Joe carefully designed and planned creative use of every inch in my small kitchen. Steve DeSantis repaired damage done by former contractor and expertly did all the carpentry and installation of drywall, new window, new exterior doors and cabinets. Ashley and Jim coordinated and supervised all the many details and offered expertise if needed, and coordinated timelines for multiple sub-contractor professionals (plumbing, electric, mason, granite, insulation). Joe helped me select KCMA certified green white shaker cabinets in correct sizes. Ashley, Jim or Joe from Madsen on-site daily. WOULD RECOMMEND AND TRUST YOUR RENNOVATION TO MADSEN, INC. Joe is welcome to have prospective clients contact me as a reference.

I called Madsen and spoke to Joe Miller and discussed a kitchen remodeling project.  He told me he would come to my house the next morning (6/3/2016) to look at the project, measure, and discuss ideas/options.  i haven't heard from him or anyone else at Madsen since.

Design phase went well, the designer was very professional, prompt and responsive plus had very good ideas and suggestions for our project. The work phase started late and took much longer than we expected. The project management was just ok as was the overall communication during the construction. As with any job there were a couple hiccups but each was handled professionally and to my satisfaction. This was the second time I used this GC and my overall experience was good. I would and have recommended them--the feedback I was given was that they are pricey, but my esperience was that the extra 10-15% was worth it for a design build--I don't have a lot of time to spend looking over someone's shoulder or running around shopping fixture selections etc, so a design/build was perfect for me.

We were told it the job would take 3-4 weeks and it took 8 weeks, with many days of no shows and frequent miscommunication between the "project manager" and the sub-contractors. The backsplash was never properly sealed and has chipped off where it meets the counter. The cabinets are not flush with the ceiling. The measurements for the cabinets and the granite were incorrect resulting in creative fixes and additional delays.

There were no follow-up calls to complete the punchlist items or to see if we were satisfied with the job. I would not use them again, nor would I recommend them.

In 2007 the kitchen was remodeled. The work from the designer to the subcontractors was done very professionally. The team always came on time and cleaned up , when the work was done for the day. Everything worked like clock work. When the carpenter was done installing the cabinets another team moved in to install the gas lines, tiles,  lights etc. They chose wonderful subcontractors, who used my older wooden floor and filled in new wood. You can never see the difference. They also stayed within the budget. After almost 6 years, when I enter my kitchen ,I get great joy out of it.
The bathroom was done in 2009. The same professional people worked there also. When there were some small repairs to be done after the wall settled in the shower , the repairs were done immediately to my satisfaction. They also stayed within budget.
I was very happy with the work Madsen did and would recommend them to my friends.

Madsen's services were excellent, a textbook example of how home improvement companies should operate.  They answered their phone the first time I called, scheduled the appointment right then and there, called 30 minutes ahead of time as promised, performed the work, and kept the price reasonable.  I can't think of anything they could have done differently.

Nobody should express the stress that I have been put through for the last six years. There is nothing that they have done here that is right. I gave them three years and they were in and out of here to do the kitchen. The addition that they put in is approximately two and three quarter inches out of square. My neighbor across the street who is a builder sent me his kitchen guy before January of 2008 and they do multi million dollar kitchens. He educated me on Madsen. The workers from Madsen would disappear. Then I called them to ask if they would finish my kitchen. I refused to pay them the balance because I wasn’t happy with what I got. I refused them to come in and they had the audacity to send me to collections. We gave them about $80000 for their project. They used drywall screws for my cabinets and you can now see that the cabinets are pulling away from the wall. My counter is an inch and a half as it goes down the wall because of the addition being out of square. My granite was never slated right; so I have gaps where the stove is. It’s wider in the back than the front. There are two doors in my kitchen on each side; one is stationary and one opens and closes. When they originally did it, I had asked for all wood on the inside and maintenance free material on the outside. They bought me builder’s grade doors from another company which were all metal; one side of it came with a dent. So, instead of replacing the whole door, they replaced the one side. Then the single entry door on the other side, they brought totally the wrong door and it had the metal thing on the inside of our kitchen. When they replaced that door and one panel, they matched. I have glass doors. There are two panels; one glass is smaller than the other. It also has different moldings on them. I will never do any construction again after this. When they put on the addition, they said that nothing would ever happen to my tile floor since it was a cement slab. I just noticed that my tiles are cracked. I have never done anything like this before and it’s my first experience. I would love to rip the whole thing out and start all over. My contract price was somewhere around $130000 and another kitchen guy who was in here told me that he could have done it for $85000. That is a big difference to me. The quality of their work is really poor. They did show up everyday. They came immediately when I called them. When they were sawing in my dining room, they left piles of saw dust every night. They didn’t even clean up after themselves. I had a very bad experience with them and I can’t tell how many sleepless nights I have had. I am an easy going person. When they put the footers in, they put them in the wrong place. They are recessed like 12 inches. We didn’t think we had footers. That’s when we called the second home inspector. I had two inspectors; the first one really didn’t want to be here because of pouring rain. So, he didn’t even go outside to look at anything. The second guy took off the siding on the addition and he had pictures of how they hadn’t put the nails in the right places. They were also too far apart. I had to hire somebody else to put up the backsplash tile and the lighting above and under the cabinets. They kept trying to call me since they had a bunch of supplies to bring here. They last came in with three little things and they really didn’t do anything, but they had no intentions on correcting the problem. When my neighbor’s kitchen guy came in and educated me on the mechanic’s lien and everything, I just told them that I wasn’t available for them to come in. In the arbitration, they said that we had three years to contact them to fix things and I had no idea that I even had that, but I wouldn’t let them back in my house. They couldn’t do it right the first time to never get it right. There is nothing that they did in my house. The walls that they put up aren’t even straight. I would never use them again.

They were very professional. The design work was superb. The initial consultation was also excellent. They explained everything really well and told me exactly how and when things would happen. Their contractors were excellent, neat, tidy, and polite. The work went very smoothly. There were no gaps and nothing to be upset about. The carpenter was excellent; he actually fed our cats for us when we were on vacation.

Replaced 4 sections of 4 sewer pipe in basement. They sent a man to quote the job. They quoted a good price. Did the job on the date agreed on. Did a good job, cleaned well after the work was completed. We have been using Madsen for all our HVAC work and have been very pleased with all their work in that area also.

Very professional. From permits to plumbing, Madsen takes care of everything. However, for this peace of mind, you will pay dearly. Prices include substantial mark up and may not be the most economical method to remodel your home.

THEY WERE PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, AND ABOVE ALL ELSE, IT WAS A VERY CLEAN SERVICE. THEIR PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN OTHER ESTIMATES I RECEIVED, BUT THE QUALITY OF WORK AND SERVICE WAS WORTH THE PRICE.
