Our 10 pound poodle has many allergies and sensitivities, so we were happy to find a vet with lots of poodle knowledge, as well as allergy and nutrition knowledge (more than any vet we've used in 7 years of having our dog). We've used both Dr Heyde and Dr Harris. Both are excellent vets. My poodle particularly likes Dr Harris because she goes the extra mile to talk soothing baby talk to him! Their prices are reasonable compared to some vets we've used. And they have never done a procedure without telling me the cost first, which other vets have done on many occasions. The only issue I've had has been getting an appointment when its been urgent or last minute. Scheduling a week or so ahead is usually no problem. Their staff are usually very helpful, especially Gabrielle, who isn't a vet, but is extremely knowledgeable about dog nutrition. On a few occasions there have been younger staff that have worked there (maybe interns or summer help) who were less helpful on the phone/in person. But, then they seem to be gone by the next time I bring my dog in for a check up. The regular staff have always been professional.

They are available when I need them. They referred me to if they aren't there, or can't be there. They refer me to someone else. They have always cared for my pets. They genuinely concerned way, and took care of them in a very professional way. Just good care providers. They remind me when the appointment time is.

Response from PETS FIRST VETERINARY CENTER
"Although there was a very detailed and very, very long conversation with you and your husband on the phone, we still cannot diagnose any condition without seeing the patient, since your issue is a very complex one. Only a veterinarian can diagnose, but he/she needs the patient in front of him/her. The behavioral component was discussed at length with many suggestions, unfortunately none of them seem to have been convenient for you. Behavioral issues can be exhausting and extremely frustrating and will require your full commitment and patience, as was explained to you. We wish you the best of luck."

We finally decided to leave the practice after many years. Not only has it gotten very expensive (I have a big dog; never planned to leave without paying at least $100 if not more for services) but they don't seem to be able to retain their doctors. My dog liked female vets the best and several of them have left after short times here. I decided with our new pup to try a different vet since the doctor we liked had left.

"We pride ourselves in having very high standards. There are personal situations (weddings, children, spouses moving, etc.) that are not in our control, but we wish our former staff the best."

Sometimes we have a very good experience and sometimes we don't. They are not around nights and weekends and they don't call you back. We went to them because they are right around the corner. They are extremely expensive. We are thinking of changing.

"We are sorry that your experience is not always wonderful. We do show many, many phone logs to you, but we will certainly look into improving our services."

Drs. West, Hyde, and Guilliani are wonderful, caring veterinarians. They really listen to what you tell them about your loved ones and take the time to carefully and gently examine their patients. They and their staff are sure to follow-up with a phone call and/or e-mail on how your pets are doing. And most importantly, they truly care about each animal they see. While I no longer live nearby and have changed vets due to my pets inability to travel long distances, I continue to recommend them to coworkers and friends who live in the area.

I connect with the vet very easily. This is not a huge office, so you get personal attention very quickly. You will get compassionate, competent care for your animals. The staff is very professional, yet very personable. I enjoy coming here for my pet's care and trust them completely.

Doctors and staff are very caring and show real concern for our animals. They give a very thorough exam and make recommendations about vaccines. We are very pleased with their service.

We love our vet. Everyone we have dealt with there is caring and kind. We have tried several vets over the years, and the one we used to go to in the western main line who we loved retired, so it was a relief to find this practice. It is one of the few practices I have gone to where I feel confident with any of the three doctors, although we like Dr. West the best.
