They're very friendly. They're very quick about finding you in. They're very efficient. It's a very nice and clean facility. There's a lot of good trainers there to work with. They've got really great hours as far as scheduling goes. You can get in when you need to. They're awesome. I would absolutely use them in the future.

I think it's a nice facility. I wish they have a hot steamer but otherwise, I think they offer good amenities. They had some a little bit of issue with crying in the past but I think they figured that out. I'm satisfied with them.

I like working out here - with the exception of a few times, I'm always able to get the machine that I want and find the help that I need.

Overall, if you are strictly price-driven (like I am), then this gym will be sufficient for you. Customer service is very poor and the people who work at the front desk generally are unable to answer even the most basic questions (for example - the question I asked last week - how old does a child have to be to stay in the kids club? The girl had no idea.). They are also pretty bad about communicating class cancellations (I have called before leaving my house and been told that a class was going on as scheduled, then upon arriving at the gym 10 minutes later, the class has been canceled). The gym is very crowded in the evenings and you generally have to wait to use some of the more popular equipment. Even with all of that, I give the overall experience of the place a and quot;Band quot; rating - that is strictly due to the classes. That is the main reason I use this gym. They have a wide variety of classes offered every day with pretty good instructors. I pay $29.99 per month and go to a class at least 6 times per month - you cannot find higher quality classes for $5 a month (which is in essence what I am paying). The classes are generally not so crowded that you cannot find a space, nor do they require you to sign a sign in sheet (with the exception of some of the spin classes). If you are mostly looking for group fitness, not just using the machines, and are cost-conscious, then this gym should be good enough.

I first decided to approach a member of the membership staff, who after i discussed my situation, pointed me to the front desk staff because they supposedly handled "current" membership plans. The front desk staff was completely unhelpful and unable to understand the basic math of my issue. They said that it was impossible to change my rate to $19.99 without paying an initiation fee because the "system" wouldn't allow it. (As i mentioned in the last section, i know this is not true because my buddy just proved it so at the North Hills location.) Therefore, i decided to table the issue until i could speak to someone of a higher rank. The next week i approached the membership director and explained my situation of how my wife and i have been loyal members for 4 years, and we wish to have our membership fee reduced. He responded by saying that he may be able to get us down to $29.99/month without paying an initiation fee but that i would need to talk to the office manager, who was not there on that particular day. So he told me to call back the next day between 9-5.The next day i called the office manager and explained how i talked to the membership director and explained our situation for the fourth time to him. At this point he stated that he was pretty sure that nothing could be done, but that he would "talk to some people" to see. i proceeded to explain (very professionally and calmly i might add) to him in business terms that does it make sense to you to lose $960/year (for my wife and I bc i was going to quit the gym) or only $480 (by reducing our membership fees to $19.99/month), keeping in mind that there is no incremental cost to the facility to keep us. At this point i think i confused him. So he said he would call me back shortly. In about 15 minutes he called me back saying that he talked to corporate and there was nothing he could do about lowering our rate. Therefore, i proceeded to terminate our memberships. Which, by the way, i could not do over the phone or in person. i had to mail in a form to corporate who in turn charged me for an additional month before i could officially terminate. I am pretty sure that has to be illegal in some way or another. The moral of the story is that LA Fitness, being a corporate owned entity, cares nothing about their current members, only about adding new members and generating new cash flow. The facility is grossly overcrowded at peak times, and the staff has no authority to work with members because they must head to "corporate" on any special issues. I would not look to this facility if you are looking for good service or the ability to workout without constanly waiting for machines.
Description of Work: My wife and I have been members at LA Fitness since the Bridgeville location opened in August 2008 (about 4 years). We stood with the location even after the tragedy that unfolded a few years ago with the shooter, because we made friends, took classes and enjoyed the atmosphere. Also, my wife and I purchased two years worth of training because we enjoyed working with the trainers. One of whom we are still friends with to this day.Recently, I was made aware of a new pricing scheme that new members were able to take advantage of where you could pay an an upfront "initiation" fee to basically "buy down" your rate. Therefore, there are three options available: (1) Pay $39.99/month with $0 initiation, (2) Pay $29.99/month with $99 initiation, or (3) Pay $19.99/month with $199 initiation. Therefore, no matter the option you choose, by the end of 10 months you pay exactly the same amount with any of the options, and after that (1) and (2) end up paying $20 and $10 per month after the more than Option 3.As a member since 2008 I was only given the option of paying $39.99/month with $0 initiation, so i figured i would be eligible to reduce my rate to $19.99 having been there for about 47 months and paying the highest available price plan for that entire duration. (Effectively i paid about $1,640 more over the 4 year span than someone who would have been able to purchase the $19.99 plan with $199 initiation.) Therefore i decided to talk through my options with the staff to see if they could work with me on reducing my rate because of my loyalty to the gym and the extra $2,400 my wife and i spend on training over a two year period. On top of this, my good friend just joined the North Hills location for $29.99/month with no initiation. (Apparently a third mystery option).
