I was first impressed with the punctuality of Minor Carranza for our appointments. But more importantly, I am always impressed with his honesty, integrity and sense of responsibility. I have worked with numerous contractors over the years in my rental property business and I can say that all of the traits mentioned above are rare in the contractor community. His prices, while not the lowest are middle of the pack, but you can always count on his doing what he says he is going to do!

This was a tremendous success. The actual work started later than we had anticipated by about 2 months due to some staffing changes, but once they started it moved along very well. The finished project exceeds our expectations in every way. This was a big job, they had to remove a jetted elevated tub, move a wall to enlarge the shower, new floors, door, vanity and all new shower wall with beautiful marble tiling.

This is the third time we have used Carranza Home Remodeling for work on our home. This time they replaced the back door. The door is high quality as described. The seal is tight eliminating the drafts we were experiencing with the old door. The workers were punctual and they left no debris. Minor (the owner) is a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Carranza.

Rob was phenomenal. He did a tremendous job working with us on a redesign of the kitchen and subsequently managing the day-to-day work on-site. He provided just the right balance of really listening to what we wanted and guiding us towards making decisions that we are truly happy with. He is the kind of guy that thinks outside the box during the design phase to let you see the potential for a space that you didn't realize. When the project got underway, he kept to schedules and budget. His team of guys were respectful and very detail oriented. The output is a kitchen that we absolutely adore. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Carranza again for any home improvement or maintenance project. I look forward to working with Rob again.

From Day one, Rob communicated to us every detail about the project.  He sent me pictures of the damage as they took the stone off the walls.  He explained to me why certain pieces needed to be replaced and how he could cuts costs, but not at the expense of the quality.  His team of workers were all VERY professional, timely, and meticulous.  Given this is our rental home and we were not expecting to spend $29K on unforeseen damages, Rob/Carranza made it a wonderful experience.  The project was completed on time, the costs were exactly what we expected, the attention to details was a great surprise, and the communication, from Rob, was refreshing.  I've worked with a number of different contractors over the years, but Rob/Carranza is by far our best experience.  They turned a tough situation into a very good one.  I would HIGHLY recommend Rob and Carranza for ANYTHING related to home remodeling, roofing, siding, etc.

Let me start by saying, I am very happy with the roof & gutter work done by Carranza Home Remodeling. My roof was leaking so I called up Carranza Home Remodeling office. Minor spoke to me and he setup an appointment.

Minor, visited my place, diagnosed the issue and gave me multiple options. He gave me estimation for repair and an estimation for changing roof and gutters. I felt the estimation for changing roof & gutter was fair. So I decided to change the roof & gutters.

From start till end of the project, Minor was completely involved. The labors who worked on the roof did a good job by cleaning the area nicely. Overall, I am very impressed with Carranza Home Remodeling. I would surely recommend Carranza Home Remodeling service to anybody.

I was very pleased with the entire experience. Carranza was very professional from the start when they came out to give us an estimate.  They were both friendly and knowledgeable. They even brought large shingle samples to the house for me to put on the garage roof so that I could decide on a color and see in person how the shingle colors looked next to my house color. Because of their patience and extra effort, we knew we wanted to work with them.

The crew arrived early and worked late. The product is beautiful, of high quality, and guaranteed for 50 years. I was thrilled to see how conscientious the crew was regarding the cleanliness of the property. Tarps were draped from the roof to cover the house and prevent damage to the house and my shrubbery as the old roof was removed. Carranza brought in a large truck to haul away the debris, which made it unnecessary to have a dumpster in my driveway (a huge plus). The crew also walked the perimeter of the house with a large magnetic pole to gather any of the roofing nails that may have fallen into the yard and mulch. This was very much appreciated as I have children and dogs that play in the yard.

The owner is very involved. During the project I had a few questions and even a change in trim color and the owner came out, answered my questions and made the change in trim color happen. It is safe to say that my expectations were exceeded and I am already looking forward to working with this company again in the future on another home project.

Steps were completed, but they did not replace all rotted boards. We called them back twice.    Still the work was not finished.
Also the railing they replaced was of such poor quality that my husband tried to sand it so my grandchildren would not get
splinters.  But it was just too much work for him. He will be 81 10/16/14. We called them and asked them to come and look at the work that was done because we were so unhappy, they said they would come ,but they did not and we never heard from them again. We finally had to call in another contractor to put a new railing on and finish replacing floor boards.
So you see we would never recommend them to anyone.

