In the end, the original well installer willingly agreed to testify on my behalf, informing the court that none of the work should have ever ensued. Morris should have known after very simple testing that the problem was electrical and had nothing to do with the pump. Morris grabbed the opportunity to try to make a request for an electrician's name into a very costly disaster for me. Morris intentionally claimed to have "cleaned up after" the original installer's work on several occasions. My sister was living with me at the time and he even went out of his way to explain to her how bad the original installer's work was.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Morris to request the name of an electrician to repair a short that was affecting my well. He didn't want to give me any names, but said he'd come take a look. He informed me that the company that had done the well installation had made a mess of the wiring and had shorted out the pump. He told me he had been cleaning up that well installer's messes all around the area, thoroughly dashing any confidence that I had in them. He rigged the wiring to the pump to get by until he could replace it. He hired a rig to come in to pull the pump up the 320 (+/-) foot shaft, brought in a new pump, and was about to wire it in and drop in down the shaft when the original installer got wind of the project and came by to ask what was wrong and to tell me that if the existing pump had gone bad that he would replace it because it was still under warranty. I stopped everything, took the pump in to be tested and it was perfectly fine. The original installer pointed out to me that the wire Morris was trying to use was an insufficient guage and would cause problems. I asked him to tell Morris directly, which he did. Morris acted like the supply house had given him the wrong wire and made a big scene about having to take it back. The original installer provided the proper wire so the joriginal pump could be dropped back down the shaft. An electrician was hired to come out to locate and fix a short in the wiring. Morris tried to turn what was clearly an electrical problem into a plumbing problem so that he could do the work. He failed to test the pump to learn if it was truly damaged. He used a cheaper wire than what is required to run a pump. He told lies about the original installer to discredit him. He cost me over two weeks of hardship, caring for a barn full of horses in the dead of winter, forcing us to hand haul buckets of water up a hill 100 yards. I informed Mr. Morris that I was not responsible for the $2800 bil that he presented because of his reprehensible behavior. He sued me. We settled on a much lesser amount. I have since learned that he has created several other similar situations.
