Extremely pleased with every aspect of the job. Dave was very accommodating and he and the crew worked extremely hard, like a fine tuned machine to complete everything (in one day!). The roof looks great and what impressed me was the little things that were done to make sure everything was done right. The main word that comes to mind, to summarize everything, is Professional. Definitely knew what they were doing and wasted no time doing it!
.SInce we recently moved into this house, we had a "home warranty" and Dave also stopped over and gave us an estimate on the leaky spot and worked with the warranty company so we could get partially reimbursed for that leaking area. So he was very responsive and I liked dealing with him.
On the day of the roof replacement, they showed up very promptly with 4 trucks, with all the materials they needed plus extra like additional plywood. They also brought along their own porta-potty so no one needed to come into the house. The working guys were mostly Amish, and soon as things were unpacked they got right to work. They wasted no time starting on taking off shingles, in a quick yet orderly manner. It appeared as they pulled off old shingles and stacked them to be tossed over into the dump truck in neat piles.
Partway through the day I was called and asked about replacing some soft plywood panels. I was glad to get the call to check on that and I said yes I would pay the extra expense to have the roof replaced more soundly. I was charged a reasonable amount for the extra materials. When they left, I believe they had a magnetic nail picker-upper and I only saw 2 small screws on the driveway. It appeared they hand swept my entire driveway before they left.
The roof looks great, all the shingles appear straight and even. The gutters are seamless and were installed properly and with nice downspouting as I had requested as far as new directions on some ends. The gutter guards were installed and look like a very nice and long lasting design, as well as not being overly pricey.
Honestly I thought replacing my roof would have cost $11,000. Our roof is as simple as it gets, all flat with no extra windows or outcroppings. But their price was amazing, to include gutters was just fantastic. I'd use them again, but I think this roof will last quite some time.
I highly recommend them!
Dave came on March 28 to give me an estimate on a new roof, I called on Monday to let him know we wanted to get on his schedule and that we were in a pinch for time due to the fact we wanted to put our house on the market. He said he could work us in during the next couple of weeks. Tuesday he called to have me confirm the color of shingles I wanted. By Tuesday evening he was calling us back to see if he could do the roof on Wednesday. Unfortunately, we had snow Tuesday evening and there was still snow on the roof Wednesday morning, but he called again Wednesday night to see if they could come Thursday. Thursday morning arrived and they were right on time. There were about 7 workers and they wasted no time getting right to work tearing the old roof off. They replaced sheeting that had been damaged from a leak around the chimney. The damage was fairly extensive. They re-flashed everything, installed ice guard, and also fixed some siding issues that I asked him to look at on the back of our house. They were done by 4:30. We were truly impressed with their work and their true friendliness and helpfulness. I would recommend them to anyone. I am certain that whomever purchases our home will be happy for many years with their workmanship.
I waited one particularly bad winter before evaluating. I couldn't be happier. I would recommend Kish Valley to anyone.
Finding a roofer for such a small job was fearfully going to be a difficult task. I started with Kish Valley Roofing because they were at the top of Angie's list for the area and contacted them. I left a message on Monday, August 18th and got a call-back on Tuesday, the 19th. I gave my address and they were there to assess the roof on Wednesday. I got a call mid-afternoon that my problem was most likely the cracked boot for one of two vent-pipes from the bathrooms. He told me that the other boot on that roof was also in rough shape . I told him to proceed with replacing the two boots and also asked him to caulk around any joints where the rooflines come together and around the ridge/roof vents. He was able to do the work immediately after I OK'd the work and that was all it took - all for a whopping $50. I must add that I contacted about four other vendors on Angie's lists too. I did receive calls back from two that said the job was too small for them to leave their bigger jobs to do, the one's phone number did not go to him at all (went to a welder?!?), and the fourth never returned my phone call at all.
So, I would highly recommend Kish Valley Roofing. They were prompt, professional, cost-effective and did a nice job. When we replace our roof in the next five years or so, I plan on giving them the first call for that work!.
We gave the go-ahead to replace the roof late last fall, but they were unable to come until the spring because of other jobs as well as the awfully cold winter. But boy oh boy, did they come! In about 6 hours, Dave and his crew tore up the old roof, installed ice/rain shield, roof paper, shingles, ridge caps, as well as all-new gutters and down spouts all around. In that time, they also ran magnets around to pick up nails and other metal debris, picked up all other debris by hand and then ran a leaf blower before they left. You would have never known that they had been there. Plus, they brought their own porta-potty so they didn't need to enter our 1,100 SF house!
There were no gotchas; that is, the final paperwork reflected the original estimate, which was lower than five other State College roofers. In the end, I was VERY impressed and would HIGHLY recommend them.
On September 17, Dave Peavey called and asked if the next day would be accepteble since he had had a cancellation (reason unknown to me). It was short notice, but we had planned to be home that day so I accepted.
Dave and his crew of 10 showed up at 7:30 am as planned. They sized up the job, set up and had the old roof off by 9:30. The old shingles were handled very efficiently with a minimum of mess into his dumptruck. Very little debris made it to the yard.
They assessed the dormers where we had leaks and recommended some changes which made sense. The majority of the crew then started installing 7/16 plywood over the whole roof surface. Two or three focused on the dormer changes. Once the plywood was down, they started installing the shingles. By 5 pm, 80% of the shingles on the house were done.
Dave asked whether I was concerned about rain that night, but the weather was supposed to be good, so I said no. I think he would have finished the main roof that evening if I had had a concern.
They were back at 7:30 the next morning, finished the main roof and the garage roof. They were done by 11 am. Two of the younger members of his crew spent a lot of time picking up small pieces of debris and running large magnets everywhere to pick up nails. I was impressed by how thorough they were.
I was impressed by how hard all of his crew worked. I would definitely hire Kish Valley again and will recommend them to my friends.