Obtaining approval from the HOA added a lot of time and complications. Additional delays were caused by inadequate paper-handling procedures in Carranza's office. But once the windows finally arrived, the job was schedule promptly, the 2 window installers did an excellent job and cleaned up thoroughly. All difficulties were taken care of by Minor and Rob, so overall they get an A rating.

The installer was prompt did excellent quality work.  He was detailed & completed it showing attention to detail.  The install was checked by one of the owners who noted something additional that was needed (I believe more caulk) which was addressed within 24 hours.  The installer was neat & tidy cleaning up afterward thoroughly.  Thank you for a job very nicely done!

Carranza stepped in and performed admirably.  Had 2 bathrooms remodeled and they look great.  Rob had his crew first fix the mistakes of the previous contractor, and then finished the remodeling job.  Because of the problems that we had with initial contractor, Carranza had to do extensive drywall repair to walls and ceiling, as well as fix a leak coming into my family room.  Rob acted as the overall lead contractor, coordinating schedules with my wife as the job continued. Rob also supported us thru the insurance claim process.  So, ultimately, this job entailed dry wall repair, painting, hardwood floor installation, and bathroom remodel, which included new tile and fixtures, and a glass shower enclosure.
We are extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and the professionalism of Carranza.  Have recommended them to many of our neighbors and, frankly, the work speaks for itself.

Demolition of my kids'  bathroom started May 27, 2014. I was promised it would be done in 2, 3 weeks tops. If only. I just locked the door behind the last Carranza contractor to step foot in my home. Today is August 14, 2014. An entire Summer. It looks great. It really does. I love it. However, it was a very long, painful experience. This is the 4th job I've given Carranza (plus many referrals). My first 3 were windows and gutter replacement. I was very happy with the quality and customer service provided at that time. Many things have changed. I believe they are not ready to do total home improvement. They should stick to roofing, windows, gutters and siding.
I should add, I asked Minor Carranza for some sort of discount for all the trouble we went through. Reminding him that I am a loyal customer who has provided work to his company in the past and given many referrals to friends and neighbors. No empathy. Not a penny off. He continued to tell me (over and over again) how much money HE lost on this job. No kidding! It took over 2 months to finish a small bathroom!

"[member name removed], As a business owner, reading this post really upsets me. There is much more to this story that you failed to mention. This project was anticipated to be completed in 2 weeks. In total, our actual working time was 2 weeks and 2 days. As you know, we ran into many delays that were beyond our control when making the final touches on the project. These delays included arriving four (4) times at scheduled appointments to find no one at home and the inability to schedule the work to be completed due to your vacation. We also had the unexpected difficulties which arose from the defective vanity you purchased on your own, rather than allowing us to use our chosen vendors and then attempted to hold us responsible for it. Despite this fact,we agreed to have our professional painter fix it at no additional cost (he, too, arrived to find no one home and we had to compensate him for this). Our work is beautiful, as you have already stated. It appears at this juncture that the only reason we are receiving this more-than-unfair review is because we are making attempts to receive final payment for our services as per the terms of our signed contract. We value you as a customer and we are extremely proud of the finished product. It saddens me that you chose to make these disparaging remarks despite your happiness with the final outcome."

We based our selection on excellent Angie's List reviews and a knowledgeable presentation from their salesman. They called and scheduled the work in a timely fashion and showed up to start when promised. From there on, it was mostly down hill.

Their project manager never showed up again once the project was started and the crews proceeded with little or no supervision from then on despite a complaint to Mr. Carranza. He came one day and talked to me but I never saw him again either. They did not order custom sized sky lights to match my existing which would have required only some minor molded work on the inside. They installed standard off the shelf sizes that were larger than my existing one and I now have some major work to do on the inside to facilitate these new sky lights. These sky lights were poorly installed. Neither has all of the mounting screws installed and one sky light has about a 3/4 inch gap between the gasket and the mounting structure on one corner. They screwed up on estimating and ordering the wrong roofing materials for the back porch. They originally said it could be done with shingles but it turned out that the pitch was too low so they had to do it with roll roofing and now I'm left with a porch roof that is a different color than the rest of my roofs.

