The tech who did the install did good work.
I was charge $344.91 and they essentially broke my oven, I had never had an issue with this oven. The unfortunate event happened 2 days before Thanksgiving and made preparing the Thanksgiving dinner a mess. I am not convinced there was ever a problem with the lower oven and now it is not functioning. Major inconvenience.
The dishwasher was delivered within the time promised, about a week, by 2 delivery/installation men. They were professional, respected our home, did the installation and gave us a demonstration on how the dishwasher works. Then they hauled away our old unit. The new dishwasher has operated flawlessly and is whisper quiet. Completely happy.
Don's charged about $240.00 for delivery and installation, something you may get for free from some of the big box stores. Our neighbors bought a refrigerator from a big box store that bungled the installation, resulting in a water leak that caused major damage to their home. We're aware of other horror stories about appliance installation nightmares. So, the extra money was worth it, in our opinion, to have the installation done by professionals. The price Don's charged for the dishwasher was the same as the major retailers were charging.
"Yes that is correct. We charge a flat rate whether something is repaired or not but we do offer a 50.00 credit if a unit is not repairable and a new unit is purchased at one of our stores. We are upfront with our labor charges."
After this, we decided to go with someone else I found on Angie's list. When he arrived, he told us that our double oven had been discontinued and that he wouldn't even fix it for us... suggesting that we just purchase a brand new appliance and charging us $89 for his service call.
This being said- we decided to get a second opinion and go with Don's Appliance even though we felt the price could be extremely high by the time they fixed it.
So, what we didn't realize is that Don's charges a flat fee to service your appliance no matter how long it takes them... So, in all reality, $150 ended up being a very fair labor rate to get our double oven fixed. Every appliance after your 1st is $99 flat labor rate. They had brought a few items they thought might be needed to fix our refrigerator, which they installed the day they came... and then they installed a control panel for the double oven that day but had to order springs and a latch for the bottom oven. The cook top ended up needing a new burner and 4 new knobs which the technician ordered and came back the following week to install.
We were extremely pleased with the promptness and knowledge that our technician, Tony had. We would highly recommend Don's Appliances to anyone.... and if we ever need any other appliance repaired (which hopefully we don't), we will be sure not to waste our money with another service man first.
Unfortunately, we have a seam in the granite countertop above the dishwasher and had to make sure there was support under the countertop and above the dishwasher. The support brace that was originally installed prevented the dishwasher from fitting into the opening. A local granite company made a smaller support for me and installed it. Unfortunately, the dishwasher did not fit the second time either. I had resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to buy a smaller dishwasher, which meant a smaller number to choose from and probably a more expensive one. Our salesman, MattRendulich, asked if they could send out their kitchen expert to look at it. Matt was intent on getting me the dishwasher I actually wanted.
The guys came out and within two hours they had figured a way to install the dishwasher. They even added better support for the countertop. I was so impressed with the attitude of everyone I dealt with at Don's. I never felt like I was being a problem. All of the delivery guys were patient and respectful, even when my kitchen prevented them from doing their jobs. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for major kitchen appliances!
