appreciated the amount of communication from the company, and the installers
The consultant @ Home Depot was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous.
The personnel @ Continental were the opposite with the exception of the first Continental employee who measured our cabinets . The scheduler refused to accommodate our schedule, totally inflexible to the point where my wife had to take 2 days off work to accommodate them!
The first time our countertops were measured the problem was on my end because my cabinets were unlevel- my fault. Continental charged me $150.00 to remeasure my cabinets, wasn't happy about this considering I was already paying $4,200- strike one. Continental didn't return for 3 weeks with them telling us what day they would come- strike 2.
When the countertops were ready Continental told us what day the install would be instead of accommodating our schedule. The countertops were cut so badly it was laughable. The cutout for our undermount sink was too small, saw marks in the quartz, side splash, back splash, and a shelf cut incorrectly. At this point I'm ready to blow my stack. Too add to the debacle, I had hired a plumber to install everything to do with the sink that evening. so now i had to call him and explain he was out of $300.00 because I didn't need him. Needless to say, the plumber was p***** because he turned down another job to accomplish mine.
I called a supervisor at Continental telling him that since they totally screwed up the countertops causing another delay and another day off work I wanted the $150.00 they charged me to come back to measure my cabinets refunded, and I also wanted the $300.00 the plumber wanted for the no show I had to pay refunded as well. The supervisor told me it should be no problem, that he would get back to me.
The Continental Surfaces supervisor later called and left a message telling me the plumber was my problem, and he now wasn't sure about the $150.00. Add this to the fact they weren't even sure when they would have the countertops completed- strike 3 Continental is out!
I called Home Depot and explained the situation along with my complete distrust of Continental Surfaces. I asked for a total refund of the job. To Home Depots Credit they apologized, offered to have another company perform the work, and the store manger also offered to compensate me for the horrible way Continental Surfaces treated me and my wife. I refused and Home Depot fully refunded me with no strings attached.
This blistering review is in no way a reflection on Home Depot. Home Depot was concerned and professional and they will continue to get my business. Continental Surfaces on the other hand was one of the worst businesses I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with in my entire life.
After emailing twice and getting no response, I phoned asking that the correct cabinet be shipped two day shipping so that installer would not be delayed. The manager, Erica, informed me that I would need to send a picture before anything would be done. I offered to pay for the new cabinet being sent out and we would straighten everything out afterward. She said she could not do that and she was not interested in receiving the incorrect cabinet back, "just throw it out". I phoned back asking if I could text the picture as I have no email capabilities on my phone, but you guessed it. NO texting received, we can't do anything without a picture. Then I asked for it to be taken off my bill and I would not reorder. NO again, you must call a Home Depot store. I called Home Depot, talked to the cabinet department, front desk and manager. Manager said she would handle and I texted her the picture of the incorrect item. There is now a discount on the items I had ordered, which would save me over $300. I asked that the discount be applied. Store manager called The Home Decorator Collection to discuss and request a discount (remember, The Home Decorator Collection personnel could not assist me telling me to go directly to a Home Depot store). Manager phone back stating that new cabinet will ship tomorrow (my contractor is arriving tomorrow which means an additional cost to ME to have contractor return and finish job when cabinet arrives).
In the past two weeks I have spent over $5,000 cash at Home Depot and I will NOT be coming back.as to sink, edges, etc. Was told we would be contacted when the tops were ready and set up installation date. The date
was set up and they arrive promply at time they indicated and installed the granite time in about 2 hours. They checked with
me couple of times to insure the placement of faucets etc. was correct before doing the final installaiton. When they left the place
clean and we were instructed how to care for the tops etc. Before leaving they called the main office and had a person talk
to me and make sure everything was as we ordered and that we were satisfied with the job. The 3 man team was very
professional and interested in making sure the job was done right. For you info the name of the company doing the
installation for Home Depot was Continental Services.
Tri-State came to my home & took measurements on May 22nd. Signed contract. Took Deposit. Said usual lag time from contract to installation was approximately 2 weeks.
On Wednesday, June 5th, I contacted Joe at Tri-State to find the status of the doors. Joe never answers his phone. Joe returned my call the next day morning (June 6th) at 9:00 AM. Said his dog ate his homework, so to speak, and he had forgotten to call me. He said he lost the measurements and needed to send someone out to re-measure. Said the guy would be here by 1:00 PM. I informed him that I had to leave by 3:00 PM. He said "NO PROBLEM."
At 1:45 no one had arrived and I called Joe (he didn't answer) and left a message. He called back at 2:30 and said "his guy" would be here in the next 15 to 20 minutes. I reminded him that I needed to leave by absolutely NO LATER than 3:00 PM. He said "NO PROBLEM." No one showed or called. I left.
