Steven came HIGHLY recommended from a friend that had extensive and high end tile work done. We had a total of 3 estimates from other companies, and Steven's price was the best. From research, it seemed as though Steven does more unique and independent tile work rather than routine, run of the mill projects. We decided to ask him for an estimate anyway since he was recommended even though our request was pretty ‘routine’ to say the least. We have a 1950's bathroom, with original tile. The tile around the shower hardware was cracked and leaky. We asked Steven to give an estimate to pull out the leaky tile, replace the back board, and re-tile. After a few days, he responded to my inquiry for an estimate (he was out of town). It took about 10 days for him to get back to me to set up a date and time for the estimate. He came to our home and surveyed the area on 9/16. He met with my husband, and was very through and professional. An estimate was given around 9/27 for $900. The price and terms were agreed upon. Despite multiple emails, we didn't hear back from him until 10/18, at which time he stated work could probably begin October 28. I had to email him on the 27th to see if work would begin the next day. He states he was still working on a project, and would get to us by the middle of the following week (11/4). I emailed him on 11/4 with no response, and again on 11/10 asking if he was still doing our job. He replied on the 11th, saying he would begin work on 11/16. Work did begin on 11/16. Work was not fully completed until 11/26. However, finishing quickly was not a priority for us – but the lack of communication was a pain. At that time, Steven emailed me saying he took the liberty to re-grout the entire shower area, as it was time to rejuvenate. We did not speak about this prior. At the end of the job, the final bill was $900 and something. Very close to the estimate. He said he decided not to charge for rerouting the shower (which wasn't discussed anyway!). The quality of work was outstanding. I have no doubt of shower will give us many, many more years of use from Steven's work. However, I was slightly disappointed with the 'mess' when Steven left. And yes, I did expect dust, some splatter, etc. I am certainly not a clean freak and know what comes with the job! However, there were white marks on all the light switch covers that he used, white splatter marks all over the bathroom sink cabinet, and on the door handles. He set up a wet saw on our front porch, and unreeled our hose to use. The hose was not reeled back up, and there are now white splatters all over the beige foundation of the porch. I was also a little taken back that he told us he would not charge for the regrout of the bathroom, as a wedding present (we just got married). I would have absolutely agreed and paid for him to do this service if he discussed it with us (it WAS time to rejuvenate!), but he told us he did this after the fact. He also cleaned our old, ceramic tub for us, which was a nice treat! Steven is an extremely nice person, and fully trustworthy. His great workmanship is the reason I would use him again and recommend him. I’m not sure if the communication was lacking due to the ‘boring’ job we had – but the process from start to finish was MUCH longer than anticipated. Our bathroom looks brand new and no longer leaks - and at the end of the day, that is what we asked for!

Steve reviewed the job in advance, and made practical recommendations for restoring our bathroom (with ceramic tile in shower and marble tile on floor and walls. Grout (from the 50's) was cracked, some missing, some very dirty with age. Shower has 2-in tiles with very tight seams, which made impossible the use of any power tools for the grout removal. Steve removed all grout by hand, color-matched the new grout and pointed out a couple other cost-effective ways to improve other problem areas I had not originally intended to bother with. Great results, great value and quick turnaround time. He does other tile-work, too, and will be an excellent future resource for us.
