lukewarm. I called other plumbers that were recommended also but they
would not work on gas water heaters. I called Tom Newman in the morning
and we made an appointment for the same afternoon. He was prompt,
courteous and very knowledgeable. I usually ask many questions when
service people do work for me and he was patient and answered them all
very thoroughly.
He found the problem quickly and called someone to bring
the part he needed to repair it so he could start disassembling the pipe. It turns
out the fill tube that delivers the cold water to the bottom of the tank where it is heated
(the hot then rises for us to use) had broken off just inside the tank. The cold water was not going deep enough to be heated, so it moved across the top of the tank and came up the pipe leading to the house resulting in lukewarm water, never hot.
He needed to cut the copper cold water feed and remove the broken
piece, install a new fill tube, reconnect the pipe. Tom was quick and
efficient. He turned everything back on and waited to see if anything
leaked. The entire process took less than 2 hours.
