I would encourage you to look at my review from two years ago on Google. The quality of work conducted and the level of professionalism was extremely poor. The owner is a snake oil salesman with no morality and no concept of doing the right thing. He has said that I refuse to pay which is an out and outright lie. On a job that was over $200,000 I refuse to pay the last $7,000 until he made good on many deficiencies. Rather than do the right thing he never showed up. He only became irate when he saw a poor review on Google. So why do I now put another review up? I do so because much of what he and his company did is now falling apart. The electrical work has been so faulty that much of it had to be redone. The heaters he installed have largely failed or not worked. Many of the lights installed have also failed. I have had to have contractors come and redo much of what they failed to do or did but incorrectly. Lastly, the roof installed was so substandard and has cost me as I have had to have other contractors come and fix their substandard work. I could go on and on but this company is truly lacking of moral clarity and Leadership. I highly recommend staying far away from this company. One of the biggest mistakes I have made is having affordable decks and additions do work at my home. Just the other day I was reminded how bad the work they did as I was having the gutters cleaned. As it turns out amongst the other things they did wrong they did not tie the deck roof to the house roof on properly and in fact just left the Roofing paper exposed. As a result money will need to be spent on fixing the roof and water damage. As a side note, all this company did was issubcontract work out to the lowest bidder.

Our experience with Affordable Decks & Additions has been horrible. They renovated our existing deck and within a year it was sinking. They utilized the existing substructure without properly repairing or replacing it. They built a retaining wall that improperly sits on the deck surface, when their own drawings and plans called for the wall to be built outside the deck area. They sold us decking material that is now discontinued. Efforts to get them to fix their shoddy, negligent work have been met with silence. Phone calls go unanswered. Emails go unanswered. In fact, it is impossible to even leave a phone message for the owner, Jeff Valperga, because his voice mailbox hasn’t been set up. Unbelievable. We have no choice other than to pursue legal action. Do not use this company.

He came out and replaced my deck surface with composite material but failed to tell me about the failing sub-structure. Now, several months after the job, my deck is sinking and collapsing in on the back side. After one call with Jeff to explain the situation and ask him to collaborate on a solution - he has ghosted me, he won’t answer or return my calls / written communication!

Jeff Valperga the owner of Affordable Decks does not guarantee or repair their shoddy work. Very disappointed. They did not repair the substructure before putting installing very expensive AZEK® Advanced PVC Timber Teck Deck boards. We cannot walk on this area of the deck without falling in. In addition, his company also did a stone wall that is already collapsing (after two years). Countless calls and letters over the last two years have only been met with silence. Run . . . do not walk away from this company!

I recently had our second deck built by Affordable Decks, and while the quality of the deck itself is decent, I cannot overlook the abysmal customer service and overall lack of accountability from the company. First and foremost, getting in touch with anyone at Affordable Decks, be it the office workers or the owner, was an exercise in frustration. It often felt like I was dealing with a ghost company. Calls and emails went unanswered for days, making it incredibly difficult to get updates on my project or address any concerns. The lack of communication was appalling and left me feeling completely ignored. We were told the deck would be completed by July 4th weekend, and it was NOT! They did not finish it until a month later. We asked multiple times for the owner Jeff to call or visit us, and he ignored us every time. When I did finally manage to get a response, there was a distinct lack of responsibility-taking on their part. Any issues or mistakes that arose during the project were met with excuses and deflection. It was clear that they were unwilling to acknowledge their errors or make any effort to rectify them. This lack of accountability left me feeling unheard and undervalued as a customer. We have spent almost $40,000 with them and the owner couldn’t even take the time to call us. A simple phone call could have rectified this situation. Furthermore, the project timeline was extended beyond the initially promised completion date without any explanation or apology. This not only inconvenienced us, but also added unnecessary stress to an already frustrating experience. While the quality of the deck itself may meet basic standards, the deplorable customer service and lack of accountability at Affordable Decks overshadow any positive aspects of the project. I would caution anyone considering their services to think twice and be prepared for a frustrating and disappointing customer experience.

The design was good, the work was performed professionally, and we were happy with the result. Fast forward a few years and the Azek decking began to fall off because they did not use the correct fasteners (not stainless and insufficient depth). Also the shed door they used is falling apart. I tried for two years to pay them to come repair and they failed to respond. Look elsewhere for your deck solution.

We researched several different companies before choosing Affordable Decks. It seems every contractor gets mixed reviews and everyone has a different experience but I wanted to share our experience. We are very particular about having work done and we knew this would be costly. Jeff (owner) met with us and recommended how it should be done. We received an estimate with the drawing and it was timely. Their estimate was more expensive than the other contractors but we believe it was worth the extra money. We waited a couple months due to getting a building permit and weather but well worth the wait. They did excellent work. Our crew consisted of Frank and Ken. They were experienced, polite, and very hard workers. We have done a lot of projects over the years and we both agreed that they are the best craftsmen we have ever had. Jeff came by regularly to check on the project and make sure we were satisfied. I rarely write reviews or recommendations but this is the best enhancement we have made to our home. Our enclosure actually exceeded our expectations.

