I've used a couple tree services over the years and Shannon Hand (and crew) are hands down the BEST I've ever used, or seen. Got to us quickly gave us a very reasonable price, and took care of incidentals with minimal additional cost. In addition, his team works with great precision, safely lowering limb's from a tree overhanging my fence and garage, and dropping trees in other tight places. Absolute 100% satisfaction with a job well done.

The tree service and limb clean-up was fair.  Several trees which were cut down fell against a specimen tree, a dawn redwood, breaking several limbs.  Many smaller branches from the trees which were cut down, were left lying on the ground.  We felt the cost for this work was reasonable, however the clean-up was only fair.  We felt the price for the leave clean-up was high, as the leaves were not removed, only blown to the rear of the property.  We felt this aspect of the work was poor.  Leaves were only removed from a small portion of the property.  Leaves were left under trees and shrubs in many locations.  Leaves piled against the rear of the house, along a fence line, and in our side yard were not touched at all.  Our intent was not to have the leave clean-up done due to the price, however by mistake, Mr. Hand was asked to perform this work.  Upon completion of his work, Mr. Hand asked me to check on his work.  At that time, I was not aware that the leave clean-up was to be provided, so I did not offer any opinion.  The next day, my wife informed me that Mr. Hand had sent an invoice which included $350 for leave clean-up.  After learning of the invoice, I inspected the property more carefully, and found that more than two-thirds of the yard had either no leave removal or very poor quality removal.  I photographed the areas of concern.  It should be noted that Mr. Hand was PAID IN FULL for his services BEFORE I contacted him about my concerns.  I did note that in his Angie's List description, Mr. Hand states that he guarantees his work.  Well, that is not accurate.  We exchanged several voice mail messages wherein I explained my concerns, and asked that Mr. Hand "do the right thing" and return to complete the work.  Mr. Hand responded that he had no intention of returning, and further stated that he "could not be held responsible for byer's remorse".  I was stunned at this response, especially thinking of Mr. Hand's "guaranteed work" statement.  Even though he was paid-in-full, Mr. Hand did not care about customer satisfaction, refused to correct the problem, and displayed a total lack of professionalism.  I would caution anyone thinking of hiring this business for property maintenance to consider other options.  I would certainly suggest that you carefully inspect the work, and make payment subject to complete satisfaction, as they will not return to correct issues once paid.  Finally, although they advertise accepting credit cards for payment, they would not accept that means of payment for their service.

They did a beautiful job. They were prompt, hardworking, and they did whatever I asked them to do without any problem. They really tried to please me, which they did.

I didn't take their bid and I gave the job to someone else. I was a little disappointed because when I told them that I was giving the tree job to someone else but I still would like them to do the landscaping job, they said to forget it and that they didn't want to do the landscaping job. Their price was fair because I had basically the same price from the other contractor. They did respond and came out right away to do the bid. They turned down the job after telling me they would do it so I wouldn't use them in the future.

We called Shannon Hand Tree Service approximately 2 1/2 weeks ago.  They were prompt in arriving to give us a quote to cut down a large tree and grind the stump.  The price they gave us for doing the job was very fair.  They told us they would be back before the end of the week to do the job.  No one arrived or called.  We called them again and they said that they broke their truck and after it was fixed they would come out by the end of that week.  Again, we waited another week and no one arrived or called.  So, we called them again and the gentleman said that he did not have the money to fix his truck to come and do the job.  His remaining trucks were too large to drive up our driveway.  He declined to do the job and gave us a referral for another company.  We understand his dilemma, but thought it would have been professional to at least call and inform us so that we could have contacted another company.
Response from Shannon Hand Tree Service

"We did show up at the end of the week. We did try to do the tree. The member forgot to leave out of his report that we dropped our transmission trying to get a dump truck and chipper up his ridiculously steep driveway. Hmmm We then used a friends chipper truck to get our equipment up the steep driveway. This did not work. 2 attempts to do this project. 3 hours wasted for a 1 hour job. We did call 2 times to notify them of this. I then referred him to a partner tree service that had a new truck that could do the project. He was out there within 2 days of being notified. Another company would have blown you off, I made sure the project got finished. I guess that makes me a bad businessman for making sure your job got done no matter what the situation was. I did not get paid for the 3 hours wasted trying to get up the driveway and the $1800 transmission."

Shannon quoted the job on time and fairly, followed up appropriately, and adjusted willingly to a scope increase at a new cost I proposed. He and his crew showed up as scheduled, were prompt and courteous each of the three days they worked here. They did all I expected and more, and I think the price was more than fair for the significant work involved (for three men, a total of two full days across three calendar days, plus lots of equipment). I am well pleased.
