Nick from Piccadilly Sweep was outstanding! He was on time and was very professional. He check everything over and explained what he was going to do and how he was doing it before he started work. He patiently answered all our questions. After his initial inspection he said the chimney was clean and didn't need any brushing. He cleaned out the inside of the stove and the bottom of the chimney where a number of birds had gotten in and died. He showed us the chimney cap which needs replaced and is getting back to us with an estimate to replace it. Since he didn't have to sweep the chimney he lower their original quote to reflect the actual work which was done. We were very satisfied with the work done by Piccadilly Sweep and will use them again in the future..

I initially wanted the fireplace cleaned so we could use it this winter. When Nick came for the appointment he took a good look at it and stated that the fireplace was clean and would use a shop vac to suck up the typical debris such as dust and bugs. He offered an inspection of the chimney which I decided to go with. The inspection cost $95.00 but was well worth it. They have a computer system that they use to look straight up into the chimney and check for any problems. He took about a half hour. He was very neat (especially since fireplaces do have a lot of debris/char) and thorough. Since I never had a fireplace he asked if I knew much about my fireplace and I said no; therefore he proceeded to give me the highlights on how to use and care for it. I would recommend them to anyone that needs a fireplace/chimney cleaned/inspected.

Results of inspection were satisfactory and provided estimate for repair of crown and flu liners which seemed somewhat high. They also indicated that the gas logs were old and needed replacement but they did not actually test them.

Very well. They were prompt, clean and professional. The one cap seems to be a bit crooked, but it was the best they could do without custom ordering a larger cap to cover both flus.

The representative was about a 1/2 hour late for the cleaning when he called and said he was on his way which wasn't a problem. He said we needed something called smoketite to fill in the gaps between the bricks. I scheduled him to come back and do the work. He never showed up. I didn't receive a call until 6 hours after the scheduled time saying that I needed to re-schedule because something came up.

Very well. They responded to my phone call very quickly (within 15 min.). We scheduled an appointment for the following week (ten days later), which was today, 10-27-06. The technician was over punctual, which was absolutely fine with me. He covered the carpet in front of the fireplace and inspected the chimney very carefully by looking at it with his lamp. At the second fireplace he took a rather short look, because I told him that we were not using the second one as much as the first one. So he charged only $ 90.00 all together instead of $75.00 each.

THEY CAME BACK INTO THE HOUSE AFTER THE CLEANING WITH PICTURES SAYING I HAD BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY FLUES. HE SAID THERE HAD BEEN A CHIMNEY FIRE THAT HAD DONE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FLUE & IT WOULD REQUIRE $4,822 IN REPAIRS (DOLLAR AMOUNT WAS ON A WRITTEN ESTIMATE I RECEIVED THE NEXT DAY). I WAS SUSPICIOUS BECAUSE I HAD NEVER NOTICED A PROBLEM. AFTER I TOLD HIM I HAD NOT HAD A CHIMNEY FIRE, HE TOLD ME THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF CHIMNEY FIRES; EXTREMELY LOUD & SILENT. HE SAID I MUST HAVE HAD THE SILENT KIND. HE SAID HE'S USED TO DEALING WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHICH APPROVE THESE CLAIMS. I HAD 2 OTHER COMPANIES COME OUT TO CHECK THE ISSUES & BOTH COMPANIES SAID THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE FLUE- THAT IN FACT, IT LOOKED CLEAN. ONE OF THE GUYS EVEN EXPLAINED THAT ALL I NEEDED WAS TUCKPOINTING (WHICH HE TOLD ME HOW TO DO MYSELF) & THE SMOKE CHAMBER CLEARED (USING A GAS STARTER WOULD PREVENT). IT ENDED UP COSTING ME AROUND $4 COMPARED TO THE $4,822.
