Everyone told me that our planned home renovation would be a stressful disaster. They coudln't believe we would undertake such a large project.
With Action Builders, this large project was actually enjoyable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Action Builders are timely, professional, reasonable, and experienced. With a project this size, one would expect change orders in the $10k range. With Action Builders, we honestly squabbled over a hundred dollars here and there. Randy and Elizabeth keep track of everything down to the penny. You always know where you stand in terms of the budget. Their pricing is a lump sum fee and we didn't have any hidden or surprise change orders. The change orders were all changes that we, the Owners, made or requested.
Our main laborers, Jimmy and Franky, were great. They were clean, professional, courteous, and funny. Tools and supplies were always cleaned up at the end of each day. I loved that they picked up garbage regularly instead of having a large ugly dumpster at my house for months on end.
We did a fair amount of work on our own for this project in order to keep costs down. Action Builders worked with us on this and left time in their schedule for us to complete tiling, painting, etc.
We will absolutely have Action Builders back for our next project (the basement) when we are ready.

I cannot say enough great things about our experience with this business, it's owner and it's workers - it was fantastic from start to finish, and the end result has been spectacular even years later. Randy and his crew were always promptly on time, cleaned up at the end of each day, were courteous, and happily tolerated my daily multiple questions. They were respectful, friendly and did A+ quality work. Even though this addition was done almost 10 years ago, I just joined Angie's List and felt they did such an outstanding job that I had to write a review. Since completing work for us, I have referred 3 separate friends/relatives to Randy for extensive work - each hired him and were delighted with his work.

first let me say the ratings categories are not practical. It should be a satisfied, not satisfied rating system.
- not all the work was bad. We would rate a and quot;Dand quot; for the tile work because of sloppy installation.
First, a crew came in and started work
Randy was the general contractor
Good job:
1. on drywall and interior construction and reconfiguration of walls.
2. Woodwork -Hardwood floors - have found some holes. trim work and finishing - good, doors ect.
3. Exterior brick work

The contract said job would take 3-4 mos. At the end of 4 mos, we had to move back in understanding that work would continue.
    COMPLAINTS:
    1. I packed all my things in the garage out of the house. They sawed and cut drywall ect. in garage and everything in it had to be cleaned! dishes, china, furniture ect!

2. At the start, the sub contractor on site assured us all the bathroom tile would be flush and even and nice. Then he started having problems. He was the working by himself . The tile he installed around tub had uneven, messy grout lines. The tiles were not flush, or lined up well. He was told to fix some tiles and move shower rod. Then ended up cracking tile and redoing it sloppy.
Each time we complained, Randy sent him back to and quot;redoand quot; his work

We kept complaining and were into month 6. Then Randy sent some guys to complete the job. They were to repair the tile jobs in the hall bath and the master. They wrapped things up as they felt they were there long enought too. They completed and quot;to his satisfactionand quot;.

Then we started to look closely.
The master bath

    1. 1. The tile job in the master shower (which we haven't used yet,) is sloppy with and quot;wideand quot; grout to accommodate misplaced tile, an uneven shower floor tile with sharp edge tiles sticking up in places. And this is all after the redos!!
    2. 2, The grout is cracking in all the corners.
    3. 3. In fact, they did not correct the shower floor tile - the water puddles in the corner and we have to scrape it down the drain with out foot.
    4. 4. The glass mosaic accent tile is all unevent, some pushed in and not flush. Sloppy.
.5. They pulled the vanity off to reposition it and ended up with smeared calkin on the vanity that I had to scrape clean.
6.. Then they patch painted over their wall repairs with the wrong paint from the other bath and they knew there were 2 diffrent colors.
7. The hall bath after a number of re-dos had a cracked floor tile in corner and clumps of grout in spots on the floor that I had to scrape off.
We have concluded that they are not very experience with bathroom tile work even though they said it would be neat

Exterior: brickwork was very good.

Electrician - we had whole house rewired - he complained because we questioned where he put outlets and he put light switches in inconvenient and quot;very odd placesand quot; The Island switch with dimmer is in the diningroom by the door leading to the garage, but no switch to go into garage. He made selfish excuses for things we were'nt satisfied with. We are not happy with the electrical.

Now we have to live with these eyesores and inconveniences. We finally had to recalk the shower ourselves. Each time I clean I find more holes, cracks ect. that were'nt caught before.
