I have called and called, no one has ever returned my call. At this point I will move on to the next business.

Overall, the work that was done the day that the crew came was done very well. They worked hard and did dig everything up that needed to go and worked amazingly quick to get the job done. The planting bed in the rear and the ever-returning day lilies were all removed and the dirt seeded/covered in hay. The front planting bed was done equally as quickly, but the plants that were planted were much smaller/immature than I expected (probably how they kept the price down). When they left everything looked very nice and we were quite satisfied.
Of course, the nice moderately cool weather with plenty of rain ended right after the work and we started with a heat snap and big dry spell. We weren't going to be around the house for a few weeks, so I hired a neighbors adolescent son to come and water the new grass/front planting bed daily. When we returned several of the plants did not survive, despite the watering. I contacted the office and they told me that they do offer a guarantee and that he would come out to look at the plants and then have them replaced.
Well, that never happened and now we will need to plant the replacement plants ourselves in the spring. Also, the fall showed us that the roots of the sand cherries were not adequately dug up and we had them sending shoots up from unpulled roots. We also noted that no weed-blocking fabric had been used, so there were plenty of weeds and grass to be pulled in the fall as well.
I did get three estimates on the work and the price from Granite was the lowest of the three. I guess you get what you pay for - while I would consider them for work in the future, I would be more specific about the weed-block and size of the plants that were being provided.
The bottom line is that the old planting bed is gone and we have grass again back there and the front planting bed with our pear tree looks TONS better than with those two sand cherry bushes, so I am satisfied generally.

A crew of four (later reduced to two) arrived at about 8:00 and left at 1:30; they seemed brisk, efficient, and friendly. It took a followup call to be sure I was on the calendar, but all went well, and in this business it is hard to hit deadlines within a couple of days, owing to weather, holidays, and so on. On the whole, satisfied with the service.
UPDATE, July 22, 2013: on later inspection, the next day, I realized that in edging around a 10 year old red maple tree in my front yard, one of the workers, using, apparently, a power edger, cut through some roots, one of which was thumb-sized. Maple trees have roots that spread across the surface and just under. I was concerned that this mistake might have seriously damaged the tree, even set it on a path to destruction. I visited Granite Landscaping again, right away, and made a friendly report of the problem, asking that the owner, to whom I was speaking, stop by at some point and have a look so that we could have an understanding in case the tree develops problems. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE SINCE, AND IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Under the circumstances, I would be wary about using this service again.

Landscaping, Snow Removal + 3 more
They provide service about every week and a half. They take care of our snow removal in the winter as well. We have had bad lawn care providers in the past. This company is always polite and well-mannered. They are good.
