Looks great. Always addressed me politely, consulted with me on choosing new fixtures, and he explained the steps to be completed to finish the project.

Herb refinished our basement by taking out the old carpet and fixtures and replaced with new tile and all new bathroom fixtures. He updated two bathrooms and installed tile flooring in the basement and both bathrooms. He built in a beautiful bar complete with refrigerator, ice maker and custom cabinets. He painted the walks, ceiling, trim and doors. My husband had a vision for the basement and Herb completed the job above and beyond his satisfaction. Herb always cleans up after himself, is punctual and reliable. He is the type of contractor I trust to be in my house even when I am not home. He even completed our job a week early. We made some changes along the way and Herb worked with us and was flexible when we couldn't make immediate decisions. He has made several improvements to our home over the years. We really enjoy working with Herb. He does outstanding work at very competitive pricing.

Job started and completed on schedule, wall repair excellent, painting excellent and quick. Herb, much more skilled that associate who cut not cut as clean and edge and dripped more. They did a nice job and were easy to work with.

This was a 2-day project; the second day was scheduled for 2 weeks later because I had to order more wallpaper. The first day went well and the work was great, Mr. Bauer E-mailed me the first portion of the bill and I mailed him the payment.
The second day was an extremely negative experience. His carpenter had given me the measurements for the piece of wood for the kickplate under the vanity, and I gave the measurements to a family friend that is a woodworker. When his carpenter went to install the kickplate, it was about 1" too short. I was there when my friend measured and cut the wood, so I know it was the correct length. However, when I told Mr. Bauer that his carpenter must have measured wrong, he very rudely said "He never measures wrong". Its not the fact that the measurement was wrong, it was the arrogance of his response to me. His carpenter came and "made it work", and it looks just fine.
I was outdoors when Mr. Bauer was finished and on the way back inside he told me that the bill was on the counter, I told him ok, I will send it to him like I did last time. Very rudely, with my neighbors outside, he said that I "knew he was coming today" and he wanted a check today. I wrote him a check and he left. After he left I went into the bathroom to see his final work and could not believe what I saw! He was to install the toilet paper holder (for an extra charge) and had attempted to do so but had made a rather large hole in the drywall, so he moved it further front and papered over the hole in the wall with a patch of wallpaper without repairing it! There was a major indentation in the wallpaper where the hole was that could have easily been poked through, it was very, very noticeable. I called him back and he took the entire length of wallpaper down, and came back the next day to spackle and put up another strip of wallpaper. It looks just fine now but my thoughts are did he either think I wouldn't notice, which is totally impossible, wouldn't say anything, or am I just a dumb woman? The only thing he said about the situation was "Sorry about that".

"The member is incorrect with some of her statements. 1st, my carpenter worked on the cabinet throughout the day. I am confident that he gave her the correct measurement. When I had him come back to finish it, he told me the correct measurement in her driveway before entering the house. He remembered it from almost 2 weeks earlier. Did she check the measurement when she picked up the new board from her "cabinetry friend" ? She did not, and she also did not have the paper with the measurement on it that my carpenter gave her. My carpenter did "make it work" because he is very good. I din't charge her anything extra for the extra work my carpenter had to do to "make it work". 2nd, My estimate states terms of "Due on completion", which mean that full payment is due when I am finished and the customer is satisfied. After the first day of the job, she could not pay me. I took 1 1/2 weeks to get the first check, so I was not going to let that happen to me again a second time. She did not have the money the second time, either. She had to post date a check and I had to wait until the weekend to deposit it. I did not require a deposit since she supplied most of the materials. In that situation, I expect to be paid when finished, as any contractor would. 3rd, when I installed her toilet paper holder, it destroyed the wall. I tried to do a minor fix. I thought that it looked acceptable when I left, and it probably would have dried-in fine, but she pushed on it before it had a chance to dry. I do offer a full 1 year warranty on my workmanship. She called me about 15 minutes after I left, and immediately returned to fix it. It looked perfect when I left, but still had to wait until the weekend to deposit her check, because she wouldn't get paid until Friday. Good luck with your next contractor, the member."

The last project Mr Bauer tackled for me was the interior of an apartment in a Victorian building I bought in 2003. He patched the cracks, painted the apartment, and volunteered to return to touch-up the paint after the new carpet was laid. His prompt attention to detail allowed me to find a new tenant quickly.

When he came for the estimate he was exactly one time. Once we hired him, he came promptly every day, was easy to work with, and left the area very clean. The room looked great when he was done. The walls were repaired and you would never know how bad the walls looked. He also hung the lincrusta perfectly. I am still trying to find the seams and I cant! Great job for somebody that is very picky.

He painted the interior of our home and showed up every day at 7:30 am as promised. He worked a full day and was very neat and tidy. He was totally accommodating to my schedule. He was very easy to work with.
