This was a very small job. However, it was treated with the same importance as if it was a major siding job. They did not require me to be home and left me an invoice. It was like they were never there. The only "gripe" I had was the fact that a company sign was left in our front yard. It was ok for a day or so, but after week and a cal to have it removed, it was not and ended up in the trash. Seemed wasteful for such a small job.

For such a small job, I was impressed. Jeremiah came over to scope out the job soon after I sent an info request through their website. He gave me a rough quote and approx date (the next week!) he could get it done, which turned out to be the exact billed amount. The painted vents look great, he cleaned up totally so you cannot tell that anyone was there. Again, for a small job, I'm very pleased.

It was very good. We were very pleased. It went well. They were very efficient. They were not the cheapest, but we felt that the quality that they provided was far superior to the other people we saw. We like their product better. It was the best. I thought they were very professional. I would definitely use them again if I need them.

We finally decided to replace our 40+ year old aluminum siding.  After getting 5 estimates, we decided immediately to use Dale Rimmer Siding Co.  Dale Rimmer came out himself to do the estimate and meet with us.  He has been doing siding for over 30 years.  Of the 5 estimators who met with us, he was the only one to make design suggestions regarding the color and type of siding we should consider.  His idea to use horizontal boards on the main house and shakes on the sunroom give the home a custom look along with bone color (instead of white) for the trim and gutters.  He uses premium products and is up to date on what's happening in the home improvement market.  Despite some weather delays, the job was done to our complete satisfaction.  His talented crew includes his brother, Don, who is an outstanding craftsman.  They answered all of our questions and kept us informed throughout the entire job.

Gutters were installed but there was a problem with the pitch. Work was corrected without debate. Then minor shingle damage was found. After a delay shingle was fixed without debate. I commend the contractor for following through and standing behind the work. We are satisfied customers.

Mr. Rimmer promised to come to our that day to provide an estimate. Upon seeing the problem Mr. Rimmer immediately set to work to repair not only the piece of siding that home come down but other loose pieces of siding as well. We were very grateful that he was able to come out so quickly to help us out because the loosed pieces were near the top of the house and rain was forecast for the following Sunday.

Went okay, no complaints.  Seems you have to call him a few time to let him know you are serious and ready to have the work done.
Response from Dale Rimmer Siding

"[member name removed], Thank you for the nice review and as you know I don't use salesman , siding subs, etc. so some times we take longer to get out unless you have leakage, but that said next time we will shoot for an "A" Thank you for using our service Dale Rimmer"

Very well done.  Dale was very quick on the response to our inquiry and got the job done quickly, cleanly, and with very good workmanship.

We got three quotes from Angie's list A rated companies.  Dale was very responsive and mid-priced.  We liked his approach so we selected him.  His crew was ok, not the quickest but they did a fine job.  During and after the job Dale was very responsive.  So far so good.  The reason for the low rating is associated with what happened after the job was completed.  Shortly after the job was completed we noticed a leak in our 1st floor ceiling near where the chimney goes up and meets with the siding.  Dale was great, he came right out and put a bead of caulk along both sides of the chimney.  We thought that took care of it.  The next good storm we noticed that a few of our soffit eaves were hanging low and in another area the siding seemed to pop up to lift up the soffit eave.  He sent a guy to fix it.  He struggled and did his best but it was never really resolved.  As time went on we kept an eye on the leak/stain and hoped that the soffit eave wouldn't get worse.  We called a few other contractors about the low hanging soffit eave and they all said the same thing - there was a missing J channel - just call your siding guy - he'll fix it, no problem, it should be covered by a warranty.  We called Dale a few times, he insisted the eaves were cut too short and that the only way to fix it was to replace all of the soffits and he gave us a verbal quote ($3900) that included removal and replacement of perfectly fine gutters (we had them replaced before the siding - Gutter Guys did a great job).  It just didn't seem right to us.  Late April/early May 2014 we noticed that leak again.  The stain was much worse.  We called Dale.  He said that the problem was related to a roof leak (we have a new roof) or that bad soffit.  We called again after getting a few other opinions.  We told Dale that several contractors told us to get help from our siding contractor.  Dale said that the leak was definitely not due to his siding.  Fix the soffit you'll fix the leak.  Again, for $3900 it just didn't sound right.  Finally we found a contractor that agreed to do the job.  For not much money and very little time he installed the missing J channel and fixed the low hanging soffit.  He also went around the perimeter and refastened the loose siding.  He said it was just shoddy work, wrong type of fasteners, poorly installed etc.... He was very surprised we weren't able to get it resolved by our siding contractor.   All this is minor.  The big problem is the leak.  We found the leak.  Water was getting behind the siding right where the siding meets the chimney exactly where we see the stain on the 1st floor ceiling.  We determined that flashing should have been installed along the chimney.  We've since looked at other houses with new siding.  They all have that flashing.  We did contact Dale.  He said the flashing isn't required.  No comment about the low hanging soffit eave.  We called Dale many times.  He says he visited our house and he assured us that there was a J channel and that the eaves were cut too short.  Even after we told him that several others said that wasn't the case.  It's a bummer, he is a nice guy and was very responsive during the quote effort and even during and shortly after the job.  He pretty much always returned calls but we just couldn't get him to fix the problem.  I guess we have a warranty but what good is it if we couldn't get him to fix the problem?  We've learned a lot.  It's a long review.  Sorry it's not a good review but it is accurate and it does reflect our experience.  We left Dale a v.mail at the end of the repair project.  Told him that the J channel was missing, was replaced, soffits are fixed and the leak was in fact due to the siding installation etc...  Haven't heard from him.  If anything the ratings above are generous given what we've had to do and spend to get this resolved.  P.S.  We've had several good storms - no problems with the soffit eaves, no leaks either.

