I called Tim to fix a shower valve. He was able to come within the hour. After a brief inspection he made some suggestions for options of replacement, came back with parts within 30 minutes and completed the job. While he was at it, he he replaced a missing trim piece on a faucet and replaced an aerator on a sink that our previous plumber removed and never replaced. Prompt, professional and reasonably priced. I think we finally found a plumber we can use more than once!

It went great. Tim was able to come out the day after I got in touch with him. He quickly assessed the problem and had the disposal back up and running in about a minute. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and gave me tips for what to do the next time it happens. He was also extremely affordable.

Tim did excellent work. I was expecting a huge amount of work but turns out it was a simple leaky seal; he had it replaced in under an hour. I will be calling him again for all my plumbing needs!

We have an 8-9 year old Franke goose neck faucet that is now with it's third issue. The prior two - a leaking goose neck and the 2nd, a leaking sprayer faucet, Franke sent the parts without issue - but that was several years ago. Now, however that the problem will require a complete head unit replacement, Franke tells us the model has been discontinued for 10 years so Franke refuses to replace the unit (not cheap!); instead offering to sell us a similar unit at "half price" of their web site full retail price! Based on Tim's explanations of the unit design there are inherent design flaws (such as no full swivel for the side sprayer, and inferior material inside the cold supply line extension for the sprayer unit) we are not inclined to replace a bad design with another - in particular with the poor customer service by Franke. Tim was very helpful in contacting the manufacturer to seek help even though he was not the contractor who did the initial installation. He has also made sure that at lease we can use the sink and hot water while we shop for a replacement faucet unit. Unquestionably when we have a replacement unit Tim will be performing the installation. He is the model plumber to call!

Tim was great.  This was my first time using him.  I have read many positive reviews about him so I decided to give him a try.  He showed up when he said he would and got right to work.  He worked quickly and made sure everything was cleaned up and working before he left.  I did not shop around for prices because it was a smaller job, but his pricing was very fair based on the amount of time he was here.

Left voice message that toilet was running.  Within  2 hours, Tim responded he was on his way and came and repaired same day.

Mr. McColgan replaced a toilet that was leaking (a cracked water tank) and repaired a faulty faucet. We found Mr. McColgan to be efficient, knowledgeable, courteous, and his pricing is quite reasonable. I will definitely call Mr. McColgan again for future plumbing needs.

I actually worked with Tim McColgan on two previous occasions and found him to be very professional and reasonably priced. This occasion unfortunately went terribly wrong and I will never call him again.
I called him on a Saturday to ask if he could install a new shutoff valve for my dishwasher as the installers were coming the following week. He said no problem and I should call him back on Monday. I did as he asked and left a message but did not receive a return call. I left another message that evening as I was anxious to have the problem resolved. I called again the following day and Tim answered and sounded quite annoyed that I was calling him. He promised to come out on Thursday and told me he would call to confirm on Wednesday night. At this point I realized he had no intentions of calling me back so I found someone else. As predicted, I never heard from Tim again.
It's sad because my experience up until that point had been quite good. If Mr. McColgan had only said he was too busy then I would have found someone else and never thought the worse of him. As a result of him not being honest I will never call him again.

His prices are very fair, he is very good, and he's a clean worker. He is also fairly priced. He spent a lot of time and did a very good job.

Tim has done so many jobs for us, it is hard to count. In addition to taking care of our routine heater/boiler/radiator maintenance, he has replaced toilets, and a garbage disposal, installed sinks, replaced some old cast-iron pipes etc. He is always true to his estimates, leaves his job sites as clean as he found them, and generally let's you sleep better at night knowing if you have a plumbing emergency, he will be there in a flash. We feel lucky to have him work in our area and because he and his dad have worked this house for over 30 years sort of and quot;comes with the deal.and quot; I'm not sure how many new customers he can handle, because he is an institution in Lower Merion / Ardmore / Narberth, but if you are looking for a dependable plumbing / heating guy you would be lucky to get Tim as and quot;your guy.and quot;

Yet again, Tim's work was nothing less than heroic. In the middle of the night, we discovered a leak in the pipe feeding the toilet in our master bath. Water was streaming from our foyer ceiling and into our basement (through hardwood floors.) We shut off the and quot;whole-houseand quot; valve and waited until morning to call Tim. He was already on a job, but promised to show up late morning to early afternoon (which he did.)

We had expected to either have to break the bathroom tile up (a horrendous proposition) OR chip out the PLASTER (not drywall) in the family room to get at the pipes. Tim was able to finesse the threads with a few hand tools and some lubricant to the extent he was able to repair the pipe without a scratch to a wall. A less scrupulous (or talented) plumber would have just charged us a fortune to break down walls and do it the hard way. Once again, Tim was creative, honest (and yes, a little lucky) but at the end of the day, we are the lucky ones to have him as our plumber.

I think he did an excellent job. He was easy to work with and very trustworthy. I would use him again.
