Dan's Auto Tech And Towing

The tech, Dan (not THE Dan of Dan's but still a stand-up guy), was able to disassemble the puzzle box of a rear bumper and reinforcement bar assembly on a 2003 Volvo s40 turbo when others in the area 1. were too chicken to tackle it or 2. wouldn't take less than a king's ransom for the job. He was patient, conscientious, knowledgable, professional, and, frankly, just an ace mechanic.

I had gotten time estimates from other auto service and body businesses that ranged from the non-committal "at least 2 hours" to the open ended "I won't know until I can get the bumper off," which was hard to hear since the sound of money getting sucked out of my wallet got pretty prominent right around then. Dan removed the marker lights, side mounting plate, reference bar, and the actual bumper without even so much as snapping off a single plastic clip (and there were a lot of them), cracking a single clamp (and there were a lot of them), or stripping one 11 year old screw (and there were...well...you know). He didn't mar the paint or go after the rusted out rebar like a cyclops attacking a griffin. He was deliberate, careful, and let me know exactly what he was doing the entire time. He installed the new impact bar and reassembled my car's rear end all in 2 hours, and that included making sure every single component fit absolutely right. Dan completed a project that looked like it was going to run me, at the very least, 200 bucks and brought it in under 130.

The workspace is efficient and utilitarian, so if anyone's looking for air conditioned waiting rooms with buffed to mirror floors, luxurious chaise longues, beck and call concierges, or an espresso maker, this is not that. If you're looking for competent mechanics who care about keeping your car hale and hardy without putting you in a rage, a panic, or the poorhouse, this could be the place for you. Did I mention Dan was hilarious? No? Dan was hilarious.
