The vendor was supposed to try to recover files from my hard drive.
They said that they recovered some but when I got my computer home I found that they had accomplished NOTHING.
We were having a problem with the OS on our Windows PC, and I contacted Compusolve to send a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The tech who was sent was a familiar face since he'd been someone with whom we had worked with before. He was, as always, courteous and friendly; He asked a few questions and he set about repairing the issue. After several hours, he said that we shouldn't have any more problems, we paid him and he left. The very next day, upon machine start-up, the problem had reoccured, but my wife didn't mention it to me until the next day. I called Compusolve, explained the problem, and they said they would send another technician. After he arrived, and we told him what the problem was, he said that it was likely a hardware issue and the machine would need to be taken back to their shop to be diagnosed further. We asked him if it were likely that the problem had been hardware related from the beginning and he said "yes", which made us wonder why the original tech claimed to have repaired something that wasn't in fact repairable on-site. So, essentially I paid $160+ for nothing for the first visit, and then to compound the problem, the second tech insisted that I pay a $50 diagnostic fee. When I told him I was told that their work was guaranteed, they claimed that service charges are always charged even to diagnose a previously (but incorrectly) diadnosed and alledgedly repaired item. So essentially I paid $220 for Compusolve to waste 3 hours of my time and not repair my computer.
I may have used them in the past but based on this episode, very unlikely I will ever, use them again...
A couple days later, I tried emailing the technician to find out what Eric had said. The email bounced back. I tried to resend. It bounced back again. So I called Comcast to find out what the problem was with my email. I spent a couple more hours on the phone with Comcast. They couldn't find a problem. So I called CompusolveUSA back. The woman who answered the phone asked me what email I was using. I told her it was the one on the business card I had been given just a few days before, and spelled it for her. She told me to try another one that she gave me. I asked her - twice - what was wrong with the email that was printed on the business card I had been given. She refused to answer my question and just told me to try the one she had given me.
I emailed the technician at this second address. This time, it didn't bounce back, nor did I get an undeliverable message. Nonetheless, several days later, I haven't received a reply.
What kind of tech company sends the wrong tech out to do a job?
What kind of tech company lets their technicians hand out business cards with a bad email address?
What kind of tech company refuses to acknowledge, let alone apologize, for their mistakes?
What kind of tech company charges for mistakes?
Everything went very well. My computer problem developed on a weekend. The computer was blocked from use totally. I contacted CompuSolveUSA on Sunday at 8:30 am. We discussed the situation, and it was determined the problem could only be resolved by bringing the computer into the shop. On Monday morning, Ross stopped by our home to disconnect and pick up the computer. On Wednesday morning, Matt returned the repaired computer, re-connected everything, tested everything out. We're really happy with the results. We had a real emergency; we were "dead in the water". My wife has a small business and we're very dependent on that computer. At first, the pricing might seem a bit high, but the $20. coupon was applied and I understand Mark had made a lower price adjustment. When one considers time for pick-up, shop time (around 3 hours), and drop-off/reconnect, I would have to say the repair was a good value.
Dustin arrived exactly on time and got directly to work. I had called specifically for the printer setup, but while he was here I asked to to see if we could get my large 24" monitor to work with my laptop. It does work, but evidently the graphics driver in the laptop doesn't really support the monitor.
