The crew did show up ~9:45 a.m. and came in with cleaning supplies and a vacuum, but no steam cleaning equipment. When I questioned this, I was told that they didn't do this work, at which point I said that this was counter to what Kathy had advised and that to which I agreed prior to making my purchase. I insisted that they call Kathy and, after a short conversation, I asked to speak to her. Kathy first said that floor steam cleaning is not part of a Groupon deal, that it is $150 and is normally done in the spring. After several minutes of discussed, Kathy conceded that she did now recall our conversations about this work and that she had, in fact, agreed that this would be done as part of my deal. We then arranged that the crew that was there would do the other part of the cleaning and that Kathy and I would schedule another time for the floor steam cleaning (yet another inconvenience to me, as well as a major disappointment).
I specified to the 2 cleaners that all that was to be done was deep cleaning of exterior surfaces and floors in the kitchen and primary bathroom on the first floor and, if time allowed, to also clean the secondary bathroom on the second floor (+ toilet bowls).
"Cleaner #1" went upstairs and began vacuuming in one of the bedrooms, although I have no idea why this was being done. At some point, she moved to the secondary bathroom; when I walked upstairs, she was scrubbing the toilet bowl. Several times, I reminded her that she needed to allow time to clean the primary bathroom and she assured me that she was allowing sufficient time. At one point, in order to ensure that time did not run out, I told her that she could skip washing the secondary bathroom floor, but that I needed the primary bathroom floor washed. When she got to the primary bathroom, I told her that she could skip cleaning the tub itself.
"Cleaner #2" worked solely in the kitchen. At one point when I checked, she was cleaning one section of the counter. At another time, she was washing the floor, but not moving any furniture, so I picked up the kitchen chairs and took them into the living room so that she could access those areas of the floor.
After they left, I discovered that "Cleaner #1" had cleaned the inside of the microwave (not on my list of what I wanted done and, while a bonus, was something that I could easily have done) and that she had not washed entire sections of floor below and behind the table. When I looked further, I saw that the areas of the floor that had been washed were not washed well and I then washed/scrubbed the entire kitchen floor myself. I then saw that various sections of the countertops were missed entirely, and not cleaned at all were the back (vertical) part of the stove (very greasy), the front part of the stove with the dials (very greasy), the oven door, the outside of the refrigerator (not even the grill at the bottom), the sides of the counters, the switchplates, the telephone, the ceiling fan and all of the backsplashes that are only ~4" high behind the sink and counters -- all of which I then cleaned, myself. She also did not even spray clean the ceramic tiles in the prep/sink area (no less scrub them).
In the secondary bathroom, "Cleaner #2" did not clean the outside of the toilet (lower or upper) or the mirror (the simplest possible job) and the faucet cleaning was very poorly done, with several areas missed. I ended up having to clean all of these areas, myself. In the primary bathroom, "Cleaner #2" never washed the floor at all, nor did she clean the outside of the toilet (lower or upper -- the lower part was VERY dirty and I can't believe that she left without doing this), the fixtures in the tub/shower, the mirror or even wet-wiped the ceramic tiles, no less cleaned them. I ended up having to completely clean/re-clean both bathrooms to get all areas missed (including washing the floor in the primary bathroom) or not cleaned well. Also, when I checked to see what vacuuming was done, I saw no evidence of any wood surfaces being done and, in the secondary bedroom that has a 5' x 8' carpet, there were gobs and gobs of cat fur -- apparently, the vacuum pulled them up, but not INTO the vacuum (I just picked up these pieces by hand).
While the cleaners were still at my house, I emailed Kathy to schedule a floor steam cleaning date. After they left, I emailed Kathy about my total dissatisfaction with that day's cleaning, detailing all of my issues. Kathy did not respond to any emails on Saturday. I emailed and called her on Sunday. She responded via email that she was not answering her phone and asked if she could call me between 4:00 & 5:00 p.m.; I emailed that this was fine, but she did not call me. I emailed later that I still was still available til 7:00, but she did not call me. On Monday, Kathy emailed: "I marked it [the Groupon deal] at half value, indicating you still have one cleaning left. We have made some allowances in your case, as far as using your second cleaning as steam cleaning your floors, although normally not involved in a basic groupon cleaning." After I complained to Groupon, Kathy emailed: "I've responded to your post....you can get a refund." I then emailed: "please confirm that you are refunding $79," to which she responded: "No, since we were already out once, you will only get half." That is, Kathy is now refusing to go ahead with the floor steam cleaning and was only authorizing a refund for that portion, but not for the initial visit with which I was/am completely dissatisfied.
"We were not in operation in 2012"
"This information is incorrect. Customer purchased a spring cleaning special for $150, which was performed by self and another crew member. Job was started at 4, ended at 520, which is irrelevant since all services were performed, regardless of time or number of crew members, since that was not advertised in the spring cleaning special. 10 days later, customer's mother sent me a picture of pipes under a sink into the bathroom wall that had cobwebs. Service purchased was $150 spring cleaning, which was completely performed and satisfactory to the customer, until the mother arrived home 10 days later to complain about the sink pipes. We do not clean sink pipes."
"Thank you!"
