BUT, I canceled service because of a breakage incident that they handled poorly. One of the workers broke a clip used for removing windows, mistaking it for the lever used to open the window. Fine, no big deal, and it probably wasn't worth fixing so I was expecting to not push them much. What I got instead was a flat-out denial they were responsible even though it was broken because a worker used it when they didn't have to (she cited the and quot;wear and tearand quot; clause in the contract). They offered me a credit, about how much I should have taken, but I didn't like the fact that their initial response was to deny responsibility and then offer a credit to make it seem like they were being nice when they didn't have to. I called the owner out on it and said that remedy aside, I wasn't happy that the default position was to deny responsibility because what happens if they were to break something major?
The owner finally started to ask questions but only after I was on the defensive and didn't back down. By the time she got around to doing the right thing, it was too late. I felt like I'd seen how the company operates when something is damaged and needs repair. This was a case where Merry Maids clearly messed up and I still had to fight, and I figured no way I was going to continue to take a chance they'd do the right thing if they damaged something major.
So all in all, they do an OK job but I think you're gambling that they won't break anything. I'm OK with the workers, not so much with the management.
