Colby Remodeling

We've used Colby Remodeling for a number of jobs and were always satisfied with the work and customer service until the last job of installing hardwood floors in multiple rooms. The floors look good from afar but up close, the detail work is lacking and does appear professionally installed. Gaps in floorboards were left or filled in with brown putty where the cut was an obvious misfit and trim work was not flush with walls or floors. Thinset cement was still wet, oozing, and creating an uneven transition after 72 hours despite assurance that it would be stable at 24 hrs. Unexpected damage done to walls and ceilings during installation was either not at all or poorly repaired and will require additional work to rectify. When we expressed dissatisfaction with many of the details, there was no offer to discuss solutions and we were informed the job was done. Instead of being able to move back into an entire floor of our house, we are spending our time and money fixing the problems by installing shoe moulding, mudding, sanding, and painting. Very disappointed.

Perry (Chuck) Collby came to my house to review the project. He was timely for the appointment and was able to meet my schedule. He presented a accurate written quote and also included a certificate for insurance with out my asking. After completion we reviewed the project and he explained how the drain screens worked and how the heat tape would need to be installed. He also explained some issues that I may have that were from the previous roofer that may need to be addressed in the future.

I will use Mr. Collby in the future for upcoming projects.
