Bruce and his crew did an outstanding job completing my deck project. Bruce was attentive and accessible during the entire project. His team members were professional and the quality of the work speaks for itself. I would recommend these guys to anyone wanting to have a deck built.

My deck was built ahead of schedule, as Bruce fit me in, when another customer did not have the requisite permits. Rain held up completion, despite starting early, but then the contractor doesn't have control over either weather or climate. I have to note too that whereas earlier reviewers said that there could be delays in getting Bruce to respond to messages, I experienced nothing of the kind. He responded quickly, even immediately. Decksunlimited's carpenters, Bill and Joe, did an exceptional job on my deck, tearing out the old one and rebuilding a new one, even exceeding expectations. There is no exposed wood; everything is clad either in vinyl, or sections of composite floorboard. It is extremely solid and attractive, and I expect that it will outlive me. Further, Bill and Joe found some bad water damage to my house, which I knew was there, just not as bad as revealed, due to poor workmanship on improvements by previous homeowners. They repaired it extremely well, and in accordance with the contract I signed with Bruce, and for less money than I expected. Now, would I recommend decksunlimited and its people to others? It's a moot question, as I already have, and talked them up on Facebook too. Consider this review another recommendation, to anyone who reads it.

Bruce stood behind what we discussed and our deck is beautiful. He demolished the old one and removed and the new one is composite wood and a beautiful railing. Our underdeck was extensive, with an under-deck sealed and draining system. These guys did beautiful work and cleaned up every day. My deck is beautiful, more than we ever dreamed of. Thank you, Bruce and his guys do awesome work.

Bruce Monsour and his team did a great job demolishing the original wood deck and building a new composite deck on the rear of our home. It was a very challenging project since the deck is elevated from the basement level up to the first floor. The suggestions he provided on the design of the deck were very thoughtful and his team executed the design perfectly. We are extremely pleased with our new deck, especially the intricate stair design and finishing touches with the multi-colored rails, spindles, and decorative caps. We would recommend the work of Bruce and his team to others without reservation.

Bruce and his team converted our deck to composite Trex over the existing frame and replaced a water damaged post. The quality of work was very good and it looks great. Bruce's expertise allowed us to identify the best approach to use given the design of the frame. The crew was friendly and fast. The deck is beautiful and we really enjoy it.

At first, I had trouble making contact with him. He would not return calls and that was after giving him the down payment. Finally after sending a message saying if I did not hear back from him I was going to find someone else. After that message, he got in touch with me and said he would be out on a certain day. He did show up on that day he said and worked on the deck every day after that. I must say his work was excellent. The deck really turned out nice and actually better than I had expected. Other than the trouble with communicating at the start the deck turned out better than I expected.

Very responsive in the beginning to get the contract and a deposit of $2k. After that, non responsive; however, when my wife finally was able to reach Bruce, he was very unprofessional!!! In addition, she called him on a unrecognized number and he picked up. Bruce is not worth the time when his customer service is very, very substandard. He hasnt even started the work yet!!! Home Advisor needs to reject his business practice!!!

The deck turned out beautiful and the work was quality work.

The guys put a small deck for us, its beautiful. They got the job done quickly and completely cleaned up when finished.

Only reason Bruce and his team don't get 5/5 is because they are extremely busy and may tack a little bit of time to get to your project. Also, sometimes Bruce can be difficult to get a hold of. But considering the pandemic and everything and access to materials; it is no problem. Once his team starts working on a project; you will get great quality, easy adjustments, and trouble-free work. We will be hiring him again and I suggest their work to anyone.

Bruce can be hard to get a hold of at times, but once his crew starts your project, they do excellent work!! I would recommend them to all of my friends. We are extremely happy with the deck they built for us, so much so that we are going to use Bruce again to add on to the deck his crew just built!

Bruce and his team did a great job of designing and building our new deck for our home. We have received several complements from our neighbors and friends for how nice it looks and the quality of construction. Of the contractors we interviewed he was the only one who took the time to accurately review the design of the deck, materials choices and what the best practices are for the construction. His team is very friendly and worked hard to complete the deck in a timely manor. Overall, they are great to work with and really know how to delivery a great final product at a reasonable cost.

Bruce and the team did a great job on a 2nd story large deck. The work was completed on time other than for a weather delay, and on budget. They also came up with some great alternative designs, that really improved the look of the deck. Great Job Guys!!! I would use them again.

My husband and I are very happy with our beautiful deck, pergola and steps. We interviewed at least 5 other contractor in the Pittsburgh north areas area. Not only did Bruce provide a detailed drawing and description, quote, but his cost was very reasonable. He is extremely busy so I learned that patience is necessary when hiring Bruce, but it is worth the wait. We get compliments every week on our deck and are immensely satisfied with the outcome. Excellent! Bruce heard us when we told him what we wanted. Offered some nice design suggestions. Explained the process and materials. Work was done on-time and on-price. Had a couple minor "appearance" issues that were promptly addressed and corrected. Highly recommended.

