"All returns for [member name removed]were properly prepared. The refund on the IRS return is from an error [member name removed] adamantly insisted was with the IRS. He had us write a formal dispute to the IRS. He now acknowledges the IRS as being correct. Regarding his local return, following is the “combative” email he refers to reprinted in full: I am currently on vacation with my family. This is the reason for the delay in response. I disagree with your position which is based upon the assessment of the tax collector. We represent taxpayers not tax collectors and have been successful in doing so in disputes with the tax collector. We are proud of the fact that the amount of times when we are put in this position we successfully win the argument for the taxpayer as the tax collector makes decisions irrespective of any nuance or unknowns that are in the taxpayers’ favor. I wish you continued success in your direct discussions with the tax collector."
We were very surprised when they discovered some obscure Rand D credit which saved us thousands in taxes. That is exactly what we want in our accounting partner - to always be looking out for us. I am pleased with their proactive approach and I trust that they and quot;have our backs.and quot; One of the wonderful things about the Wilke is that each of the partners seems to have a practice specialty so there is always an expert available no matter what the task, you typically will only find this level of expertise in much larger, and much more costly firms. This is important as our last firm was much smaller and they did OK but OK is not good enough when you are trying to control your tax expenditures while still coloring within the lines.
"We are always regretful to hear that a client is unhappy. On these occasions we are very willing to work with our clients by correcting errors and providing discounts and interest free payment plans when applicable. In this instance, one of the three local returns we prepared for the member needed to be split between the school district and the local government. The revised local returns were sent with a revised bill for $595 on 3/12/12 which included the $100 discount. The member paid the invoice in full 7/13/2012 including services charges. +"
"As a professional accounting firm we put forth our best efforts in defending our clients in IRS audits so that they pay only what they are legally required to. In addition, with the vagueness of the tax laws a thorough clarifying discussion is necessary when meeting with IRS auditor. In this situation the tax return and QuickBooks files were not prepared by our firm but by a personal friend who made mistakes in many areas. The IRS auditor made it known to us that the primary causes of this return being chosen for an audit were because of these preparation mistakes. In consideration of the audit costs to our client, the lead accountant had one of our firm’s Quickbook’s experts (at a lower cost to the client) analyze the client’s bookkeeping entries in order to determine when and where the mistakes were made and to bring the accounts into their correct balances. A bill was sent to the client for only the hours worked. The billings for our services were ignored. We subsequently offered payment plans and they were also ignored by the client. Consequently both parties presented their case before the local magistrate who awarded our firm the full amount of the fees billed. This client’s account was subsequently paid in full."
