I did not want to badmouth them 7 years ago, as they are a small, local business, and so never went on another site to share my displeasure. But I didn't know then what I just discovered now.
I'm trying to sell my home, and a potential buyer's home inspection found knob and tube wiring throughout the entire house. McClelland simply wired up all of my new fixtures, chandelier, ceiling fan, lighting fixtures, and outlets throughout the home - to the old knob and tube. The only new wiring they did was for new 3-pronged outlets that I requested for an AC, and for the kitchen appliances.
This was a 1927, fixer-upper house I had just purchased. They tore the walls apart and did extensive wiring throughout the home.
Would this not have been the perfect time to inform me that I had knob and tube wiring - when I wasn't living in the house - and when walls were already open, and the entire house was under renovation with a painter and plasterer right there on the premises?
No, because they elected to do the work the laziest possible way.
I cannot now sell my home. A potential buyer's home inspection found the problem, and I must now disclose it to all. One buyer, from whom I had an offer, walked away from the deal.
Thanks, McClelland Electric, for not only doing the work you did do in an utterly lazy, semi-competent fashion. Thanks for ruining my finances, and killing a house deal. The real thanks is from the next electrician who has to break through my walls throughout the house, and redo all of your shoddy work for thousands and thousands of dollars at my expense.