This was a mistake from the beginning. Full disclosure, it's my own fault for hiring a deck company to do interior work. The owner Bruce responded to my basement remodel because he was interested in doing inside work during the winter. He seemed very knowledgeable during our initial meeting, and the price was right. You get what you pay for. The work involved 1) leveling a basement floor 2) installing a laminate floor 3) replacing the drywall and 40 installing a drop ceiling. The ceiling was installed, but the finished result had an open junction box with a live wire hanging from ceiling. He did fix upon my request. The floor was poorly installed, the floor leveling was not done properly so the laminate floor has numerous soft spots that sag and bend under foot. The drop ceiling in laundry room was glued to the supports, so I had to break them out to turn the gas back on after remodeling (they forgot to turn it on). When asked to fix, it was very sloppy. The floor was installed before the drywall (which I thought was odd, but didn't say anything). I was shocked when the floor was done and Bruce was ready to leave the job without doing the drywall - he "said we're not doing drywall". Of course I had my contract that showed that was part of the agreed work, but he had no recollection that was a part of the work to be completed. It took another week for them to complete this because they were scheduled elsewhere. When the workers were done with the drywall, all the electrical sockets and light switches were recessed by a half inch behind the drywall, and I had to call to have him come out to make the outlets flush. He did make the outlets flush, but 3 of 4 outlets didn't work and there were holes and gaps between the wall plates and drywall. Poor quality. Lastly, the mess they left was not acceptable. After they thought they were done with the job (but they forgot about the wall), there were two beer cans and food containers left around my basement, I had to clean that up. After work was done to fix all of the mistakes the first time, all of the clean-up was left to me (pieces of drywall, drywall dust, screws, plastic bags the outlets come in) All of the demolition materials were left in a pile behind my garage (contract didn't call for removal, also my fault for not checking prior). Basically, any clean-up was left up to me. Lastly, he didn't do a good job of checking with me before making decisions. He made a poor choice for a drain cover in the basement floor (he used a heating vent!), he cut the floor and installed it without ever checking with us, and now the floor now has a square hole over a round drain. It looks awful. As I said earlier, you get what you pay for. I should not have hired a deck contractor for inside work. I only write this in case someone else had the same idea. He may be great with decks, but interior work is not among his strengths. Absolutely would not recommend.

This was a horrible experience. First Bruce told me in July 2016 after I signed the contract and paid him over $5200 that he would have the job started in first or second week in September. When this did not occur, I tried several times to call him and leave him a message. He never returned my call. I finally left him a very stern message at the beginning of October that if he didn't call me back I would take legal action to get my money back. He ignored this message. On Friday October 14, 2016, he finally answered my call saying he was busy with other things and would start the job on October 17, 2016. I told Bruce it was already late in the year and it was getting colder so I wanted him to return my money. He said he was only three weeks late repeatedly to me whenever I asked him to return my money. At one point he said he had a cash flow problem and didn't have the money. He said "I will make this right for you by taking a $1000 off the agreed price of the project, and throw deck lighting for free" and he was ready to start the job in three days. I told him I wanted him to agree to not take any more money from until the project was done completely. He said he would agree to this and put it in writing which he never did. The project was started on October 17, 2016 and completed on October 24, 2016. There was one minor issue that he fixed and today whenever I paid him for the remainder of the job he said could I please pay him the original price since he just had some brake issues on his vehicle. I told him no because of what he told me he would do about taking a $1000 off the project. He pleaded with me a couple more times and said he was only three weeks late which was actually a month and a half late. Whenever I repeated no because that is not what we agreed on, he said "You don't have a heart. You're an a**h**e." This verbal abuse by the owner of this business is highly unprofessional and uncalled for. Mr. Monsour does not take responsibility for his actions but instead blames me for his own actions. I deeply regret having done business with this individual because he is untrustworthy and does not do what he promises at the time. If back in July he would have been honest and told me he wouldn't be able to start the project until the middle of October, I would have never agreed to having him do the project. This entire transaction has left a bitter taste in my mouth and I would never recommend this company to anyone. I will say that the deck is beautiful but the experience dealing with Bruce has been a nightmare and very stressful. To verbally abuse a customer is unthinkable and that is what Bruce did with me. I hope Homeadvisor strongly admonishes him for his unprofessional behavior. No customer should have to endure this business practice that Mr. Monsour has done with me. He needs to accept full responsibility for his actions instead of blaiming me and giving lame excuses for his unprofessional behavior.

I initially gave them a very poor review. Since then the deck has been completed. I am very pleased with the workmanship and the completion time once the project was started. Bruce touched base with me a number of time to make sure that the job was meeting my satisfaction. Overall I'm very happy with the new deck. My only complaint was that Bruce could have been a little more responsive before the project was started.

My wife and I replaced our deck in May 2015 and received a very favorable quote and design from Bruce. We live in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and also received bids from other contractors. Bruce did a great job of designing a wonderful deck that we are enjoying today. The contractor team individuals were very professional and were able to complete the project clsoe to the stated timelines. The decking material had an issue with shrinkage due to the sunshine and heat, but that has been remedied, partially by Bruce and partially by us. Overall, very satisfied with our beautiful new deck! Great job to Decks Unlimited!

Sometimes contractors get busy and you have to call them, I only had to call once, schedules are hard to keep with the weather sometimes so the project was completed a couple of weeks later than I would have liked but that said, once they were there it got done quickly, efficiently and correctly. Everyone was professional, courteous and clean. I was out of town on business , and they completed some prep work I was going to take care of without complaint or additional cost, even replacing an outside socket that I never got to work. All in all you can't go wrong with this company. They are very proud of their work and document it well before they leave. price was much better than each competitor who bothered to return a quote.
