Handyman Klaus

It was a horrible experience! Klaus likes to get in and get out so he can get his cash. He doesn't care about what he damages around him. When he wrote his quote, he insisted on including things that I did not want. I stated I absolutely did not want quarter round. If my flooring could not be installed without it then I would find another contractor. He said he could do it without but wanted to leave it in the bid "just in case it was needed". He never did take the charge out, even though we didn't use it! He also tried to charge for rooms that we did not have done. He insisted that we did not need to lay a pad under the laminate floor. Now are floors are very squeaky and noisy! Hinds sight I understand now he just didn't want to take the extra time to lay it! My laundry room flooring was ripped half way into the room and he did not ever bothered to tell me that he did it. When I confronted him about it he offered to patch it and it looks horrible! It's a brown "glue?" - not even flooring! (my laundry room floors are white) My laundry room floor will need replaced now. Note: there was no compensation or discount for this. Not even an apology. Rather, I was treated that I was being inconsiderate for making him "patch" the floor. All of the wood flooring was cut inside the house and the dust was everywhere. Not to mention it was down in our registers and ductwork. When they removed the dishwasher they didn't put it in correctly (it was just shoved in the hole and not even straight or hooked up correctly) and I had to hire a repairman to come reinstall it. They put big gouges in my new flooring when they were moving the furniture back and rather than replacing the boards that they ruined, they just put filler in the gouges. That didn't last long and looks awful! If they would have just slowed down this could have easily been avoided. When they did the steps they cut the fronts off of the steps! Now the steps are about 1 inch too short and you can see the spots on both sides where the remainder of the wood USED to be and now is a hole on each step going the whole way up the flight of steps! I have no idea why he did that! I bought caps for the steps that simply were to lay directly on top of the existing step. There was no reason to cut 1" off the front of the steps! It's an eye sore to say the least! In addition to that, there are gouges where there tools hit the sides of the woodwork the whole way up the woodwork of the steps. To top it all off, we did a lot of the work that was included in the quote by Handyman Klause (such as taking up the old flooring, staples and nail strips and removing the baseboards). However, we were not able to remove the kitchen tile. When we told him we couldn't get it up and asked if he was able to remove that one he said that was no problem. We asked if there would be a charge for that and he said no since we had removed all of the other flooring and baseboards throughout the house that he had already billed us for them in his quote. We would just call it even. We agreed and he removed the floor. He came in the next day and when he was getting ready to leave as he was walking out the door said "Oh, by the way, my wife said you will have to pay $300 for the removal of the kitchen floor!" What?!? You cannot change your mind on something that was already agreed upon AFTER THE FACT! One room he decided to do early (the half bath) and we didn't have the trim removed yet so he removed it. When he removed it he cracked it and never even told us but simply just put it back on the wall that way. I was glad we removed the rest of the trim in the house ourselves even though we had paid him to do it or it would have all been damaged! We also had paid to have him reattach the trim in all of the rooms and caulk around it. Once we saw the sloppy caulking job he did in the first room, we decided it would be best to do this ourselves too! A 5 year old could have done better! It was all over the walls and a complete mess! I would never use Handyman Klaus again! He's all about getting money and doesn't care what he damages around him. There is no quality in his work at all.
