Description of Work: Amazing experience. I have never met a company displaying so much professionalism from the beginning phone call to the end of the job. The price they gave for the work was 2nd from the highest out of 5 companies. We went with Fairfield because we immediately felt comfortable with their knowledge base and had a very good feeling we could trust what they were saying. In the end it paid off, they followed through with all that was discussed and what was in the written in the contract, providing an exceptional job. Fairfield trimmed approx. 12 white pines with their bucket truck, pruned 15 tree's, cut down 3 dead trees removing their stumps and cleaned up to the point of hardly even knowing they were there. No debris was left behind. It was exceptionally wet that day due to the rainy season, even though they were extra careful they left some ruts in the yard. No problem...without argument they came back filled the ruts with dirt and offered to reseed and fertilize. We would definitely use Fairfield Landscaping again. The expense my be a little more with this company but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for."

 + -1 moreThe next morning the crew arrived exactly at 9:00. First they arranged to pull back the branches of the juniper so the truck could procede down the driveway. They removed the branches from the maple tree first. It took them a long time to position the bucket so that it did not harm either the maple or the garage, but they worked patiently and quietly. By 10:00, they had started to remove branches of the gigantic cherry tree. I had to leave at that point. When I arrived back home at 4:00, I was amazed that there was neither a truck nor the tree to be seen. The tree, the brush, and all the trash was completely gone. Behind the garage was a very neatly and safely stacked woodpile. I had of course told the neighbor who lives behind me that the work would be done the next morning. Now Trudy stood there beaming. We had both been worried because the huge cherry had begun to lose branches during windstorms. We had almost despaired of finding a tree service that could remove this entrapped and crowded tree from my yard without ruining parts of our property. In short, I would hire Fairfield Tree Service again in a minute-- and I probably will. Every aspect of our interaction with this company was remarkable for its courtesy, efficiency, and value.
Description of Work: We have an old farm house (1903) that is surrounded by very large, mature trees, bushes, and perrenial flowers. It was really a challenge to cut down a huge wild cherry tree that was behind the barnlike garage and beside an even larger and older maple tree. After reading its good reviews on Angie's list, we jumped at the chance to buy $400 worth of service at $199 from Fairfield Tree Service.This turned out to be one of the best invesstments we've ever made. On the day I bought the coupon, the manager called me by 11:00 in the morning. He said that he was prioritizing our order but that the company had been swamped with Angie's list customers. He promised to call to schedule a meeting ASAP. I thought, "Oh great, we'll be lucky if we ever hear from this guy again." Boy, was I wrong! He called back in two days and agreed to come to our house at 9:00 A.M. the next day. He arrived exactly on time and introduced himself politely, even though it was clear from his huge lettered truck who he was. When we walked him to the site, I expected the usual "Are you KIDDING?" that I often hear when we are trying to arrange tree service. Instead he said that they could definitely do this and that they would be sure not to damage any of the surrounding trees, bushes, flowers-- or our garage. We did not even have to be home. They would back a huge cherry picker past our juniper and work over our garage. He then gave me a price that deducted the $400-worth of work we had bought with the coupon. Then he said that the price would include hauling the wood away and taking all the trash away. When we said that we wanted the wood, he immediately took $100 offf the estimate I asked how much it would cost to have branches that were stuck in our maple tree (the result of an ineptly done topping service)removed, he said they would be happy to remove them at no charge. A few days later, he called to say that the crew would arrive at 9 the next morning, if that suited me, and it did.

 + -1 moreIt went as expected. They arrived when they were supposed to, put their grinding equipment as far up the driveway as they could get it (narrow driveway) and did their work. Because of our narrow dirveway, they could not get their bucket truck into the back yard so they removed the high branches by climbing the trees, putting ropes around the branches and sawing them off the trunk. It was an amazing feat to watch as it put some of the guys into very precarious positions. When the job was finished, they had removed everything so there was no debris. However, the removal of the large cherry tree had exposed some dead branches that were hanging from another tree that really wasn't their responsibility but looked awful because they were now visible. Bob sent his guys back at no extra charge to removes these dead branches so that the yard looked clean. They were efficient and professional. I have another tree to remove and I will use them again.

 + -1 moreI took advantage of an Angie's List Special and had Fairfield trim a 20 ft. tall hemlock tree. The crew did a great job shaping the tree. It was close to the house on one side and they were able to prune it back without making it look lopsided. The workers were very professional and courteous. Even though I was told that they wouldn't be able to do the work for several weeks (which was OK with me), I heard from them within one week and they were out to do the job the next. I would recommend this company to anyone and I am certain that I will use them for additional services.

