Don was punctual, tidy, and professional. We feel safer that we won't have water damage from our chimney. He kindly added the service of straightening a weather vane for us; a very personable provider of chimney repair! I felt as if I were a valued customer!

Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich (Owners) came to my home and were the utmost professionals in their craft. Prior to arrival, Mr. Urlich noticed the urgency in my call and came and inspected the chimney and provided me with a competitive bid and got the job. I felt pure honesty and integrity from both owners. I would recommend giving this company a call and hiring them for the task. Did I mention they are very clean and considerate when it comes to your home. *****

Some other companies were slightly cheaper; however, his pricing seemed more straight forward, and he was easier to talk to about the cleaning.

I was impressed...they were upfront about the cost and were very efficient in contacting us about our appointment a day or two before they were to arrive. Don was very nice to work with and took photographs of the inside of our chimney to show me what had been done. He gave a very thorough explanation of the process.

Inspector left greasy, sooty, handprints on interior walls that we had to clean up, otherwise rating would have been higher.

I was charged $2000.00. They wanted my check made out to cash. When I questioned why cash and not the company name I was told that by making the check out for cash they would save money on taxes. There explanation makes no sense to me. I have been told by some one that oil burner chimneys do not require cleaning. The whole situation smells.
Response from Maximum Energy Savers
"As the owner of Maximum energy savers I wanted to take the time to help clarify this complaint. Here at maximum we pride ourselves in our reputation and integrity of our work. As technicians it is our job to make customers aware of how the chimney for the heating system operates and what maintenances help enhance the performance. Code 211 of the National fire protection agency recommends that Oil Flues be cleaned annually and gas flues be cleaned every 18-24 months. In this case our customer heats with oil, we are unaware of who said that the oil burner chimney does not require cleanings but that is the furthest from the truth. During the heating season oil burners are subject to long running cycles in order to heat the home. As the oil heating system runs it will produce soot that will make itself up the chimney attaching to the flue walls and will even fall into the base of the chimney. This soot will restrict the flow of flue gases such as nitrogen and carbon dioxide. The flue pipe is a material called terracotta, which is very similar to a clay flower pot. Most home owners are unaware what exactly soot can do to the inside clay of the chimney. Soot is made up of carbon and sulphur, and once moisture from gases is absorbed into the clay flues it will start to break down the inside chimney causing parts of the flue to flake or deteriorate. Chimney cleanings remove this extra soot build up and debris. Many homeowners believe that their oil burner companies take care of the chimney but in all reality they clean out the base of the burner and perform repairs on the heating system it self. Our job picks up where they leave off. Our technicians clean the entire length of the flue pipe with long poly brushes removing all soot that is built up on the interior walls of the flue pipe. This helps the oil burner to run more smoothly by keeping deterioration to a minimum. As a company all of our employees explain this process to our customers. In this case we installed a stainless steel lining system to by pass existing chimney. Our install was done correctly from top to bottom as all our work is, as you can see our company has zero complaints regarding the integrity of our work. This customer wanted a lower price so we had informed him that he could pay cash to save a few dollars. There are several sources a home owner can look into such as CSIA and NCSG. Knowledge is power and as homeowners information is key, it is important for everyone to do their research and understand the most they can about how there heating system and chimney function. The heating system is the heart of the home and proper maintenance can insure a fully effective and functional performance."

Clean, inspect and re-line flue to furnace. Quality of work was excellent. Only problem was clean up after they left. Needed to mop up laundry room and clean a few places on carpet, dirtied by oily residue on shoes.
