We specialize in re-designing spaces that are difficult to work or live in; plans on CAD are budgeted with your contractor or we will recommend one for you with exact selections to reduce change order upcharges. Every contractor bidding will have the same information, finish selections for the project are completed in our Schematic Design Phase for budgeting.

I read the update written by the Brownstone. Biggest issue we had was that we bought less than $20,000 in furniture and paid almost half that amount in fees. Ridiculous. Brownstone was obscure and willfully vague in order to bilk more fees. This does not include the numerous bad decisions, careless mistakes, and errors that cost money. The list is not limited to but includes: $6000 couch that would not fit down the stairs that they supposedly measured for, wrong paint color which required significant re-painting, wrong lighting, constant delays in ordering, having to repeatedly ask for the same thing over and over, and general incompetency. None of which we were re-reimbursed for. There was confusion - most of which was caused by Brownstone. I find most of the assertions to be patently false.
Let me be clear about something. WE NEVER GOT A DESIGN!!!! We got 3/4 half baked sketches that my 3-year old could do but that is about it. NOTHING about this experience was professional. This firm is stuck in yesteryear and desperately trying to figure out a way to stay relevant.
As far as handling the mistakes professionally and my budget - we completed the job with the help of a New York based designer that traveled to our house. At the end of the day we completed the project in a timely manner, more efficiently and with no confusion. We never had any issue on budget or billing with this person. This is what happens when there is transparency and ethical conduct.
"Communication is the first and most important aspect of understanding a client. This client did not understand his design proposal. Throughout the project he kept interfering in the decision making process he left for his wife which forced additional time to be spent on re-selections. Extra time spent on re-working selections extended the length of the project. Design projects can be difficult on both the client and the designer, if you are upfront with your budget and information your Designer will be your best friend, will save you a tremendous amount of time, avoid mistakes and stay in budget. No one wants mistakes to happen but if they do a true professional will do their best to quickly help correct it even if it was another vendors error. Understanding the role of the designer you hire is important to the success of the project."
