Very unhappy with the quality of workmanship. The chimney rebuild went well except for a water leak at the flashing. the sidewalk was terrible as if they had never done a sidewalk before. The patio was not graded properly so water now runs back towards the foundation, the steps had gaps where they did not belong , adhesive was spilt in the top of the steps and would not come off.

First I would like to say that everyone at Lehigh Valley Chimney was very nice and they were able to finish a job another masonry contractor, whom was from Easton Pa had started. The other mason contractor "Not Lehigh Valley Chimney" started the job but disappeared after I gave him $5000 deposit for labor and materials. The reason I mention the other mason is because people really need to be careful when hiring a contractor, do your research, I didn't. As for Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists, I hired them for a couple projects. The first being the chimney. They came looked at the chimney and gave me a good price. It was completed in a reasonable time frame and I was happy with the overall appearance and construction. However I do have a few complaints. 1) The chimney was supposed to be taken down to the roof line so you wouldn't notice the difference between the new and old brick due to the original brick no longer being manufactured. Approx one foot of the old chimney was left above the roof line. You can see the difference in the two brick. If they they had taken the old brick down to the roof line as was in the contract there wouldn't be an issue. 2) The roof has a small leak were the chimney comes through it. 3) Where the chimney abuts the wood structure of the home there is a gap where you can see though to the outside when in the attic. This wasn't like this before. The second project, which was a separate contract, was to replace 3 separate sets of wooden steps with block, add handrails to all three sets of steps, add a brick patio approx 21' x 21', add a short concrete sidewalk approx 10' in length from the driveway to the entrance door. I felt their price for this was high, but I needed it done and I believed the workmanship would be of the same quality. I overpaid. Unlike the chimney, which came out good, the steps, sidewalk and patio are not their specialty's. The concrete walk to the entrance door was poorly formed which left the sides wavy, the surface appeared to have been leveled with a stone rake and left to cure, it was clumpy and uneven with low dips and pockets. To look professional, it should have had smooth edges with a broom finish and sloped to the the lawn area. It looked as if a couple kids did it. They did come back after I complained but only put a surface patch over it. There is also a half inch lip to the stair landing which someone could trip on. Should have been a smooth transition. It looks terrible. It really needs to be removed and re poured. On the same sidewalk they were to do a brick step to the porch with a limestone cap. They did the entire step in brick without a cap and had to be called back to remove the top layer of brick so they could add the limestone cap, which only being approx 5' in length I assumed would be done in one piece of limestone, not two 2 1/2' pieces. The center seam on the cap is directly above the joint in the top brick, not appealing. As for the back patio, the pavers are not level and do not slope away from the house. The surface is wavy and water puddles by the house in certain areas. The other two sets of wood steps at the back of the house were replaced with landscape block, one approx 6'.6" width 7 steps, the other approx 4' width 5 steps. In one area midway in the sidewall on the large set of steps there was a 2" gap which went from one side to the other. There were large adhesive swirls on top of two of the steps. More than likely someone forgot they glued the underside of the block and set it down on the top of the step, twice. It should wear off someday. Finally the railing, we opted for the white vinyl. The first one was cut incorrectly and someone tried to fix it with a white nail through one of the plastic spindle's into the plastic handrail along with some white silicone, Really? The guy had to know you cant nail these plastic railing's together. The second one came out better, but the spindles were not level vertically, I had to ask them to fix that as well. The third set came out good except for a few of the smooth plastic spindles were quite rough. They looked like they had road rash. At the end of the day if you're looking for a company to repair your chimney, they would be a decent company for that job, you'll need a carpenter and a roofer to seal everything up though. I would give them 4 stars for the chimney and 1 for everything else.

I had three companies do estimates to replace chimney flue tile(s). Lehigh Valley was last one. Joe went on roof and discovered that we needed masonry work as well. The other two companies did not note this. They provided a very fair proposal to tear chimney down, replace tiles and rebuild with new crown. Work was done well.

Thinking everything went great, I was happy until I found out from another contractor that had to come in January when the cap blew off because they did not tighten any of the screws to hold it on... Cost me $90.00 for someone else to come out with snow and ice on the roof. The worst part is that the other very credible contractor told me the flashing was totally unnecessary and he took a picture of the crown crack that was to be repaired properly and was my MAIN concern before winter. Contacted these people through email and the owner called once. we agreed to have it REPAIRED in early March, because of the weather at that time. they have NEVER called back or respond to my email. I have before and after pictures and it's worse than it was when I initially called them last October. Next step is the magistrate, because they should NOT get away with this.
Response from Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists

"[Member Name Removed], We are sorry that you feel this way but your flashing was rusted and had a gap between the flashing and the chimney. We have been trying to get in touch with you. We reached out to you on the other site you left this exact comment on and you never responded. We called and left voice mails on 2/2/17 , 3/1/17, 3/6/17, 3/21/17, 3/24/17, 4/14/17, 4/18/17, 4/26/17. we tried to leave a message on 5/15/17 but your mailbox was full and we left two more voice mails on 5/15/17 and 6/5/17. We also sent a letter on March 24th to try to resolve the issue. Please respond to one of our many voice mails so that we may resolve this issue and complete the repairs needed instead of ignoring our calls and leaving the same inaccurate comment on every site you can, this is getting a little ridiculous."

We were selling our home and needed to have work done on the chimney in response to the buyer's inspection. We needed a fairly quick turnaround due to the contractual obligations for selling our home and Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists worked with us to meet that deadline, and that even included having to reschedule due to weather. They were very responsive to my phone calls and extremely friendly and courteous.

I found out around 4 months later, that I did need some brick work as well. They did not let me know about those issues. I have since had to hire another company to fix the masonry. The experience was disappointing.
