Carpet Installation

Very Badly. The workmen did not take proper care of my property and left behind two damaged interior doors, permanent staining on carpeting, use materials that shut down my brand new hot water tank that required an emergency plumber visit. Brace, before the work began, agreed to coordinate with my plumbrr to reseat two toilets but did not follow through. When the plumber came he had to spend extra time because the floorman covered the toilet flange with flooring. Brace refused to accept my phone calls or emails and I was served with a lawsuit because I wanted a small amount of money to help cover my extra costs that they caused.. This company does not know the meaning of customer care.

Our experience working with Brace Flooring was extremely bad.  To start, the builder warned us before we even went to select our flooring that Brace Flooring was very difficult to work with.  Then we experienced this first-hand over the next 2 years after closing on our house.   We had issues with 2 of the 3 types of material used, the vinyl plank flooring that covers more than 50% of our first floor and the ceramic tile in our bathroom, the most expensive material per square foot.   The vinyl plank flooring began to gap shortly after we moved in to our house.  Brace Flooring insisted that it was a defect in manufacturing and not an installation issue.  A defect in manufacturing means that Brace would not be responsible for the cost to replace our flooring.  However, when an independent inspector was sent by the manufacturer he ruled that there was not a defect in manufacturing, that it was an installation issue.  This was documented in writing from the manufacturer.  Almost nine months after moving in to our house we were contacted by Brace Flooring stating that the decision had been changed without any further explanation or documentation, and that the manufacturer is now taking responsibility for the cost to replace the floor.  By this time we had taken about two weeks off of work in total for numerous appointments, including some where the worker from Brace Flooring did not show up or even call to cancel/reschedule.  And worst of all, in this nine month period, Brace Flooring did not inform us that our style/color of flooring had been discontinued by the manufacturer.  After find this out as well as the issues with the ceramic tile in our master bathroom we decided to attempt to get a portion of the amount we paid refunded.  They would only pay the cost that the manufacturer set as the replacement cost, which was about half of what we originally paid for this portion of our flooring.   We were at our house the during the building process when the installer of the ceramic tile was working on our master bathroom.  When he left we went to look at the floor and noticed that withing minutes of him finishing the job that he had installed 3 tiles that had corners chipped off the tile.  Again, after numerous visits from Brace Flooring we finally were approved to have the cracked tiles replaced.  When the installer replaced the tile we noticed that the grout was a different color than the rest of the tile.  However, he didn't put the wrong color grout in the 3 tiles that were replaced, he put the correct color in and the original installer had actually put in the wrong color.  Again, after many calls and visits, Brace admitted that they had originally put in the wrong color grout.  They had to scrape out all of the grout in our master bath and replace it with the correct color.  After this type of workmanship and being treated very poorly we decided that we were not willing to allow Brace Flooring to come back into our house and replace more than half of the flooring on our first floor.  Brace Flooring had contacted their lawyers and basically forced us to settle on 50% of the cost of our flooring after having done such a poor work in our house and treating us with some of the worst customer service you can imagine.  We had no leverage because we had already paid all of the money for our flooring, which was included in the cost of the house.  Therefore, we were left to settle at their amount and be unsatisfied.   We have since advised others using our builder to have Brace Flooring install only the basic flooring that is included in the price of the house and to later have it replaced by a reputable company that you can choose yourself.  I doubt it will cost more because Brace Flooring's prices were not very good, but even if it cost more money you'll be sure that it will be worth spending a little extra money to know you cannot get worse workmanship and treated more poorly as customers.
