He excavated for about an hour and then began laying stone. When I interrupted him, because this was not what we had agreed upon, he told me that it wasn't necessary to do go through the steps we had requested and that this would save us money. I checked with 2 engineers who said that the pad would not be structurally sound unless excavation and rolling were done prior to laying the stone. I pulled him off the job, lost $5000 deposit I had given him and was stuck with a big piles of stone in the field for the winter. He said he would move them but never did.
