Did an exceptional job. This was done in June 2012. We were getting our home resided and we also wanted a steel door to replace the old wooden door. I ordered the door myself from Home Depot. I called Paul when the door was delivered and he and a helper installed the door with new privacy glass sidelights. Paul scheduled us so that we would have the door installed before the house was resided. He did an excellent job and also installed a new storm door that we also purchased. Our neighbors have stated to us a number of times as to how beautiful our front door and frame look. I have also read that realtors say that an attractive front door is a major factor when trying to sell a home.

From the time of the first phone call to the end of the installation, I could not have been more pleased. Paul was thorough in his explanation of the job, answered all of my questions, and gave me confidence that I was hiring a real professional. He described in detail everything he was going to do and the reason for doing it. Since all of these steel door sidelight systems are custom ordered, he asked that I give him $1000 to pay for the door. I thought this to be reasonable, since if he paid for the door and for some reason I changed my mind, he would be stuck with a custom built, unreturnable item. I ordered the storm door myself from Home Depot and purchased the door knob and dead bolt lock for the door. Also, these doors come only finished with a sealer prime, so I also purchased paint. Paul does not do the painting, but he gave me the name of a painter if I chose not to paint it myself. I was so happy that Paul said he would come on a Saturday to install the door. We are also getting the entire house vinyl sided. It is important that the door be installed before the siding, as it is not uncommon when a 43 year old door system is removed, some damage to the shingles is possible. By putting the door in first, any damage will not be a problem since the damaged shingles will be removed when the house is sided. Paul and his helper did a beautiful installation job. The new system looks marvelous and will look even better when the painting is done. Paul gave us an estimate of $2000 for the steel door system and the installation. Naturally, the storm door, knob, locks and paint were additional costs that I took care of myself. He estimated the door system to be $1200 and his installation to be $800. He estimate was right on the mark give or take less that $10.
Description of Work: Paul installed a steel front door with half side highlights, replacing a wooden door and highlights that was original equipment on the house which was built in 1968. Paul responded to my phone message within an hour. We set up a date and time when he could come to my house and look at the job and take measurements. He arrived right on time and came with catalogues showing various steel door systems. My wife and I generally described what we wanted. He then took measurements and said he would call us in a few days. In the meantime, he wanted us to decide exactly what we wanted. For instance, we wanted a steel door with no glass on the door itself. We wanted the sidelights to be half sidelights like the current system, but one piece of glass, rather than the three small panes of glass in the current system. We also wanted the sidelight glass to be privacy glass with a granite pattern in the glass. We also wanted a new storm door. When Paul called we gave him this information. When we told him about the storm door, he then recommended an extended jamb on the steel door to give adequate space between the two doors. He then placed the order for the door and he recommended that we pick out our own storm door and he would install it. We did this at our local Home Depot. He also reminded us that the door would not come with a knob or a deadbolt lock and that we should purchase these items and he would install them for us. There was a delay in getting the steel door system, due to our desire to want the privacy glass. Paul had set up Tuesday, June 12 as the installation date, but the door had not yet been shipped by the manufacturer. They gave him a date of June 14 as shipping date. This presented a problem as both Paul, and my wife and I, were leaving for vacation the following week. Paul called me on Friday, June 15, to say the door was arriving that afternoon and he would be at my house to meet the truck. He arrived before the delivery truck and he and the driver moved the door into the garage. Paul then informed me that he would be willing to work Saturday, the 16th, to install the door so it would be complete before we both left for vacation. He arrived promptly at 7:45 AM on the 16th and he and his helper had the system and the storm door completely installed by 1:30 PM.

I contacted Paul (I had used him before to put an addition on my home) in late May. He measured the windows, informed me of my options, recommended a good quality vinyl window, ordered them from his supplier and showed up for the job on the time and date we had agreed upon. He finished the job in a timely manner and cleaned up after himself. We were very satisfied with his work.
Description of Work: Paul replaced 13 casement windows in my home. He put new brick molding on the exterior and new frames on the interior. The price included all materials and labor.
