In May, we ordered a Viking popup camping trailer from Mike Ziegler. We gave him the list of options that we wanted, based on the information then obtainable from the Viking website.
After some delays (the inquiries into which were only vaguely answered by Mr. Ziegler), we were able to pick up the unit on Monday, July 16th, 2012.
(The unit had been there for over a week, but we were on our honeymoon the week of July 8 - 13, which is why we arranged pickup for the 16th.)
Despite having had an entire week to perform the installation of the roof vent cover and to prep the unit, we were kept waiting for THREE AND ONE HALF HOURS, while that work was done. In addition, the inside of the unit was dirty, so I'm not certain what "prep" actually consisted of.
Also, we were informed that the units do not ship with batteries (this was NOT told to us when we ordered the unit and made the down payment), so we had to purchase a battery. They were out of marine-type batteries that are the best to use, so we had to settle for a regular automotive battery (which means that we'll have to purchase a marine-type battery in a few years).
When we given the tour of the unit, and shown how to use it (open, close, heater, AC, etc.), the electrically-heated mattresses were pointed out to us. This was an unwelcome surprise, because -- at the time of my research, last April and May -- they were listed as optional, and we did not want them; they were NOT on our list of options.
When I questioned the dealer, I was told that they are now standard. f I had known this when I ordered the unit, I would have had second thoughts and may well have NOT purchased the Viking.
I feel that the dealer was not open and honest with me during this process. They seemed disorganized and haphazard when it came to details. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this dealership.
