The office was open late so I was able to schedule the appointment in the evening, and they came out within a few days. The technician showed up on time, even a bit early. He was nice and explained what he was going to do before starting, along with the cost of everything. He worked with me and answered questions when I had them. He brought in and set up a standard (I assume) large vacuum, then cut an access panel into each main duct, and hooked up a vacuum hose to each (one to blow air and one to suck it back out). He also went around to each individual vent and return with an air hose to clean them, though he didn't take the covers off for most of them. I think ended up bending the grate on a couple covers, though it wasn't bad and I was able to bend them back for the most part. He also apparently forgot to put one back on that he had removed, but I just did it myself. After he was done with the air ducts, he cleaned the dryer vent and dryer with the vacuum hoses. The total job took about 2 hours, which is pretty much what he estimated before he started. I assume he got a lot of dust out based on what I saw fall out when he'd periodically remove the vacuum hoses to check them. He let me feel the bottom of the main ducts to show me they were clean, though one was rusting inside, so rust kept falling out (he got a lot of it but would have been there all night trying to get it all). What bothered me was that their ad said they did free video inspection, but when I asked about that when he first arrived, he said I had to request that when I made the appointment, so he apologized that he didn't have the equipment with him. The ad said nothing about having to make a special request. I found this a bit shady, and thought maybe they prefer not to let their customers see the finished job in detail because they don't really clean the ducts all that well. But I wanted the job done at that time, so I didn't reschedule just for the video. He cleaned up most of the mess made during his work, though I did have to do some minor vacuuming. Since this is the first time I've had ducts cleaned, and I didn't get the video inspection, I can't say for sure how good a job they did. I would most likely use them again, but I think I will first try one of the top-rated companies on here to have something against which to compare them. Since the air ducts are supposed to be clean for 3-4 years, though (1 year for the dryer vent), it will probably be awhile until I do another cleaning. I gave them a B overall mainly because of the misleading ad concerning the video inspection, and partly because there were so many extra costs, even if some were expected. Had I gotten the video inspection as I thought I would, and been able to actually see that the ducts were cleaned well, I might have given them an A.