Jeff provided great design ideas. Better than I could imagine. 3 week’s later and we have the deck of our dreams. Affordable Decks was also the most value for what we paid. We would definitely use again.

This is a franchise (Washington County) of the main Bethel Park franchisor. This company has been sued by three families in our small neighborhood. Before you work with them ask about the lawsuits they have had and why. All three of us won because this company failed to deliver what it promised. Under the threat of a Cease and Desist letter I was finally paid. Buyer Beware because these contractors are very questionable characters and so-called professionals.

It started out very well. Jeff is a pro salesman. He comes out with all the bells and whistles. Even creates a rendering on his iPad and airdrops it to you. Very sleek. His crew showed up and started digging and framing on a Wed. I explained that we had a b birthday party scheduled for that Saturday so if they could limit the mess, it would be appreciated. They left Friday with a huge scrap pile full of sharp objects in the yard. No response from the team all weekend and it ended up siting for the duration of the job. (Chalked it up as bad planning on my part) The code inspector came out to inspect the footer holes before concrete could be installed. I happened to be home so I went down to talk with him. He said "the holes are deep enough, just make sure they get all the water out". It had been raining alot. The next day I got home and the footers were already poured and construction had escalated. The deck looked great so I was very excited. When the job was all but finished, I began digging in mulch beds around the deck posts. During this time the inspector showed up for a final inspection. When he was doing this, I showed him that an abundance of water was coming out of one of the footer holes. He expressed concern and said he knew the owner and would call him to make sure that everything was up to code. This is when I lost all faith in this company. Jeff unloaded on me via text message. Accusing me of going behind his back and calling the code inspector. (Which I did not do) The texts were so frequent, unprofessional and concerning to the point that I asked him to stop all work and called an attorney. (They still had a gate to install and a handrail) His wife ended up taking over the communication and we were able to finish the job. That being said, the gate was never installed and I never received a signed warranty even though I had asked for it numerous times. I had warnings about this company from people in the area and I didn't listen, Truth be told the deck looks great and the crew did a good job, I just do not think I would work with this company again or refer them to anyone else. Every time I am on the deck, I have concerns over that footer. Hopefully there is never an issue, but doubt still exists. In my opinion, Jeff is a salesman and will not be at the job for one minute of construction.

Everything started out well then when it came time for final payment, I found out that our builder never completed a Final Inspection by North Strabane Twp. Furthermore they never requested a framing inspection for our new deck roof. There were at least half a dozen serious issues to fix. It has been nearly 2 months since our builder met on-site with all 3 code inspectors and we still have yet to have any follow-up work or communication by the builder. Affordable Decks and Additions is unprofessional and unresponsive and buyers should use extreme caution!

On the last day of construction, the employee working on the roof showed up after lunch hungover. He had to finish a full days work within a half day. As a result he took many shortcuts which created a massive problem that allowed water to run into my chimney and fireplace. Jeff walked away from this problem saying it was not their error. However, it was found from another contractor that I had to hire to fix the problem, that no ice or water shield was installed under the shingles nor was the roof properly sealed around the chimney. This allowed water to enter into my chimney and run down my fireplace door for close to a year. I kept calling Jeff to address the problem. He worked to solve the problem at first by sealing one corner of the roof where it was found water was entering into my chimney where it attached to the side of the chimney but quickly claimed the problem was not his despite finding a error in that area already. I finally hired another contractor to find and fix the problem and he discovered that the wood under the shingles that connected to the chimney was wet and he found there was no ice and water guard put under the shingles which I was told would be used and was charged for. I've sent Jeff an email about the finding and requested reimbursement for other expenses incurred while trying to find the problem and I've not heard anything from Jeff. DO NOT USE AFFORDABLE DECK. They are crooks and they walk away from their own mistakes. A complain will be filed with the BBB and the consumer attorney general.

