I hired a a plumbing company in September to find a potential leak. They came and failed to do their job. They stayed for 5 minutes and told us it was the flashing on the roof. I had requested they cut the wall open and told them of a bathroom that was above, the wall was ruined already as well, so cutting open the wall wasn’t an issue. When we got the wall replaced we found a seven foot crack in the sewage pipe, that they failed to find during their 5 minute stay. I was charged $100 for the 5 minutes and left with undiscovered leak.

This is one of the most reliable plumbing outfits in the area. They answer immediately, and will send people on weekends. They have saved our skins a couple of times since we have an inadequate drain line that clogs periodically, usually on holidays. However, the last time I called it was for an unusual problem-- kitchen faucet was clogged-- which I suspected came from a new tankless water heater we just installed a few months ago. True to past performance, they got someone to the house quite quickly, quicker than anyone else in the area. Tech cleaned a faucet and shower traps of mineral sediment, confirmed it looked like mineral deposit. 15 minute visit. Problem persisted-- faucet clogged in two days-- so I called again. I said the problem was ongoing, and they said they would send another tech, and her exact words were "I won't charge you." They sent someone else, who cleaned the traps and looked at the heater. He said electric tankless heaters don't do well with hard water, gave me an idea about a water softener costs, left. I got a bill for $190: they had charged me for two separate visits. When I called to ask about this, they got quite defensive. They demanded the name of the person to whom I had spoken (I don't take such records as a habit, preferring to trust the word of small businesses, plus as far as I can recall she didn't identify herself), and then they informed me that they charge for service calls no matter what. I said that's not what their scheduler had told me: return visits for the same problem? Yes. Attendant got quite defensive and told me to just "pay for the one visit" but that my "account would be flagged" and hung up on me. I am assuming this means my business is no longer welcome there. I will pay the full bill for both visits, since I have nothing in writing to support my position, no estimate, no phone recording, just the bill, so I suppose it's my mistake for taking verbal assurance over written documentation to something that seems common sense and common courtesy. I but will share this customer service experience with anyone who asks about plumbers in the area. Good, responsive plumbers; uncalled for, aggressive customer service.

A technician spent 10 minutes deicing heat pump blades, but billed 90 minutes without disclosing travel time/Sat. surcharges. This company charged me over $11,000 less than 4 years ago to install two heat pumps, only one of which had anti-vibration pads installed. The technician thought my warranty would cover the brief visit, but I received a $202.50 charge for 10 minutes of service. I thought this company was fair and ethical. Not anymore. I feel cheated and charged vastly in excess of what Hazel should have charged. Steer clear of this unethical company!

Hazel's installed a York heat pump when my house was built. The heat pump began to break down after about 2 years. I would generally have to wait for their techs to be available but on the appointment day they were usually prompt. Generally the service performed was OK but somewhat pricey. I eventually got tired of the frequent repairs and the repair bills. What changed my mind about them was when my compressor went out for the third time. The service person spent no more than 10 minutes with me and said that nothing else could be done short on installing a new unit. Not wishing an overabundance of future repair visits, I opted to go to another brand (Trane).

Total job which included removal of old boiler went extremely well. One minor problem after installation which technician responded to immediately. Great job!

Well enough. Very old house including many copper pipes. Plumber did his best to loosen and clear some debris and this helped the pressure to some extent, but he indicated that the only way to truly open up the pipes would be to replace the copper pipes. Already contacted them to set up a time to get an estimate on redoing these pipes for a longer term solution.

I'm a disaster installing things, so I called them.  They arrived on time; got it done in a timely manner and were very professional.  I will use them again.

We didn't get a call from them for more than 2 weeks after their initial visit.   When we finally called them to ask about the parts and when they expected them, the receptionist told us that the parts had been in for several days, but nobody had called us to set up an appointment toreturn to our house to fix the unit.  Of course we made an appointment immediately, and they were able to repair our unit within 2 days of our phone call.  It works great now and we are warm!  We would definitely call them again with problems, but next time we will follow-up with quicker phone calls if they don't call us back for a repair appointment a few days after their initial visit.

Pros: Somebody is answering the phone right away, they are trying to get somebody in as soon as possible and when they come in your house they look professional.

Cons: I might have been simply unlucky reading the other reviews, but I used them about 4 times in about 3-4 years and I had issues with their repairs. The first time they had to repair three small things: 2 faucets and  toilet, after 1 week, the toilet was not working. Called them up, came back, fixed it and it did not cost me their time. So far, so good. Once they came to repair something, everything went OK. The third time, I called them to fix another toilet, it broke again after a week or two. Then the water heater broke, so I called them for the water heater and the toilet. They fixed both, then the water heated broke again. I had to ask them to come in "overtime" (more pay/hour) to tell me that it can not be fixed and I better replace it. I asked for a price quote. They gave me one and indeed they replaced it the next day. When I received the bill, I had to pay a few extra hundred dollars than the original quote and the toilet which was fixed for the second time broke again. For all these repeat calls, I had to pay for their time. After this last issue, I decided to look into other companies. Now whenever something breaks in my house, I know whom to call, get a fixed price quote and have it repaired the first time.

One other thing that I don't like: they charge for at least 1 h of work, even if it takes them 10 min and they don't tell you upfront how much it costs. You just receive a bill later....

They entered our place and he put boot covering so he would not track in snow and slush.  Did all the work necessary, answered any questions I had and was very professional.  They initially installed the system and I was very happy with that call as well. They do excellent work.

The technician was very prompt and professional. ?The work was done efficiently and effectively.

Replied promptly to our frantic plea for help. Arrived quickly and did the switch out with no muss and no fuss. A good experience considering the circumstances.

Once or twice, a problem materialized after they left, and they came back promptly to fix it and didn't charge for the return visit.

This is the third time we used Hazel for heating, AC and pluming.  Each time the performed very well.  Their attention to detail and the customer is unmatched by any other I have used.  I have recommended them to others with the same result.