Their siding crew was worse. They went after the house like a wrecking crew which was fine for the old siding but didn't fair well for some of the other things around the house. They did not have an electrician come out and remove the exterior lighting fixtures or dismount the electric meter box but went after them with crowbars in the case of the meter box which was caved in on one side or the case of the lighting fixtures which were either damaged or had mounting parts missing. The condenser unit for our AC system has several major dents in the top of it. Their clean up was poor. We spent weeks picking up hundreds of old and new nails that kept showing up in the driveway and around the house and we're still finding debris around the house from their work.  They did send an electrician out to repair the electric meter box and provided me with a small credit for the damaged lighting fixtures and were suppose to come back to address some other areas that needed adjustment but we have not heard from them except for a call around the end of the year saying they would be out as soon as the weather improved. It's been a month now since the bad winter weather has eased and we've yet to hear anything further from them.

Update: They have since come back out and done a nice job correcting the sky light installation. We are still waiting for repairs to AC comdenser and I've noticed that siding on the first floor in the back of the house is crooked. We just recieved an invoice from them where they have not indicated the credit that was promised for the damaged lighting fixtures.

We met with the salesman (Ron) in early October 2013.  He brought example windows and we decided to purchase composite windows manufactured by Interstate because, though more expensive and heavier than vinyl, Ron explained that they would be more energy-efficient.  After being awarded the job, Ron asked me to tell him what one of the key competitors quoted; I would not provide this information because I considered this to be unethical.  Ron estimated they would install the windows in late November.  Eli came out to measure the windows within a couple of weeks.  Unfortunately, he did not measure the hopper window and needed to return to take this measurement.  He returned about 2 weeks later to get the final measurement, and then the order was placed.  We received a call from Minor that the windows were ready to be installed shortly after Christmas, which was about a month later than originally planned.  The crew arrived on time on the scheduled installation date and discovered that the windows were not deep enough for the composite windows to fit.  The crew needed to cut the drywall in each window a couple inches deeper on each side to make the windows fit.  This resulted in substantially greater labor for the crew and caused the job to take longer to complete.  Also, because the installation started in January, we ran into problems with cold weather and the crew could not work on many days (snow and/or temperature below 30 degrees).  When the job was completed, I noticed that most of the windows were leaking a lot of air at the point where the sashes meet.  Also, because the drywall cuts were not straight, the point where the windows met the drywall did not look good cosmetically.  With respect to the leaking air, Carranza contacted Interstate and was informed that the windows were leaking air because Interstate had not included insert tabs that were supposed to be part of the order.  These tabs were on back order and after 3-4 weeks all of the tabs were shipped to Carranza, who returned to install the tabs in each window at no charge.  With respect to the cosmetics, Carranza offered to install primed quarter round molding in each window for no labor charge if I reimbursed Carranza at cost for the materials ($186.56), which I agreed to.  After installation was finished, I painted all of the trim white, and since the window sills needed it, I went ahead and painted the window sills as well.  This was not labor that I had expected to expend, but the window sills were in need of fresh paint anyway.  The windows do look very good, and they are not leaking air now that the insert tabs have been installed.  Although the job started later and took longer than expected, Carranza stayed with it and did complete the job to our satisfaction and did everything they said they would do.  The crew was also very professional and friendly and I give them a lot of credit for sticking with this difficult job through cold weather.

I got several estimates and they were based on people that I found on Angie's List so I called several people and it shows Carranza. They weren't the highest price or the lowest price but I like the representative because I felt comfortable with them. Their quality of work was good. In their presentation and work they covered aspects of the job that the other companies weren't offering like upgraded under liniment.

The Carranza employee on the site was Rob who was patient, professional and punctual.  He was very respectful of my home, time and feedback.  I am a first time home owner and this was my first big project and Rob listened to my ideas and created a plan that delivered what I wanted in the price range I was limited to.  I would absolutely use them again and plan to do so in the spring.   I

Carranza was professional throughout.  The quality of the work is excellent.  They completed the roof in 1 day and we were very satisfied with the work.  They used a large magnet to pick up nails and did an OK job (although we did go through afterwards and pick up again).  Their gutter team came a few days later and removed the rest of the gutters and replaced them as well as any damaged fascia. The gutter team was not as neat and left a lot more bits of metal and screws around.  They also were not as careful with the plants surrounding the house - but did a great job.  Next came the window crew.  The window crew managed to damage several sections of the new roof, but the windows look great and work well when they were done.  With the final inspection, the sections of roof that were damaged were marked and replaced in less than a week.  Over all we are very satisfied with the quality of work that they did.  Any concerns that we had were quickly rectified.
