Merry Maids of Collegeville

I have used them for 4 month. I knew upfront that they were double the price of an average cleaner, but wanted to give it a try, convinced by by promises of exceptional quality and attention to detail. I requested thorough cleaning (semi-deep every time) and paid for it. First couple of times were decent , not spectacular but decent. After that -the crew changed and quality was downhill. What I received was the usual sloppy bare minimum 3 hr cleaning and they charged me $235 for it , which is almost $80 an hour ! I tried to re-inforce the quality: called managers, talk to the crew directly, ended up teaching them how to clean the bathroom and provided my own tools because they came unprepared etc. No result really and way too much effort to get the quality they promise but can't deliver. By the way this was not a one time observation-I gave them 2-3 times to re-mediate the situation, more than fair chance. When I called to cancel the service, the manager on the phone made no effort to rectify the situation and just informed me that I will be charged $400 (yearly) contract cancellation fee. So, in the 4 months that I used them, they made ~1k already by providing a ~$100 job while charging me $200 +$400 cancellation fee. Then they will probably use a new customer to do the same. Rip off business model: you are paying double for their marketing and office overhead but not for the quality of service.

At first the younger people were great and would clean thoroughly. The quality really dropped off and each visit just got worse. Today was the last straw, they didn't dust anywhere. Where they did wipe in kitchen they just left smeared marks on outside of microwave, fridge, ect. They didn't wipe anything on counter or pull out to clean. They didn't even mop downstairs today! That was it, called and cancelled. Don't use this company it's under new ownership and all the good employees quit. Plus each visit the employees would contain how the other employees were calling off or not showing up. Find a different cleaning company

Positives

The arrived on time, at least one person is the same every time, and were very pleasant.

Negatives

The negatives far outweigh the positives. I have used this service for 9 months. My home is normally clean and orderly and with only 2 of us living in it - it does not get very dirty. The quality and consistency of the cleaning is very poor. I have reached out to management several times with my complaints and reporting work that was not completed. They never responded back to messages left and when I actually spoke with someone(Karen) always promised things would be better . Examples of poor quality work included - trash not emptied, crumbs on my countertops, kitchen floors with loose and dried on dirt, carpets with pieces of paper still present, dust along the back of furniture tops (they must have only wiped the fronts or around the dollies), the list goes on and on. In addition, accident occurred (which can be expected) but they were never reported to me it was left for me to accidently find out about. (pulling phone wires out of the wall with vacuum, and spill bucket of water on my carpet)

I had them for about 4 years. The price varies by the size of the house and my house is big and I wanted a lot done. Once you get people that are good then you can count on them, but make sure you're comfortable with who's doing it. My regulars were awesome. It was when they would try and send someone in once in a while that we were disappointed. The same 2 people that come in pairs would come every week. They would be your people whenever you want them to come, be it weekly, biweekly or monthly. I would stay home while they were here because I felt more comfortable and one person dropped off a bag of lemons from my balcony on to my hardwood floors and I called them and she got fired. I thought they did an amazing job on hardwood floor and on kitchen floors. I would use them again, but right now I'm not using anyone. It's expensive and you're paying for 2 people and there's a surcharge on them.

At first, it depended on which crew was assigned to our house each time. There were times when the cleaning was great, then times where we had to clean up after the cleaning crew. We just never knew what we were going to get. After a couple complaints we were assigned a permanent crew. At first things were good. Then as time went by things would not be done. Dusting was missed, doors were not wiped down, vacuuming was incomplete, trash cans weren't emptied, etc. Every week it was something new. It seemed like every time they were there we had to point something different out to the workers. The final straw was when the same arrears were not cleaned for a month. For $29.00 per hour I expect the job to be done and done right the first time. I don't want to wait for their next visit for something to be done. It was like each time the workers were seeing what else they could get away without cleaning. It just got to be not worth the aggravation.

They cleaned all the rooms, floors, toilets and tubs. They were on time and very professional and pleasant.

They have done an excellent job. They are accommodating of our dog, and they even let the dog out to do its business while they're here. The same team always comes out. They know exactly how we like our house, and it's always that way when we come home. It's great!

They come out every three weeks. The people who come out are very good. They are very responsive and do a good job.
