I inherited Superior from McCandless Fuels, who for many years did an excellent job. In the past
3 years or so, Superior has replaced oil tanks in all 3 houses. Unfortunately, they continually bill my account for fill us in the rental Houses and fight me when I call to attempt to straighten things out. In addition, they frequently get my tenant's billing incorrect as well. My next door tenant ran out of oil last week and got an emergency fill up but Superior did not prime the burner so no heat. I called them and was told there would be a service charge even though I have an expensive service contract on the burner. I do not think superior has gotten an invoice correct in the past 3 years - it is always a hassle with them. Additionally, I find out that their prices are well above the competition, for instance, propane was billed at $1.00 a gallon lower then Superior.
Anyway, I have gotten an very good response from another Angie's list company, Haly Oil, and plan to switch companies for the fall. Season.

UPDATE: Since December 25th, 2013, I have had to call 4 times for the same problem (in less than 2 months). The gas furnace will not ignite. The problem has occurred every time through the night. We lose heat, I call, the answering service says they will pass the message to dispatcher, I never hear from dispatcher. All of a sudden many hours later, I get a call from a technician that he is in the area. The technicians have done following: 12/25/13 - burners came on suddenly after not working for 10 hrs. he said he saw nothing wrong Did nothing. mid Jan, 2014 - replaced a part end of Jan. 2014 - said there was a loose piece probably from the last service call. Feb. 17, 2014 - called and was told a dispatcher would be in touch with me within 4-6 hours! Their central office is unresponsive, unprofessional and has NO concern for the customer. Every time I've called I'm told "there is a high call volume"! Of course there is, it's winter! They have too many customers and handle them very poorly. I have had a contract with Superior Plus since they bought out Kelly Energy several years ago. Before this year, I've only called for service 2x over 10+yrs. , I can't even get my cleaning in, that I paid for in October 2013. I am scheduled for March 2014. I recommend that no one use this company.
Update - Issue resolved
In order to get through, I complained via email to corporate management. To their credit, a couple of top executives really jumped on the case and followed through all the way to make sure I was getting the service I wanted. They also gathered information about what may have gone wrong with their phone system to make the initial contact attempt so frustrating.
The conversion crew showed up as scheduled on Tuesday morning to begin the conversion. It was scheduled to go to 3pm on Thursday. It actually went a bit past 4, which wias most impressive considering the unexpected challenges they ran into. The workmanship is first-rate. The system passed its initial test on the first try. An initial test was sufficient on this hottest day of the year so far!
The crew was courteous, trustworthy, and professional. Due to family medical issues, I had to leave them alone in the house much of the time. My trust was well-placed.
The work included complete removal of the oil and oil tanks and the old oil furnaces. The first thing they did was disconnect and remove the oli filler pipe from the side of the house and seal up the hole. That prevented any "fill the basement" type accident if my former oil company's automatic delivery system became overzealous. That sort of care and attention to detail, along with excellent workmanship, was the hallmark of the conversion.
When they were done, the musty old dirt-floor cellar looked better, smelled better, and was cleaner than I had seen it in twenty-five years.