Mixed reviews. Jeff came out with a great plan for the construction. What I learned as construction was taking place, the original plan had to be revised because of miscalculations. This included the design for the steps and Jeff added about a foot to the length of the deck to build it around an existing chimney. As a result of this, the roof line was 'cut' into the aluminum siding of the chimney. I was not made aware that part of the aluminum siding would be cut away from the chimney and if I had known, I would not have approved that. I had 2 different teams working on the project. The first team constructed the deck part of the project. As the old deck was torn down, the material was taken to the front of the house along the public sidewalk. I didn't have a problem with this but the housing development's environmental planning committee did have an issue with all the old lumber stacked in a rather large pile for several days. The team was a bit careless and tore holes in 3 screens (1 of which was a new screen and was repaired by Affordable Deck at their expense) and marked up the aluminum siding in a few areas. As I talked with the foreman, he told me they were sub-contractors (his exact words) of Affordable Deck and Jeff told me they did not use sub-contractors. The second team did the roof over the deck. For the most part, I think the team did an excellent job but once again, the aluminum framing around a window was badly scratched. The windows were newly installed 1.5 years before the deck project and were free of any damage. On the last day of construction, the roof needed to be completed and the employee who was doing the work didn't show up until after lunch. I heard the other workers talking how this employee was out drinking the night before and was so drunk he had to walk home -- straight from the mouths of the workers. He finally showed up in the afternoon to complete the work. When I said something to Jeff about this, his comment was "they work hard and play hard". Since then, I've had to have Affordable Deck return 3 times to fix the gutter (Dave finally came in the last time and fixed it correctly). Where the mixed review comes in is that since the deck project, I started to get water in my fireplace during rain storms. Where the roof was cut into the aluminum siding of the fireplace was not finished very well initially. I could see gaps between the roof and the chimney. Dave sent out an employee, Scott, to check on that corner several times but I would always get water coming into the fireplace but it was occurring fewer times with each repair. Finally Scott did a water test and found water was leaking in that area because he saw water running along the side of the house under the chimney base. Scott said "I found it, it's our fault". I was just happy to finally get the problem resolved. Scott return to fix that corner and I thought he did a good job. But once afterward (approximately 2 months later) I again got water in my fireplace. I called Affordable Deck and spoke with Jeff. He told me it can't possibly be coming from that corner and that I probably had the water leak for years (apparently 24 years to be exact) and never noticed it. He said I'm noticing it now because I'm looking for a leak. Seriously??????? Then why has the amount of water coming into my fireplace been less in quantity and less frequently with each repair? I've had the chase cover replaced on the top of my chimney and I've had three chimney companies inspect my chimney and found no issues with the chimney itself. I also had a restoration company come in to see if they could determine if the problem was with the roof or the deck and they said with the design of the roof around the chimney, water was not coming in since it is being diverted away from the chimney itself. I've decided to hire another company to come in and start ripping work apart, one area at a time, to determine if the leak will now stop completely. Despite Jeff's evaluation of the situation, I know I never had water coming into my fireplace before construction and I need to get it fixed. Jeff had asked during construction if he could send to my house another possible client to look at the work completed at that point and I agreed. Jeff got the contract because of that visit. I don't know where the leak is coming from but Jeff's comment that I've always had it and I'm just noticing it because I'm looking for a leak is very demeaning. Trying to find the source of the leak has been very frustrating for me and I don't like the comment Jeff made. For this reason, I would not recommend Affordable Deck.

Jeff came to give a bid, he was very informative and wanted to be sure we were knowledgeable of what different options were for decking material and suggested color themes that may work better for our purposes.  He promptly sent us a graphic depiction of what the finished job would look like. Pricing was in the ball park we expected based on another bid for same job.  The deciding factor was not as much price but rather his understanding of what needed to be done and reasons for such to result in a well built stable deck. It was apparent that he has done a lot of decks and was very familiar with the pvc decking , AZEK, we were interested in, which does have some unique installation requirements vs non pvc decking.  His work crew showed up early in the mornings and worked hard despite some inclement weather and finished the job a day ahead of schedule.  They cleaned up the site very nicely and finished deck looks wonderful.

Affordable Decks and Additions (AD&A) recently completed a total renovation of our backyard deck.
Our prior deck was built with the home in the late 1980?s and while nice when designed,
was simplistic and unfortunately was not under-roof.
My wife and I solicited designs and bids from three of the top deck builders in the Pittsburgh area.
Only Jeff at AD&A was able to provide a roof design. The other two deck builders felt that our existing roof lines
made a covered deck an impossibility.
We worked with Jeff over a period of a few days to agree on an acceptable roof design.
At each step along the way Jeff would  e-mail us a color drawing of the design
as it would look finished and part of our house. After agreeing to the design
and cost, Jeff provided us an estimated start date. Within a several days of the start date,
supplies and craftsman were busy at work constructing our new roof and deck.
The crew was led by a carpenter who was with our project from start to finish.
Over the course of the project he would enlist other tradesman from AD&A whose specific skills were required.
Everyone involved in the project, from the delivery driver, to the carpentry and roofing teams to the electrician
was an employee of AD&A. This continuity resulted in a fluid build and a timely finish.
Every employee of AD&A was polite, respectful and dedicated to building a deck that they could be proud of.
Jeff made frequent appearances at our project along the way to ensure his quality standards were being met.
The end result is a deck and roof that we never thought was possible, absolutely stunning.
We are extremely pleased we chose AD&A and highly recommend them.
