It went very well. I'm a very busy person and I've mainly communicated with Peter via email, which is my preference. To his credit there hasn't been any misunderstanding on what I wanted to occur. His crew showed up promptly when scheduled and worked for a few hours. He finished ahead of schedule and reduced the hourly portion of the cost accordingly. I was happy with the results. Subsequently, he took care of weekly yard work and leaf cleanup recently, which has occurred to my satisfaction.

They came out once and they have gotten behind so I have not seen them again since April. The work was fair from what I could tell.

The service went poorly. They had less than adequate mowing service, they were sloppy, they didn't show up timely, made excuse when raining because of blade requirements, and they would trim some areas because it would trim off too much of their weed eating line. They sent no email and didn't call if there was a no show but still charged us for the service.
Response from LANDRUM LANDSCAPING
"The member signed up for “flat-rate monthly mowing”, not weekly cutting as she claims. Our flat-rate policy is in place to prevent problems with customers such as this. If a lawn gets missed one week, the crew would have to spend a lot of time the following week with additional trimming mowing and edging to catch up with the previously missed mowing. Our flat-rate policy covers these additional expenses. Her property is surrounded by a stone wall and iron fence with only one entrance at the driveway. No other access to her property exists. Someone in her household would frequently park a car that would block access to the lawn that would prevent us from mowing it. My crew would attempt as many as 6 times in one week to gain access to the yard but no one would answer the door to move the car. If the access was blocked in the morning, the crew would attempt it again at the end of the day. We wasted countless hours and gallons of gasoline trying to accommodate her property’s unique conditions. It is important to note that her lawn was successfully cut 4 times per month. Her property is on a main road near our yard that I pass daily and I personally guarantee that she received the proper amount of mowing each month. She is probably confused because it ended up being cut on different days of the week, making it hard to determine a schedule. This is not our fault. I am insulted by this review for a number of reasons. First, I have 4 specific emails from the member complimenting us on our responsiveness and quality of work, both for mowing and for the gardening that we provided as well as for our simple billing methods. She directly thanked me for being professional and responsible. I have no emails or phone calls registering any complaints. Secondly, parts of her yard were frequently littered with trash and dog waste. The crew frequently had to skip certain portions of the yard due to piles of trash. She claims in her review that we “missed” areas but this was based completely on the sloppy trashy condition of her yard. These conditions were constant from the time I looked at the property in March of 2012 right through until September when my crew last visited her property. It is important to note at this point that the member has not paid her bills since June, despite receiving grass cutting for July, August and September. We suspended her service for October due to non-payment. I emailed her to see if there was a problem. At this point she said that a few cuts were missed. I asked for the number of missed cuts and dates missed in order to credit her account and she was unable to provide answers to either question. I tried to work with her but she was hard to reach and did not furnish any additional information. I found it strange that she waited until she was so far behind with her payments to inform me that her lawn was skipped. I also found it strange that she knew the lawn was skipped but didn’t know when or how many times. I told her I could discount her some mowing if she provided any details as to when it was missed or how many cuts were missed. She has yet to furnish any information. It is also important at this point to state that the member claims to have sent a check, yet we haven’t received any. I attempted to contact her 6 weeks later regarding the check that she claimed to have sent and got no response. A week later, this review on Angie’s List showed up. We have yet to receive the check. I suspect that she is simply trying to avoid paying her bill and her claims of bad service are simply a cover up. I ASK THAT THE CUSTOMER REMOVE OR EDIT THIS REVIEW TO REFLECT ONLY THE TRUTH, since she was very happy with our service throughout the year. Trying to avoid payment does not mean that our services were bad."

Overall we were pleased with quotation but after the deposit was paid and the initial clean up of the lot was done it was difficult to get the crew back for the installation of plants, top soil and mulch. As we moved later into the month of November we insisted on having plantings done before the weather turned. We were finally able to get this scheduled but the installation of plants, top soil and mulch appears hurried and sloppy. Some plants were not even planted into the dirt and simply dropped and covered with mulch. We contacted Pete about coming back to install the plants correctly. We were told that this is the way that Landrum installs plants. After consulting other professionals we understand this to be improper planting. I am concerned that these plants may not live through the winter months and we'll have wasted hundreds of dollars are plants and shrubs that will have to be replaced.

I think they do a pretty good job for the work they are supposed to do. I think their service is expensive. I will not use them in the future.

the work was great. I actually didn't realize the extensive trenching work involved in installing a french drain outside. in no way did it prevent normal use of our property while the work was underway.

They come based on how quickly grass is growing/amount of rain. Sometimes weekly, sometimes less. But to simplify billing, I am billed the same amount each month, from April to October. They do a satisfactory job mowing the lawn. One thing to note is that when you hire them to mow your lawn for the season, it is implied that you agree to ongoing mowing for the next season and the next, etc., unless you specifically call to cancel. I was not aware of that when I hired them last year, but it is not that big a deal for me because I don't have time to mow anyway.

Pete and his team were great! The berm was a very inexpensive solution to a drainage problem we were having and was completed promptly and professionally. The new perennial beds are perfect in front of our bungalow and immediately received complements from neighbors on all sides, including one who has lived in the neighborhood since the 1940's -- he said that the house had never looked better! Pete was extremely easy to work with. He was patient with my questions about the plants he suggested, he was mindful of selecting drought-tolerant plants since he was planting during the August heat, was excellent with his communication, and sent me the listing of the plants he planted and care instructions once he finished the install. Overall we were extremely pleased and will be using Landrum again in the future!

This was a small job, so it was fit in when Landrum had availble time. The crew came and cut down the bamboo at the end of December. They were very thorough and checked with me to make sure they did all that I wanted. They did a great job of cleaning up. The tilling wasn't done until the end of January. This was not a problem as replanting wasn't going to start until the spring.

very poor was not willing to correct mistakes see previous report. He makes excuses and blames me for his poor work. I never cut my lawn too low or any of the other nonsense he claimed in his reply. His reply speeks volumes about his true character and busness sense.

The project was started and completed in a reasonable length of time with no delays. Extra gravel was applied to allow for subsidence. A buried low voltaage wire to exterior lighting was cut and the repair was performed promptly at no extra cost.

Our lawn has never looked so good. They only came out once the drought had ended so that the grass would be most likely to grow. They were efficient and communicated frequently. I would use them again without question and highly recommend them.

I have a contract with them. They do a good job. The job that they did turned out very nice. The owner is very affable. He does a very well thought out and well-organized estimate. I like the way he does the estimates. They get their billing right. There are never any charges that surprise me. I have used him for two summers. It costs $1000 to $1500 per season. I like their work. I would use them again in the future.

We had a personality and philosophy difference and approach to landscaping and we just couldn't jell. I didn't feel like they were hundred percent consistent with the mowing but I was billed for it.

Peter Landrum, the owner, was very responsive. I liked him a lot. My only problem was that the actual workers were different. I didn't actually get to see him at the end of the two jobs. On one job, there was a problem. There was a portion of the job that they hadn't finished. He couldn't know because he wasn't around the job. However, he did come back and fix it. I prefer people that actually do the work, or who at least are there with their people. I didn't see him throughout the entire job. In the end, they did fine. The pricing was reasonable.
Response from LANDRUM LANDSCAPING
"In all fairness, I was under the impression that she had moved out. She had already bought another house and was living in the new location so I didn't think that I would be able to interact with the customer where the work was being done. This project was a last-minute rush job to get the house to settlement so we squeezed her in at the last minute. I had been on the job the other times my crew did work there."
