LA Fitness - Allentown

They had multiple things i could do there. From swimming to racket ball, training and their trainings are real good.

Given the really slim pickings in the Lehigh Valley for full services gyms, you're probably going to be hard pressed to find a gym similar to LA Fitness. After the 03/2014 refresh the facility updated a lot of the cardio machines and got caught up on maintenance that was really neglected before the refresh. The facility has some good amenities, but the locker rooms are a bit beat. Hours could be improved in my opinion, but it doesn't seem to be too bad. Overall, for a $30/mo membership fee the facility itself is not bad. *DO NOT* sign up for "personal training" at this location! I got suckered into this despite my friends giving me the same advice repeatedly, because I figured at least I would have someone to work out with once per week. It has been anything but a good experience. I have had to put up unmotivated trainers and frequent last minute cancelations. As a result I have seen absolutely no improvement because of the trainers that I would not have gotten on my own. I have had four trainers inside of one year. There is a very frequent turnover of trainers at this gym, which is frustrating because you have to frequently start over with a new trainer. I should also mention that when your trainer cancels out a session on you it takes d*** near a miracle to get the session credited back to you. If your expectations are low, then get a trainer. If you want a trainer to get results - go elsewhere.

The facility was nice. It was clean. The staff seem professional. The gym was very crowded.

It was fine. It just got too busy. It was more on parking issues. It depends when you go. Sometimes you can't find parking.

I signed up about 3 years ago, my wife wanted to sign up here, because of the pool and aerobics, they must of called my phone 5 times a week, each time offering a different offer, we finally setteled on $50 a month for both of us. In the last 3 years the place has gone downhill...to the point it is not worth it any more. I got athletes foot from the locker room 4 times, the lockers, the carpets have not been improved in the 3 years, the spa is often down. They closed the basketball court for 3 months during last fall for some reason. The people at the front desk are there to make sales, not to make anything easier for you. They do not provide towels in Allentown, though every LA fitness outside of PA does (I heard this from others). The crowd changes hour by hour. in the morning there is a lot of aerobic people, it gets quiet about mid -morning, then by lunch the free-weight jocks come in, yelling and huffing at each other, after work it is packed. My wife use to go after dinner, but now she does not feel comfortable there at night. To cancel you have to go there, and have them and quot;print out a cancelation formand quot;, then MAIL it to California..... and they might get that done in 5 days.... but hey... you will pay for the last month of service when you sign up., so I cancel now, I wait until my next pay period is over, if the paperwork cleared.... I am still good for 30 days... sham, sham sham...

He likes them. He usually goes once a week and sometimes twice a week and goes to the other location as well. He likes all the machines there and feels like he gets a good workout. He likes the one facility a little bit better than the other. He gets a good workout in both, but then he likes the pool and the sauna. He can go anytime he wants; if he has the membership card he can just walk in. The billing is fine because it is a good price.

It is a very nice facility.
