Internet Service
I had a installation appointment window from 8:00A.M to 11:00A.M the installer didn't arrive until 11:30A.M. So he was already 30 minutes late with no apology. Then he did not bring any of the right equipment. All I needed was the proper modem that worked both the phone and internet together but he brought one just for the internet. Strike two. Also I was to have a DVR and was given a regular hd-converter box. At least I could still watch the shows I wanted. Unfortunately I could not record any. Then the installer broke one of my picture frames that he knocked off of the wall. After a hour and a half I was finally able to my computer and watch tv. Still no telephone but, I considered myself lucky. On top of everything else I was still expected to pay $308.85 for everything. I ended up going with DISH NETWORK.

Internet Service, TV Service - Cable
I had my service disconnected while working out of town. Upon my return, I discovered Metrocast required a $150.00 reconnect fee and a house visit. All that is really necessary is a tech to reconnect the cable at the pole. For this they charge $150.00. I was also told that if I placed my Cable on Vacation for $5.00 per month, there would be no reconnect fee. The vacation term is up to over 3 to12 months. So if I pay them $5.00 a month when I work out of town for less than 12 months, I can save from $90 to $135.00. If I am gone for over 12 months, I get the full $150.00 reconnect fee. In either case, they still send someone out to disconnect the service at the pole necessitation another someone to come out to the house and reconnect the service at the pole upon my return.
What a waste.
Now they are also forcing digital TV requiring a rented cable box on me. This disservice lays to waste the features of my Sony XBR TV which was designed to work with all the channels available as well as the Windows Media Center in my computer that I use to record TV programs when I am not home or watching another program on TV. The digital cable box has only one channel of TV output. If I want to record two programs, one at 7:00 PM on channel 49 and another at 10:00 PM on channel 44 I cannot. I would have to come home and change the channel on their digital cable box or I would be on the wrong channel.
Isn't technology grand? I think I'll just buy out a closing blockbuster store and watch movies for the rest of my life!
Metrocast does not offer a double play for TV & Internet as do most other service providers. Comcast offers a double play for $69.00 per month. I am stuck with paying Metrocast $117.99 per month for the same level of service. Metrocast also does not often offer connection promotions where some cable TV services like a premium channel or or two or three are offered at the introductory rate for 3 months to a year as do most other service providers.
All in all, I find Metrocast to cost more and offer less that any of their competetors I have done business with anywhere in the USA and Canada.

TV Service - Cable
We called Metrocast three days before our move, and they were able to fit us in on April 2nd, the day after we'd move in. We accepted that appointment, they ran my husband's credit, and everything was set up. They told us that their serviceman would show up between 9-1 that day. My husband had to go to work at noon that day, so I dropped him off and returned home to wait. By 12:30, there was still no serviceman. I called Metrocast, who told me that he'd be arriving soon. Sure enough, he called two minutes later and asked for my husband. I told him that my husband was at work and the serviceman asked if he'd be returning soon. When he found out that my husband worked until 8 PM, he got hesitant. It turns out that Metrocast has a company policy that the installation can't be done unless the primary account holder is there. Even though I'm his wife and my name was also on the account, they wouldn't allow their serviceman to do it because it was my husband's credit! I was floored, but my husband called and made an appointment for the following Wednesday. He had off that day. The man showed up and the installation went as planned. However, the next day, our BRAND NEW cable box had stopped working. There was no way to change the channel or do anything at all with it. When we called for a service appointment, we were forced to wait another week. They said they could not squeeze us in earlier and that we'd have to wait to have our box fixed. This was less than 24 hours after it was installed! The terrible customer service had me absolutely floored. If we lived in a building where we were allowed to get DirecTV, I absolutely would've. I will never again use Metrocast.
