somerset product and for allowing Paracca to do the installation. I had expected a much higher level of quality from both Somerset and Paracca.

Response from Paracca Flooring Inc
"It is unusual that we are getting this review now after 4 years of trying to help [Member name removed]. Even after the builder went out of business shortly afterward and left his problems to others. In 2009 after taking preliminary moisture readings, we recommended that the hardwood flooring not be installed at this time because of the extremely high moisture reading levels in the home. The readings in the home were in the red levels of the meter, 25% and greater. It was suggested that commercial dehumidifiers be placed in the basement to try to control the moisture levels. This home was built in a valley near a creek, a very wet environment and jobsite. The builder insisted the floor be installed as he wanted to complete the home on schedule and did not have the time to wait for conditions to be right for hardwood installlation. The hardwood floor itself had the correct moisture level of 6% when it was installed. Immediately after installation the new wood started to take on moisture from the home. This is something that was natural and sure to happen. This caused the the boards to swell severely and beyond the expansion areas left at the walls under base baords. This caused baords to crack and finish imperfections appeared. As requested we tried to change some boards. After removing a board it was impossible to reinstall the new board because the floor was under so much pressure from the moisture. The opening immediately was smaller than the board removed. The board had to be cut down to fit in the spot where a full board was removed. Boards that were removed were black on the back. The species of oak when exposed to moisture turns black. That's how high the moisture content was in the plywood, almost wet. We still have the boards in our possession. Again dehumidifiers were suggested to try to control the extreme moisture in the home. We have been in business for 3 generation and take our reputatation very seriously. This is why we continued to try to help [Member name removed]. It was a difficult process for our service coordinator to schedule repairs. Calls were made to schedule repairs with extended periods of time before return calls were made to go over possible repair dates. After repair dates were discussed, again extended periods of time went by before a return call to schedule the discussed dates, by that time the proposed dates dates were gone. When we were able to schedule & do repairs it was a difficult time for our men in the home. Sometimes when the men were there to do repairs [Member name removed] would only let the men work in certain parts of the house, when repairs were needed in several different rooms. this delayed the repair process significantly. Eventually we did repair an extensive amount of boards at no cost to her. Repairs were also made to all tile work in question. We tried to help her further by getting the manufacturer of the wood involved. Their determination of the issues with the floor were the same. They were kind enough to help by offering a little wood for repairs. It has been some time since we have heard from [Member name removed] until we discovered her review. We have tried to do the right thing by helping [Member name removed], even though her hardwood flooring problems were not a result of faulty labor or wood. Again, we take our reputation very seriosly and have for 3 generations. We have done our best to accommodate & help [Member name removed] to this end."

The crew showed up a little late each day, which was fine except they made way to many smoking breaks in my opinion and some of the crew would go elsewhere during the day or on one of the 5 days it took to complete when they had quoted 3. Also had to mention more than once to not smoke near the open garage or any of the doors. The head installer was reasonably good, although, it became apparent that he was not the most experienced installer even on his own crew. Many of the worst boards were laid in the most conspicuous areas in the major hall and walkways. When I mentioned this, he said that it was difficult to determine that as it was being laid out and if he did lay it out more carefully, he would need more wood. I explained that that would be fine, since we want it done right, but he continued to lay it down his way. Overall, the intstallation was satifactory and the things missed in the week of install were rectified by a seperate visit from their guys who cut some doors that were sticking and replace some of the worse boards they had laid down. The product has lasted fairly well and still holds together during the cahnge in seasons.
Now, the story goes bad when I try to get some service after the honeymoon phase is over. A few weeks after the install I notice a board under the sliding glass door in the kitchen has slipped back under the sliding glass door. I call Paracca because I also want an estimate for a backsplash in the kitchen. They say that the estimater can assess the floor better and then we can schedule a repair. I get the estimate and the guy says its a simple fix and he will let the office know to schedule a guy to come out with a nail gun. A few months pass and the area in question that is covered by a dog bed is forgotten. We have the backsplash done for one more day than estimated because I have all the time and patience in the world for slow work apparently. During the backsplash install I am in contact with the Cranberry store about various issues and I again ask about this repair. They keep telling me that the "girl" in charge of scheduling will give me a call. Never happens and I continue to put a call in every few months to have someone out to no avail.
Then, after all this time, I decide to give them another chance to install carpet. I have the estimater out and show him the board repair that needs to be done and he says he will have them send a guy. Never happens and after all this lack of response, I smartly decide not to go with them on the carpets and go with their competitor for the whole house. They actually dont call me about the estimate until over two months after it was measured and I have already put in their competiters carpet. Needless to say, it is now many months past and I put in another call to fix the board and to get a quote on another repair in the powder room The girl says she will have to call me back with a schedule. She doesnt call so I call her about three weeks later and she isnt in. By this time I share with this other person, my frustration and she assures me that the girl will call me back the next business day. That next business day comes and goes so I call the following day and the girl is too busy on the other line to take my call. Again, I share with the alternative person my frustration. Finally, I am connected with a Paracca and after a few minutes I am given the information I need.
I have decided after this to have my GC take care of the board and replace a few boards in the pwder room since I cannot wait another year or whatever to have this work done. Their estimates are low for a reason. You get what you pay for and I have since found I could have had my GC do my backsplash for about a 1/4 the price!!

We talked to a few different salesmen at Paracca to get some ideas and prices and they were all very helpful while we decided what we wanted to do. After talking to 2 other flooring companies Paracca was the most helpful and also had the best price for what we wanted done. Both crews that came out- one did the hardwood and the other did the carpeting - were very professional and completed the work to our total satisfaction. They were on time everyday and put in a full days work.

Showroom service and selection was excellent. Very friendly and professional. Installation time was great. Pricing was slightly higher than another estimate, however, showroom service and recommendations were better.
The only downside was one of Carpet Installers. He was very gruff. Prior to installing the carpeting the entire area was freshly painted and the walls were in perfect shape. In no less than three areas we found indentations in the wall from the Installer. The Installer refused to acknowledge that he damaged the pristine walls. I called the showroom and they took the Installers side claiming he said he did not cause any damage. They did not offer to repair or compensate us for the damage. I had to patch and repaint two of the identations - a third party verified they were caused by the installers.
I had planned to use them for additional carpeting but since this other area was again freshly painted I did not want to take any chances. No complaints using Lowes for the remaining carpeting.

Work crew arrived on the designated day and time. Up to six workmen lifted the original floor using powered chisels. Even though protective plastic was hung throughout the condo, the work generated a significant amount of dust. It took 4-6 people three days to lift the old floor, a very noisy and as previously noted dusty process. Two and a half days were required to lay the new floor and a half day to remove and replace the closet carpeting. The entire job took six days. I estimate at least a dozen different workmen were involved in the project onsite. All were polite and courteous. They reported on time each day and worked full time until quitting time around 3PM. Final cost came in below estimate.
