Shopped online at the big box stores and at Lehigh Supply. Went with Lehigh Supply because of it being a local business and their customer service.

Great, couldn't have been better.

The technician arrived before scheduled, so he gets an A+ for punctuality. He worked very rapidly, so we didn't need to empty the freezer or refrigerator to keep the food cold. He quickly found and repaired two problems, one that had led to the buildup of ice and a second one that he diagnosed from our description of what happened when we melted the ice. Our second experience with this very experienced technician, we are again pleased.

We made an appointment for 2 days out. The technician, Mark, called 15 minutes before arrival and came exactly as promised. It took about an hour, but he found the problem and fixed it. A part that screens out trash from going out through a hose to the garbage disposal was actually MISSING (who knows how and when that happened) and the hose was completely clogged. We were expecting to be told that the pump had failed and were resigned to having to buy a new dishwasher, but instead we have a functioning dishwasher again. This company sells appliances too, so they could have conned us into buying a new one, but instead they were completely honest. If we have trouble with other appliances, we know who we will call.

The sales experience was very comfortable. The prices for the high-end double oven and induction cooktop were fair and in line with the competition, including big box stores. Installation was priced fairly for the amount of effort involved - two trained people for over four hours. The installation was challenging, including enlarging an opening in a brick-faced wall; rebuilding the support for the oven; and installing an electric circuit with higher capacity. None of this would have been handled routinely, much less for free, by a big box store. The end result was is all we could have hoped for. The cost quoted is for the installation. We appreciate that the installation cost was broken out separately from the appliance cost.

When I called and explained that our dryer would start heating up, then go cold and stay that way, I was told it was most likely the igniter. They said they would order one and scheduled a service appointment for the following week. When the service tech arrived he said the igniter was ok and the problem was the timer.  It would take a week to order the timer and a service appointment was scheduled for the following week.  When he showed up with the timer a week later, he finally opened up the dryer, replaced the timer, and then noticed that a circuit board was burned.  He now said it probably wasn't the timer and was the circuit board and it would take a week to order..  He told me he would hang on to the old timer and put it back when he installed the new circuit board so I didn't have to pay for any unneeded parts.  Someone called him before he left and they scheduled the service appointment to replace the circuit board for two days later.  
He arrived two days later to put back my old timer and a new circuit board. But he had a different truck and didn't have my old timer. He did have the new circuit board.  He installed it and declared the dryer fixed. He told me to set up another appointment so he could swap the new timer for my old one.  I was then presented with a bill for $275.
We were going to a wedding within a couple hours of the repair so we didn't get a chance to use the dryer till the next day.  After $275 and a couple weeks of screwing around, it did the same thing it did in the first place.
We are now heading out to Sears to buy a new dryer. By dealing with Lehigh Supply I've added $275 to my replacement cost.

UPDATE: 9/8/15   The owner came today and removed the new parts that were installed but didn't fix the problem..  He gave me a refund check for the $275 I had paid...  He did say that he was pretty sure what the problem actually was...  Wish he would have been there weeks ago...

Due to the long delays and mounting piles of dirty wash, we purchased a new dryer from Sears... 

I upgraded the professionalism score to A..  This isn't to reflect the serviceman's multiple attempts to find the dryer's problem (unsuccessfully), but to reflect the owner's taking responsibility of the situation and providing a refund.
