ALTRONICS SECURITY SYSTEMS

I contacted a number of alarm companies, some of whom never returned calls and some of whom gave me what I thought were very high estimates to upgrade our modest home's outdated security system. I called this company on the recommendation of one of their customers. I was visited by an Altronics representative who first reviewed the existing alarm system and then described in detail what work needed to be done. I received a very reasonable estimate for the amount of material and labor that was required and agreed to a December 12 installation date. Two installers arrived at the agreed upon date and time and proved to be very professional in their approach to the job and very courteous in their demeanor.  They worked quickly, quietly and had the system up and running within the day. They then gave my wife and I a thorough review of the new system.

The work turned out very well. He was prompt, the price was right, did a thorough job, and was friendly. I would use them again if needed.

My alarm system stopped working after only about 20 months. When I requested service I was informed that a service call was $45, and the labor charge was an additional $100/hour! When I balked at paying such a ridiculous price I was informed that I had agreed to a 5 year contract. I had never been told by the salesman that I was signing a 5 year contract. What's worse, I found out that if you don't cancel in writing 60 days before your contract expires, they automatically extend your contract another 3 years! Who remembers to do that after 5 years??!! We contacted the service tech to see if we could get out of our contract since our system no longer works, and he copped an attitude and hung up on us. The general manager then refused to let us out of our contract. So now we are stuck paying over $300/year for the next 3+ years for a system that failed in a little over a year and a half. Horrible service, and way too expensive. This is one of those family run type of businesses that made it big years ago and now cares very little about its customers.