Itemized the estimate for different jobs I was thinking about and he informed me about the Angie's List coupon. He followed up with a phone call and a visit to go over the jobs I wanted have completed and schedule the work. The crew showed up early, did a good job and cleaned up the mess. They were quick and efficient.

 + -1 moreMark came over just to give me an estimate - he was in the area at the time - and while he was here, removed a branch that had tent worms on it for no charge! He said that I would have to pay travel time for his company - an hour or more each way - which would make his estimate price higher, and that he thought I might be able to do better with a company in town. This guy is honest, considerate, knowledgeable, and fair - I give him an A+ all around :) I will definitely call him next time I need some work done.

 + -1 moreCrew arrived promptly at 7:30 in the morning and was done by 12:30. The stump in the front yard was removed and the area cleaned up. The Hickory in the back yard was dying but was not accessible by crane. It had to be climbed and taken down in sections. They cut all but 8 feet of the trunk into fireplace size logs. The bottom 8 feet was cut in half and split lengthwise for use as benches. The stump was ground out and the area cleaned up. No debris was left behind. The crew was professional and courteous.
Description of Work: Ground out a tree stump (~ 18" diameter pine tree in front yard).Took down an 80 foot Hickory and ground out the stump in back yard.

 + 0 moreI got a return call back from Bob the day after I left a message in his office seeking an estimate for work to be performed. Upon returning his call, I was unable to leave him a message on his cell as he did not have voicemail mailbox set up...? He did call me back and we had a pleasant exchange which included setting up an appointment to meet the following week. I arrived at the location on time and waited 20 minutes but BOB FAILED TO SHOW UP FOR THE APPOINTMENT NOR DID HE EXTEND ME THE COURTESY OF CALLING TO SAY HE WAS NOT COMING and to this date, I haven't heard from him... I missed close to 2 hrs. of work that day as well as inconvenienced two co-workers so I could meet up with him. Business must be so good as to blow off a potential customer and any future work or referrals for Fairfield Tree Services. Better to know now how important my business is to this company than rely on them for a project if this is any indication on how they perform their job...

 + 0 moreBob (the boss) came soon after I called, gave me a reasonable estimate, then deducted 10% Angie's List discount. He gave me a date that his guys would arrive. They showed up on that date at 8:00 a.m. and completed the work by 11:30 a.m. They did all I asked and did it very well. They cleaned up my property completely after the work was done. Bob and his workers were very courteous and professional.
Description of Work: They removed one dead tree, including the stump. They trimmed two very large trees - one deciduous, the other was evergreen. They spread mulch in a very large rock garden.

The clean up was superb -- it seems that the crew went the extra step to make sure that all debris (and more) were completely gone. I feel that I got a good and fair price for the tree removal.
Description of Work: I had two large spruce trees removed. Both trees were at least 35 feet tall -- one tree was mostly dead and the other tree was still healthy (but posed a hazard in the event it would topple over in a wind storm).

 + 0 moreThe owner of the business, Bob, is very knowledgeable and was willing to take time to discuss what they were going to do and how it would be done. They showed up on the day they said they would, on time. They worked hard all day long, from 8 AM to 6 PM, until the job was done. They did a good job of removing the stumps, cleaning up my yard and stacking the firewood that I asked them to leave behind. They even went so far as to reinstall a bird feeder that they had to remove from my yard while working. They also did a couple of other little things that I had asked them to handle without charging me anything extra. Prior to leaving they thoroughly cleaned my yard, considering it was mid october and there were already alot of leaves in the yard when they arrived, this was a nice bonus. I thought their price was more than fair for the amount of work they did and I would definately use them again and recommend them.
Description of Work: Had Fairfield remove7 trees from my yard as well as prune two large Oaks. They also ground out the stump and removed the debris I wanted removed (I asked them to leave the wood from 2 cherry tree's for my fireplace)

I also asked to keep the wood chips and the crew piled them very neatly at the back of our property. The clean up was excellent, even raking up twigs that fell during the winter from other trees! I have recommended these guys to several friends and will definitely use them in the future for more tree work. Reasonable price and excellent, professional work.
Description of Work: Cut down 3 large crabapple trees and one old, bent poplar tree. Ground up the stumps to be even with the lawn, and piled the wood chips at the back of our property so my husband and I could use them in our landscaping.
