I saw the physician's assistant. He prescribed some type of "cough pill" because they were being told to cut back on prescribing antibiotics. I took the medication until it was gone. My symptoms improved somewhat. Three days after finishing the medication, my symptoms grew worse. Back to the doctor and the same physician's assistant. This time I am reluctantly prescribed amoxicillan in a very mild dose and told to continue taking Robitussin cough syrup and Sudafed. This sinus infection dragged on for nearly 6 weeks when it didn't need to. I am not the type of person to run to the doctor for the sniffles. I had previously gone to Dr. Kramer for other sinus infections, and I was prescribed much more effective medication that took care of the sinus infection much more quickly. I had been a patient since I moved to the area in 1997. Although my visits were infrequent, they do have my medical history and could easily see that when I come to them with a sinus infection, it's a nasty one. I will admit I never did feel comfortable which is why I allowed my wellness visits to lapse. Nothing inappropriate, just never felt comfortable. At times, it felt like a production line environment...get the patients in...get the patients out. I will be changing primary care physicians. Thanks to Angie's List, I have two promising leads.
