The man who did the work did a lot of work for e where I used to live and my insurance company said he ripped me off. He charged me $95 to put a sliding door screen in. My insurance company said it shouldn?t have cost me more than $65. He over charged me for the windows. I?m a widow and I had a lot of work done by this guy where I used to live and I?m beginning to wonder if he took advantage of me over there! He went home and told his wife that I called and said I needed help. He said he would come and help me, but when he did this during an emergency, I felt like I got ripped off and then when I asked him about putting in 7 new windows he was going to charge me $5,000 for the whole project. Well, a siding man who did the original siding where I live came along and did the siding and he said he did windows. He only charged me $2,700! I?m questioning whether he ripped me off on other work he did on my house. He was well respected in the community. He did some work for me right after my husband passed away in 2006; he put siding on my house. On that job, I would give him an A, but on an overall experience I would give him a C-. He took advantage of me. The quality of work was excellent. His responsiveness was excellent. It was just his price that was bad. He was very professional in everything he did. I moved in this house and I have to depend sometimes on a man to help me. He had a helper with him when he was working on my vanity and the kid that was here helping him didn?t have anything to do so I asked him to hang my curtain rods for me, so he did. One of my best friends was here and stood there and watched him and said if you give me the rod I?ll put the valance on. Would you believe he charged me for that? He charged me to put a valance on a rod! I thought that was pretty petty. He?s come to my house for the last time. I wonder if he has done this with other people in the community he lives in. I asked the guy that I had put my new windows in for me to put in a window air conditioner and he didn?t even charge me for that! He won?t get any more work for me! I would not recommend him to anybody because of his prices.
Description of Work: I went through a hailstorm in May. I had to get a new roof and sunroom windows. I called the man who used to work for me to come over and repair the broken windows because I didn’t know when I would be able to get new windows. I had two shredded screens. He told me if I moved and I needed any work done, he would help me. He was coming over to look at my house because I had bought some new bathroom vanities. I bought the vanities myself because I got a 10% and he was going to install them for me, which he did. Then we had this hail storm so he replaced two shredded screens and he went to Lowe’s and just bought plain glass to replace the storm windows in case it rained or anything until I could get the permanent windows in. I have one of the best insurance companies in the United States, according to Consumer Report, and I have a $1,000 deductible and he ate all that up. He charged me around $1,100 but that involved putting in the 2 new bathroom vanities, a new commode. He installed a new shower door and he put a new storm door on. I gave him a check for $1,500 and I had to pay him $1,100 more! Now he paid for the storm door and the shower door but he won’t itemize everything and my insurance company wanted him to itemize everything he did but he wouldn’t do it. He would charge me by the project and I personally feel I was taken advantage of. He wouldn’t itemize it. He won’t get any more work for me!