Update:  Very simple here.  No flashing along either side of the chimney was the reason for the leak.  Your only attempt was to caulk.  We contacted you several times to investigate further.  You refused and stated that the problem could not be from your installation and was likely from a roof leak (not possible - the roof is new) or from the low hanging soffit eaves (they were easily fixed and were not the cause of the leak).  You said flashing along the chimney wasn't required.  We disagree.  We have not had any issues since it was repaired.  No bad mouthing from any other contractors, I simply stated the facts that just happened to be from every other contractor we brought in to help us resolve the problem.  It was difficult to get the work done because most said we should go back to you for the fix.  We got frustrated and finally convinced a contractor to perform the work.  We inspected the work every step of the way and I'm confident that my review and this update are 100% accurate.

Response from Dale Rimmer Siding

"[member name removed] / Members, As customer said myself and my repair tech made multiple attempts to repair chimney leak which I believe is not our fault as we only did the siding not the roof, soffits or gutters which were not correct from when the home was first built. I am truly sorry you are not happy with our service but we DID stand behind our work, it is disheartening when other contractors bad mouth each other and as you see causes issues. If repair does not solve problem please call us and I will come out again. Once again sorry for your problems best regards Dale Rimmer"

Dale and his brother arrived in a very timely fashion.  They were very professional and explained different part of the job that they were doing.  They completed the job quicker than I thought they would.  He did have someone else come and do the gutters but they were very efficient.  They cleaned up everything with the exception of a couple of nails.  I am very happy with his work.

I was having some leakage from a rear gutter, second story, and I called Dale to make an appt. for inspection. The very next day, Don came out and was on my roof cleaning out the gutter from the maple tree "helicopters". He also inspected the gutter and found no damage, just blockage. Fifteen minutes later, the job was done, water flows properly and it turned out to be very inexpensive.
Very satisfied with the promptness and follow up call from Dale the next day.
Highly recommended.

I am sorry to report that Rimmer was difficult to contact and did not reply in a timely manner.  The siding looks good with the exception of one area which is buckling.  It has been replaced once and buckled again.
Response from Dale Rimmer Siding

"We did follow up with (removed member name) within a week but had a misunderstanding we didn't know he was waiting on us. As for the buckled siding it is from glass reflection and we will go back to assist them with this issue"

It was a little tough to get a hold of him the first time (voice mails), but as soon as we connected, everything went flawlessly.  Since Dale's company had not done the original siding installation (which was done a couple years ago), they had to get matching material of the right type and color.  They found exactly what was needed.  When the light fixture arrived slightly off-color, they reordered for the right one and came back the next day.  Everything went great.  I highly recommend Dale and his company.

Their work was good and quick; they finished in a day and a half.  Removal of the old roof involved two layers of shingels so that made it take longer to remove all of the shingles.  Dale fully explained what kind of shingles would be used and what was involved in fixing the rafters.  They did everything possible to protect the house and shrubs by hanging tarps from the roofline.  The only thing that could have been better was the clean-up of the yard.  The days they worked were windy and there was a fair amount of light debris still in the yard when they left.  Overall, they did a great job!!
