Good. Greg is awesome. Some little details missed by some of his crew, but Greg always worked to get it fixed and looking great. Install was smooth. Cleaned daily, and very professional.

Greg was very responsive and professional.  Even though the job went longer than originally quoted, he stayed within budget and even worked on July 4th to complete it.

We are extremely happy we chose Gregg to install our floor.  He was very professional and knowledgeable and was very fair when it came to pricing.  I would recommend him to anyone and we will absolutely hire him again for any future projects.

His service was excellent!  A great experience.  He and his crew stayed late on a Saturday to get the flooring installed.  Unheard of!!!  I would definitely use his service again.

They were very professional and responsive.  The demo and installation took two days.  One day for the demo and one day for the installation.  If I had any questions, they took the time to thoroughly answer them.  They took their time and really seemed to want to do the job right with little waste of the wood.  They did an excellent job on everything and we now have a beautiful floor for years to come. I would highly recommend this company.

From Start to Finish excellent experience. Gregg was quick to respond to my emails & calls and gave me a great estimate which proved to be dead on. In an effort to try and haggle a better price like you can do with many contractors when you get multiple bids I asked him if the quote he had given me was the best he could offer (even thou it was already the best quote for both jobs). He stood by his quote, insisting that he gives his best price from the begining and stands by the quality of his work knowing that his price is more than competitive in the industry.  I appreciate that he didn't play games with his prices and with the experince he had felt confident choosing him over 3 other contractors in the philly area. He also works closely with DirectBuy whose sales associates speak very highly of him and are grateful to have him as a resource. Gregg's team was ontime every morning, super polite and professional. During the install we had a leak in our kitchen unrelated to the install which delayed their work. The team was super understanding that these things happen and came out the next morning to finish what our home had made a 3 day job. The hardwood looks gorgeous and the carpets are perfect! Overall extremely pleased from the quote to the install. You can't really ask for more.

My first experience was with a man named Tim, who was extremely rude from the moment he came to the door. I asked him to be careful not to scratch my hardwood floors while going through the house to the attic. He became upset and called me "Lady" and told me not to tell him how to do his job. He laid the rug in the attic, and botched our $4,000 paint job. He was very rough with the paint, and even after I pointed out that it was new paint and asked him to be careful, the paint was chipping all along baseboards. One of the walls was cracked when he was done after he roughly shoved something against it, and although the rug itself looked fine, I was upset to see how badly the paint was messed up. They then laid a kitchen floor, which took four visits to get right. There was a bump in the middle of the floor, which required multiple visits. They left big one inch gaps here and there along the bottoms of the cabinets, which they did come back out and fix. However, I was left with the impression that they simply throw down the flooring and wait to see if the homeowners object, at which point they will return and attempt a repair. In the attic, there are two sets of steps. One is perfect--the rug is right up against the sides of the steps, and it looks very good. On the other set, it was toothy and there were gaps between the rug and the wall. Gregg did come back out to fix the steps, and we were pleased. However, over time, the rug has pulled more and it is still toothy and gaping. Where the steps join the risers, the lines are all uneven. We have been calling him to come back to repair these steps. We think the patchwork he did to repair the steps was not done well. He said the house is old, and the steps are uneven. We measured and the difference in size is negligible. The other landing has rugs that are perfect, so his argument that the house is too old to get the rug correct does not make sense. He has blown us off, and is not responsive. Our designer even tried contacting him with no response. We paid a lot of money for the rug, and it is not done correctly. I would vastly prefer to have a contractor who did the work right the first time. Although they did respond at first, it has been impossible to get them to come back out. I am very unhappy with them and would not use them again.
Response from Hannum Hardwood and Tile
"This member has been the most difficult customer that I have worked with in approximately 15 years of contracting. My company installed carpeting in the 3rd floor (formerly an attic space) and vinyl flooring in the kitchen for this homeowner. I have 22 emails and countless (at least a dozen) phone calls from this client, most of which included slanderous, exaggerated, malicious accusations not unlike those in this complaint. I have saved all communications with this client, and can produce them, if necessary, to validate my claim. Many calls have come late at night and on the weekends. I have tried to be understanding, patient, and professional with this client. They have been extremely difficult to work with - other contractors have quit their contracts with this client due to their unreasonable demands. We have addressed several exaggerated complaints via callbacks and I have already replaced the carpet that they are unhappy with and yet - they remain unsatisfied. I have scheduled an appointment to meet with this client. He limited his availability to Friday afternoons. I took time out of my schedule to meet with this client - uncompensated time. He did not record the date and time of our meeting correctly and sent a rude email when he mistakenly thought I did not show. The designers and other contractors on the this project have also been rudely treated by this customer. I believe that my company has been extremely accommodating, has done excellent quality work and gone beyond what would be reasonable in order to satisfy this customer. Gregory Hannum-Owner"
